Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of 3D-AIR media in enhancing students' geography learning outcomes at SMA Negeri 8 Banjarmasin. This type of research uses an experimental design with a nonequivalent pretest-posttest control group design. The sample for this study consisted of students in class X.5 (experimental) and X.6 (control) in the 2024/2025 academic year. The experimental class received treatment with 3D-AIR media, while the control class did not use any learning media. The material taught in this study was the lithosphere. The data collection technique used a multiple-choice test. The data were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney test, which showed that the Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) of 0.861 > 0.05 indicates that there is no increase in geography learning outcomes through 3D-AIR media in class X students at SMA Negeri 8 Banjarmasin. This is due to various learning component factors, including 3D-AIR media and supporting facilities used during classroom learning. 3D-AIR media still has shortcomings, namely that it is only compatible with Android-based devices. However, some students use iOS and HarmonyOS-based devices, which can hinder their access to lithosphere materials during learning. Furthermore, Wi-Fi network support in the school environment remains suboptimal, limiting the use of 3D-AIR media in learning. Therefore, research findings on supporting facilities for the application of 3D-AIR media in lithosphere learning are the main focus, to optimize student activities and the quality of geography learning in the technology era.

Abstract

Beras Keramat, a local rice variety with high cultural and spiritual value, faces an imminent threat of extinction due to declining cultivation and shifting agricultural priorities. This study aims to revitalize the preservation of Beras Keramat and enhance community food security through a participatory approach. Conducted over a two-month period in Paramasan Bawah Village, this research utilizes the Action Research model, consisting of a cyclical process of Planning, Acting, Observing, and Reflecting. Data was collected through in-depth interviews and field observations involving 9 key informants. The intervention involved a collective planting strategy in which each household was mandated to cultivate at least one gantang of seeds, accompanied by documentation of traditional rituals and monitoring of youth engagement. The findings indicate that the structured action cycle successfully achieved its key outcome indicators, notably increasing cultural awareness and securing a stable seed stock of Beras Keramat within the community. The integration of ritual documentation with practical cultivation served as an effective bridge for intergenerational knowledge transfer. This study develops the concept of “Communal Heritage-Based Food Security,” suggesting that the survival of endangered local cultivars relies on the synergy between cultural mandates and community participation. While limited to a specific local context, this research implies that community-led action is a resilient model for indigenous crop conservation.

Abstract

This study analyzes the role of a critical pedagogical approach in Social Studies education in strengthening students’ ecological awareness. The research employs a qualitative approach using a literature review method. Data were drawn from 27 selected scholarly publications sourced from Scopus-indexed journals and nationally accredited journals. These publications were analyzed through a conceptual literature review and qualitative content analysis to identify key themes related to critical pedagogy, Social Studies education, and ecological awareness. The findings indicate that critical pedagogy enables the meaningful integration of environmental issues into Social Studies learning by fostering contextual, dialogical, and reflective learning processes. Through the problematization of socio-ecological realities, students are encouraged to develop an understanding of the interrelationships between human activities, development policies, and their environmental impacts. This approach not only enhances cognitive understanding but also cultivates students’ critical awareness, environmental concern, and ecological responsibility. The study concludes that Social Studies learning grounded in critical pedagogy can function as a vehicle for social transformation by promoting ecological awareness. It further emphasizes the importance of shifting the Social Studies learning paradigm from memorization-oriented instruction toward meaningful, critical learning oriented to environmental sustainability.

Abstract

This community service program aimed to improve the capacity of high school geography teachers in Banjarmasin to develop digital-based learning media using Google Sites. The program responded to the limited use of digital tools in geography education, particularly in integrating spatial data, interactive maps, and local content. With the growing need for innovative, contextual, and accessible learning, the program involved stages of preparation, training, simulation, and mentoring. Google Sites emerged as a free, easy-to-use alternative solution. Google Sites offers the advantage of being an easily accessible, flexible, and free platform, making it an ideal choice for geography learning in the context of high school teaching in Banjarmasin City. A total of 30 geography teachers participated. The results showed improved teacher skills in designing integrated instructional websites. This highlights the importance of continuous training and technical support to enhance digital competencies among educators. This program is expected to serve as a model for enhancing the pedagogical competence of high school geography teachers in addressing the challenges of 21st-century learning. In addition, the results of this activity have implications for improving the quality of high school geography learning in Banjaramsin City, particularly through the integration of technology during learning activities.

Abstract

Every day waste production is increasing along with the increase in the number of products and people's consumption patterns. What must be done to overcome the increase in waste volume is to reduce the volume of waste from the source through waste management from the community itself. The problem in community participation regarding waste management using the 3R method in Mampari Village, Balangan Regency is what form of community participation in waste management and the level of participation in community waste management. Research on waste reduction using the 3R method in Mampari Village aims to: (1) describe the forms of community participation in Mampari Village. (2) describe the level of participation of the Mampari Village community, data collection includes interviews, observation and documentation, while data analysis uses quantitative descriptive techniques. Based on the research results, one form of community participation in efforts to reduce waste using the 3R method is by providing contributions in the form of energy, goods and money as well as community service and participating in waste management. Apart from that, they also hold community meetings once a month, which are attended by several residents. The level of community participation that occurs in Mampari Village according to the category is low, the only community members who participate are village mobilizers consisting of 10-15 people so that the implementation of waste management is very lacking and still not optimal
