Abstract

Anemia is a condition characterized by a decrease in hemoglobin levels. One common complication during the postpartum periode is postpartum hemorrhage, which can be caused by anemia of mothers, as it can slow down wound healing, increase the risk of infection, recude brrast milk production, and cause extreme fatigue that interferes with mothers’ ability to care for newborns. Young coconut water consumption on increasing hemoglobin levels in postpartum mothers. The design used was a quasi-experiment with a pre-post test and a control group design involving a sample 0f 32 postpartum mothers divided into 16 intervention and 16 control groups. The result indicated that 10 mothers experienced an increase in hemoglobin levels after being given youngcoconut water, while six mothers experienced a decrease in hemoglobin levels. The p-value obtained was 0.045 < 0.05. Conclusion: young coconut water consumption increased hemoglobin levels in postpartum mothers at Limboto Health Center.

Abstract

Kalurahan Jepitu adalah bagian dari Karst Gunung Sewu yang berisiko amblesan sinkhole; yang dapat mengancam keselamatan sumber air bersih di Goa Pulejajar. Tujuan pengabdian kepada masyarakat adalah untuk mengimplementasikan teknologi tepat guna sistem peringatan dini amblesan terhadap sumber air bersih Goa Pulejajar. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan partisipatif, mencakup sosialisasi, pelatihan, dan pendampingan intensif kepada Mitra Pokdarwis Idaman. Sistem ini mengintegrasikan sensor tekanan dan kelembaban batuan, unit mikrokontroler berbasis Internet of Things (IoT), dan pelat pengaman modular sebagai proteksi fisik. Kegiatan ini berhasil menginstalasi dan mengoperasionalisasi sistem peringatan dini, ditandai dengan peningkatan kapasitas Pokdarwis dalam melakukan pengawasan, pembacaan data, dan pemeliharaan alat. Di dalamnya telah terbentuk protokol peringatan dini di tingkat lokal dengan memberdayakan masyarakat. Implementasi teknologi tepat guna yang partisipatif terbukti layak secara teknis, efektif dalam membangun kesiapsiagaan masyarakat dan meningkatkan keamanan sumber air bersih Goa Pulejajar. Keberhasilan ini menjadi model mitigasi potensial untuk direplikasi di kawasan karst lainnya.Sistem ini merupakan inovasi baru berbasis sensor tekanan dan kelembaban dengan panel surya yang menunjukkan peningkatan efektivitas respon alat hingga 87% dibandingkan uji awal, menjadi model mitigasi potensial untuk direplikasi di kawasan karst lainnya.

Abstract

Curcuma aeruginosa Roxb. is used empirically for various treatments, including maintaining healthy skin. However, adequate research is needed before use for medicinal purposes. This study was proposed to determine the chemical content and antibacterial properties of C. aeruginosa against acne-causing bacteria. Water-steam distillation was applied to distill the essential oil. Its organoleptic, yield, and refractive index were also determined. Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) was performed to identify the chemical compounds. The antibacterial property against acne-causing bacteria was investigated using the diffusion and microbroth dilution methods. The essential oil of C. aeruginosa had a bitter taste, an aromatic odor, and a brownish color with a yield of 0.66% and a refractive index of 1.4921. GC-MS analysis showed 1,8-cineole (30.72%) as the major compound. The inhibition zone diameter varied based on the test bacteria. The 10% essential oil was better at inhibiting Propionibacterium acnes than Staphylococcus aureus or Staphylococcus epidermidis. The MIC and MBC values of the essential oil against P. acnes were the same at 0.07%. The C. aeruginosa essential oil has the potential to be developed into anti-acne preparations.

Abstract

Latar Belakang: Masa balita khususnya dibawah dua tahun merupakan masa pertumbuhan dan perkembangan yang paling pesat dibandingkan dengan kelompok umur lainnya. Sifat perkembangan yang terbentuk ini dapat mempengaruhi pola makan anak, hal tersebut menyebabkan anak terkadang bersikap terlalu pemilih, misalnya cenderung menyukai makanan ringan sehingga menjadi kenyang dan menolak makan saat waktu jam makan. Tujuan: Penelitian ini untuk mengetahui Pengaruh Pemberian Buah Pepaya Terhadap Peningkatan Nafsu Makan pada Balita. Metode: Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan desain penelitian pre-eksperiment menggunakan rancangan one group pre-post test design. Teknk pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik total sampling dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 30 responden. Instrument yang digunakan berupa lembar observasi sedangkan untuk uji statistik menggunakan uji Wilcoxon signed rank test. Hasil: Penelitian didapatkan nilai p-value = 0,000 (<0,05) dimana 0,000 lebih kecil dari 0,05. Kesimpulan: Ada pengaruh pemberian buah pepaya terhadap peningkatan nafsu makan balita maka H0 ditolak.

Abstract

Rendahnya kemampuan siswa dalam memahami dan menerapkan informasi terkait kesehatan reproduksi menjadi perhatian dalam pendidikan biologi. Literasi kesehatan reproduksi penting dimiliki remaja untuk membantu mereka mengambil keputusan yang tepat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara penerapan pendekatan Socio-Scientific Issues (SSI) dengan kemampuan literasi kesehatan reproduksi siswa kelas XI di SMA. Metode yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif dengan pendekatan korelasional. Subjek penelitian yaitu 33 siswa kelas XI MIPA 5 yang mendapatkan pembelajaran dengan penerapan pendekatan SSI pada materi sistem reproduksi manusia. Instrumen penelitian berupa tes pilihan ganda (25 soal) dan angket literasi kesehatan reproduksi (20 pernyataan). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai rata-rata hasil belajar siswa 77,91 dan skor literasi kesehatan reproduksi 82,18. Analisis korelasi Product Moment menghasilkan koefisien korelasi 0,991 (p = 0,000) yang menunjukkan adanya hubungan yang sangat kuat dan signifikan antara penerapan SSI dengan kemampuan literasi kesehatan reproduksi siswa. Secara praktis, hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penerapan pendekatan SSI dapat dijadikan strategi pembelajaran Biologi yang efektif untuk meningkatkan literasi kesehatan reproduksi. Guru dapat memanfaatkannya untuk melatih keterampilan berpikir kritis dan pengambilan keputusan, sementara sekolah dapat mengintegrasikannya ke dalam kurikulum literasi kesehatan..

Abstract

Sacha inchi (Plukenetia volubilis) is an ancestral plant native to the Amazon rainforest that has been adopted as a food source due to its high nutritional value, which has gradually been recognized for its potential health benefits for humans. One of its benefits is as a natural agent for lowering uric acid levels, due to its antioxidant content and active compounds such as flavonoids, which function as anti-inflammatory and cell protective agents. Although P. volubilis seeds have been extensively studied, the potential of its leaves as an alternative treatment for hyperuricemia remains largely unexplored. This study aims to determine the effect of sacha inchi (P. volubilis) leaf extract at different doses 0.35 mL/mouse, 0.40 mL/mouse, and 0.45 mL/mouse on reducing uric acid levels in mice (Mus musculus) and to identify the most effective dose for reducing uric acid levels in mice. This study used 24 male mice aged 3–4 months with a body weight not exceeding 25 g. The study design used a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with four treatments and six replicates. The treatments consisted of control (without extract), doses of 0.35 mL, 0.40 mL, and 0.45 mL of P. volubilis leaf extract. The P. volubilis leaf extract was administered orally via a mouth tube. The extract was obtained from the leaves of the P. volubilis using the maceration method. The mice were first induced with hyperuricemia using 1 mL of chicken liver juice per mouse. Uric acid levels were measured before and after treatment using a GCU test strip. Data were analyzed using a one way ANOVA test followed by a Duncan test at a significance level of 5%. The results showed significant differences between treatments (p = 0.001 < 0.05). The 0.45 mL dose was the most effective in lowering uric acid levels, from an average of 4.7 mg/dL to 3.4 mg/dL, and was significantly different from other doses based on Duncan's test. This study concluded that sacha inchi leaf extract has the potential to be used as a natural alternative for lowering blood uric acid levels.

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to examine how Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) governance design shapes the socio-demographic inclusion of small organic farmers. While CSA has gained attention as an alternative agri-food system, existing research remains predominantly consumer-oriented and provides limited explanation of how different categories of farmers are included or excluded. This study addresses this gap by reframing farmer participation as an institutional outcome rather than an individual choice. Method: The study adopts a qualitative comparative case study approach, focusing on two contrasting CSA models in Mojokerto, Indonesia. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with 38 farmers, CSA managers, and coordinators, complemented by document analysis and field observations. Guided by Transaction Cost Economics (TCE), qualitative data were analyzed using Atlas.ti through a deductive–inductive thematic analysis followed by cross-case comparison. Results: The findings show that CSA governance design plays a decisive role in shaping farmer inclusion. Decentralized, community-based governance relies on peer coordination and informal monitoring, effectively favoring experienced, land-owning farmers with strong social embeddedness. In contrast, centralized, organization-led governance internalizes coordination, monitoring, and certification costs, lowering entry barriers for younger, landless, or less experienced farmers, albeit with reduced autonomy. Socio-demographic characteristics thus emerge as reflections of governance compatibility rather than direct determinants of participation.  Novelty: This study contributes to CSA scholarship by conceptualizing farmer inclusion as an institutional outcome shaped by transaction cost allocation. By extending Transaction Cost Economics to alternative agri-food networks, it provides a governance-based explanation of inclusion and exclusion dynamics in CSA, particularly in developing-country contexts.

Abstract

Eco-enzyme is a complex liquid produced through the fermentation of organic waste such as fruit and vegetable peels, commonly prepared using a 1:3:10 ratio of sugar, organic waste, and water. Due to its various practical benefits in daily life, public awareness and understanding of eco-enzyme production need to be improved through community service activities. This community engagement program aimed to enhance community knowledge and skills in converting organic household waste into eco-enzyme. The program involved preparation, educational sessions, concept introduction, workshops, and hands-on practice, supported by PowerPoint presentations and videos. Participants consisted of 30 residents of Parakan Village, Samarang District, Garut Regency, including household heads, housewives, and village youth. Participant responses were collected through questionnaires and analyzed descriptively. The activity was successfully implemented, as reflected by participants’ enthusiasm and overwhelmingly positive feedback regarding its usefulness and applicability at home. Ekoenzim merupakan larutan kompleks yang dihasilkan dari fermentasi limbah organik, seperti kulit buah dan sayur. Larutan ini dibuat dari campuran gula, kulit buah/sayur, dan air dengan perbandingan umum 1:3:10. Ekoenzim memiliki berbagai manfaat dalam kehidupan sehari-hari sehingga perlu disosialisasikan kepada masyarakat. Salah satu upaya yang dapat dilakukan adalah melalui kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PKM). Kegiatan ini bertujuan meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan masyarakat dalam mengolah sampah organik menjadi ekoenzim. Metode yang digunakan meliputi tahap persiapan, edukasi dan pengenalan konsep, workshop, serta praktik langsung pembuatan ekoenzim. Penyampaian materi dilakukan menggunakan media PowerPoint dan video. Peserta kegiatan berjumlah 30 orang yang terdiri atas kepala keluarga, ibu rumah tangga, dan pemuda Desa Parakan, Kecamatan Samarang, Kabupaten Garut. Respon peserta diperoleh melalui kuesioner dan dianalisis secara deskriptif kualitatif. Kegiatan PKM berjalan dengan baik dan lancar, ditunjukkan oleh antusiasme peserta serta hasil kuesioner yang menunjukkan respon positif sebesar 100%.
