Abstract

This study focuses on the language characteristics of multilingual female teenagers in Bandung, a city with a diverse ethnic population. The research is based on a small sample of 16-18 year old students from a private high school and uses a descriptive-analytic method to analyze recorded conversations as primary data and interviews as secondary data. The study categorizes and analyzes the language variations and characteristics of the teens' speech, using theories from Lakoff (2017) and Holmes (2022). The results suggest that some, but not all, of the language features proposed by Lakoff are present in the teens' speech. Additionally, the study identifies six language functions used, including lexical hedges, tagging questions, empty adjectives, reinforcers, emphasis stress, and rising intonation. Due to the participants' multilingualism, the conversations often involve a mix of Indonesian, local (Sundanese), and English codes.

Abstract

This study reveals the story of Dajjal who experienced a shift in interpretation. This is due to the response of each reader with a different background. To disclose it, this research uses the reception theory proposed by Hans Robert Jauss. This research is the result of philology research from Saifu ad-Dharib (SaD) script. This manuscript was written by KH. Tubagus Ahmad Bakri, Purwakarta, West Java, with a thickness of 32 pages. Meanwhile, the section of the manuscript taken only the story of Dajjal contained in Chapter 4 and part of Chapter 5. From the results of the manuscript SaD taken only transliteration and translation. From the results of the study, it was found that the author of SaD responded that Dajjal in question is Ibn Sayyad. It is realized by the author that there are two opinions concerning the birth or previous Dajjal, but the author responds and interprets that Dajjal has been born ie that existed in the time of the Prophet Muhammad. In addition, Dajjal will come out with 70,000 followers who are mostly artists. The great Dajjal before the exit will be preceded by the existence of the small Dajjal-Dajjal which is now emerging, ie Persatuan Islam, Muhammadiyah, Wahabi, and Shi'a. This manuscript was born at the time of the condition of Muslims who are still in conflict, so the reception of Dajjal refers to the organization of the period above. The manuscripts of his day can be used as propaganda material. Keywords: Dajjal, reception theory, saifu ad-dharib RESEPSI CERITA DAJJAL DALAM NASKAH SAIFU AD-DHARIBAbstrakPenelitian ini  mengungkap cerita Dajjal yang mengalami pergeseran tafsir.

Abstract

This research is motivated by themetaphorical language that often appears in literary works because literary works contain many connotative meanings, so they use majas. One of the literary works is folklore. In this study, researchers were interested in analyzing conceptual metaphors found in several folklore. The source of the research used is based on a collection of folklore entitled "Folklore from Cirebon" by Made Casta and Masduki Sarpin published in 1998. That way, the purpose of this study is to describe the types of metaphors, conceptual meanings, and image schemes in the cirebon folklore collection. This research uses descriptive qualitative methods. The data collection technique in this study is a reading and note-taking technique, namely by reading the book of the collection of folklore, then recorded and classified the type of metaphor obtained. The data analysis techniques used are analysis techniques according to Miles and Huberman (1992), namely: (1) data reduction (data reduction), (2) data presentation (data display), and (3) conclusion drawing. From the research, the results were obtained, namely from the 6 folklore analyzed, there were 14 data that contained metaphorical meanings. The metaphor is based on three types of metaphors, namely structural, orientational, and ontological. The results stated that this collection of folklore from Cirebon uses the most orientational metaphors with the image scheme that appears the most is the spatial image scheme. Both metaphors and image schemes are found in many folklore entitled The Origin of the Name Cirebon. This research is expected to be useful for literature learning in high school and for the advancement of conceptual metaphorical research.

Abstract

Abstract Ometv is a platform for communication between Middle Eastern people and foreigners through video without language and geography barriers. This platform is used by YouTube creators to create content, giving birth to many creators who are bilingual or more. The process of communicating on content occurs resulting in code mixing and code switching. This research method uses a sociolinguistic approach based on Pieter Musyken's theory as well as Suwito's theory and the analysis process is carried out using a qualitative descriptive method through direct element division (BUL). This study uses 46 data contained in the Saudi Arabian version of Ometv. The data were classified into 3 categories: insert code mixing (30 data), alternation code mixing (11 data), and congruent lexicalization code mixing (5 data). As for the external code switching process, there are 46 of these data and 1 internal code switching data. The causes and functions of code mixing and code switching based on the analysis are (1) Speaker background, (2) Vocabulary Requirements, and (3) Demonstrating expression through utterances. Keywords: Ometv, mixing code, switching code, Muysken, Suwito
