Abstract

Lorong Ujung Tanjung Dua, Lingk 15, Bagan Deli Village, Belawan, North Sumatra became the location of this community research and service with Mr. Deddy Suryono as the owner of the business as the partner. His business activity is processing seafood shell waste into animal feed products. This business partner had problems whereas manual drying prolong the time due to the natural causes. Furthermore, the market of the product was in lower level due to the absence of explanation of the content of the product and also the brand name. One of the solution to propose is a high quality functional drying oven with eligible size and fixed temperature. Secondly, to increase the marketing of the product it need to be standardize by laboratory and make the brand name. The results, Rotary Dryer Modification Technology was used as the dryer which increased the product 4 times in quantity. The product was analysed in laboratory with three type of products whereas Shrimp Skin, Crab Skin and Fish Skin. The lab result showed that fish skin has the highest protein more than 50%. The brand name then named as EBYPRO.

Abstract

The development of teaching materials must pay attention to the prerequisites of the National Education Standards Agency (BSNP) and under the curriculum in universities to achieve subject learning. Educators make innovations to create interesting sources of teaching materials. This research aims to produce an innovative e-module for non-metallic oxygen and sulfur. This study uses the ADDIE model where only three stages are used, namely Analysis, Design, and Development. The data collection instrument used a validation questionnaire per the BSNP given to material and media expert validators. The results showed that the electronic feasibility test of the KKNI-based modules (Indonesian National Qualifications Framework) that had been developed obtained average content feasibility of 3.49 (valid), language eligibility of 3.67 (valid), presentation eligibility of 3.62 (valid), and eligibility Graphics is 3.66 (valid) with an overall average of 3.56 which is included in the valid category which can be used as non-metallic oxygen and sulfur teaching materials based on KKNI. Keywords: e-Modules, Innovative Chemistry, Teaching Materials.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the needs of learning media in schools, the feasibility of the media created following the National Education Standards Agency (BSNP) criteria, and the effectiveness of the learning media on student learning outcomes. This research employed the ADDIE method (Analysis, Development, Design, Implementation, and Evaluation) involving 30 class X (tenth-grade) students. According to the analysis results of the Lectora Inspire media, the mean score of the content feasibility aspects was 3.88 (highly feasible), and the mean score of the presentation feasibility aspects was 3.89 (highly feasible). Furthermore, the developed media was implemented in the teaching and learning process to determine its effect on student learning outcomes. The test incorporated multiple-choice questions. In the implementation phase, the mean score of the pretest was 46.83, while the mean score of the posttest was 81.66. Afterward, the evaluation stage compared the posttest results and the school's passing grade (81.66 70), revealing that the developed learning media significantly affected student learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Process Oriented Guided  Inquiry Learning (POGIL) model on Science Process Skills (SPS), cognitive abilities and the correlation between SPS and students' cognitive abilities on the reaction rate concept. The sample in this study were 35 students of class XI SMA Negeri Seribu Bukit 2016-2017 academic year. The data was collected through observation and test. 20 multiple choice questions (alpha:0.81) were used to collect data of student’s SPS. While students' cognitive abilities were obtained by pre-test and post-test using 20 multiple choice questions (alpha:0.84). The distributed normally and homogeneously. The hypothesis was tested by using Paired Sample t-Test at a significance level of 0.05. Based on the data analysis and hypothesis testing carried out, there was a significant difference in the effect of the POGIL model on Science Process Skills (SPS), cognitive abilities and significant interactions between SPS and students' cognitive abilities on the material reaction rate, indicated by the value of each probability or sig. 0,000, so it can be concluded that the results of testing the hypothesis reject Ho or accept Ha at the 5 percent alpha level.

Abstract

This community service activity focuses on dealing with partner problems, namely junior high school teachers at YP Nurul Fadhilah. The problems faced are the lack of application of material-based practicum around and teachers’ lack of knowledge and skills regarding making practicum innovations a source of online learning. A teacher is required to be able to adapt to the development of science and technology during the industrial revolution 4.0, therefore additional activities are needed to make this happen. This activity aims to increase teacher knowledge and skills in applying material-based practicum around to become an online learning resource. The method used consists of 4 stages, namely: Socialization of the introduction of practicum from nearby materials, training on making practicum into an online learning resource and assistance in the implementation of making online learning resources and evaluating results. Executors provide tools and materials, while partners prepare laptops for application training. The results obtained from this activity were that the teachers experienced improvements both in terms of knowledge and skills. Quantitatively, the teacher's ability regarding practical knowledge from surrounding materials to online learning materials increased for science teachers with an average score of 83.3 and non-science teachers with an average score of 66.43. In addition to increasing knowledge and skills, partners also produce products, namely online learning resources in the form of videos. In general, partners have produced products in good condition. Conclusion: This PKM activity increases partners' knowledge of using local materials. This activity also adds to teachers' skills in creating online learning resources.

Abstract

This study aims to develop an initial ability test instrument based on science generic skills in the form of a scholastic test and develop a final chemistry evaluation test instrument in the topic of thermochemistry as well as find out the validity of the content and construction validity of the instrument. Research and development research, with a 4D development model consisting of 4 main stages, namely: Define, Design, Develop and Disseminate, due to time constraints this research was only up to develop. The results of the content validity test by experts obtained an average percentage of material aspects, namely 87.08%, construction aspects, namely 90.41%, language aspects, 92.5% and additional rules, 96.67%, so the question instrument is suitable for use. Based on the construction validation test data, it was found that of the 20 questions on the scholastic potential test tested, there were 19 questions that were valid and considered appropriate, while 1 other item was invalid, while of the 20 questions on the chemistry test tested, there were 17 questions that were valid and considered feasible, leaving 3 questions other invalid. For further research, it is hoped that this instrument can be implemented.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the effect of the application of project-based learning models on e-learning chemical equilibrium material on learning outcomes, student activities and student responses. This type of research is a quasi-experimental with a pretest-posttest control group design. This research was conducted in January 2022. Data collection techniques were obtained by means of tests, observation sheets, questionnaires, and documentation. The population of this research is the students of class XI IPA SMA Negeri 9 Medan. The research sample consisted of 2 classes with a total of 65 students with a random sampling technique. The experimental class was given learning using a project-based learning model in e-learning, the control class was given learning using a direct learning model. This study shows the following results: (1) there is a positive effect of implementing project-based learning models on e-learning chemical equilibrium material on improving student learning outcomes, obtained tcount = 9.91 > ttable = 1.669 and class N-gain value the experimental class is 0.77 with the high category, while the N-gain for the control class is 0.56 in the medium category. (2) student learning activities in the experimental class are very positive or very good towards, the average percentage is 81.83% with the qualification "very good". (3) students in the experimental class showed a positive or good response in the learning process that took place in the classroom, the average percentage of responses was 76.55% with "good" qualifications. This shows that the project-based learning model in e-learning is good for use in the teaching and learning process.
