Abstract

Du'a Poetry is one of the Poems written by Diaspora poets. One work that was born of four modern-century poets, Gibran Khalil Gibran, Mikhail Naimah, Fate of Aridhah and Abdul Masih Hadad. Du'a's poetry is the material object in this paper. Characteristics of Du'a Poetry which is a modern poetry of Mahjar (migrant) not only presents the beauty of its poetic structure and language, it also represents other characters of Mahjar's poetry such as the selection of romantic diction and the acculturation of two Eastern and Western cultures. Mahjar's poetry is also known for its uniqueness in loading philosophical and spiritualist thoughts. Its formal object is Riffaterre's Semiotics. This poem will be analyzed through reading heuristics or mimesis based on the meaning of the dictionary and hermeneutical or retroactive reading. Riffaterre's semiotics believes that in the form of textual poetry, there is a non-textual empty space which is the core of the poem called the hypogram. In the hypogram will be found the central meaning of poetry or matrix. The matrix of this poem is the nature of man in a philosophical perspective. Hypogramatically, this poem is based on the philosophical thought texts of spiritualism about humans. This is seen in the model of poetry, the first actualization of the matrix, in the form of one sentence أنا ما لي وللورى فارفعيني (What am I to myself and others, then lift me). In the end, Ana in poetry Dua transitioned to find a destination where she lived, then anchored on the throne of heaven, the throne of God.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the thought of an orientalist–‘Abdallah ‘Abd al-Fadi–which states that the Qur’an has no perfection. He poured his thoughts into a book Is The Qur’an Infallible? In his book, he states that the Qur’an contains 22 Arabic syntax errors. His thoughts effected in many Muslims doubtful towards the authenticity of the Qur’an. In addition, non-Muslims also increasingly undermine the authenticity of it. Considering that this issue is a matter that must be addressed, the researcher will research further in this case. The purpose of this study is to refute the thoughts of ‘Abdallah ‘Abd al-Fadi and to maintain the purity, image, and authenticity of the Qur’an. The research method used in this research is descriptive analysis with the qualitative approach. The finding of this research indicates that ‘Abdallah ‘Abd al-Fadi’s thoughts on Qur’anic verses are wrong and this is due to his lack of understanding of Arabic theories especially the theories of Arabic syntax.

Abstract

Gender equality issues never stop being discussed and always attract attention. This is driven by the many inequalities experienced by women from ancient times until now. Even though gender equality is increasingly being echoed, the position of women is always affected and biased by patriarchal culture. Often women are made second. Islam itself provides space for gender equality. This study aims to discuss Riffat Hassan's thoughts on realizing gender equality in the Islamic view. This study also uses a qualitative descriptive method with a narrative analysis approach. The data was collected by documenting various sources related to Hassan and her thoughts and was analyzed using interactive qualitative analysis. The results show that there are two approaches used by Riffat Hassan in interpreting the verses of the Koran: the ideal-normative and socio-historical approaches. In her view, the basis of a contested patriarchal culture is related to 1) God first created men, not women; women are believed to have been created from the ribs of men. Therefore, women are derivative and ontologically secondary; 2) women, not men, are the primary agents for human fall from heaven; and 3) women are not only created by men but also for men, so the existence of women is only a tool and has no fundamental meaning.

Abstract

Fathers play a crucial role in the education and development of their children. In the Qur'an, the figure of a father is often mentioned, indicating the urgency of a father's role and function in a child's life. The term for father in the Qur'an is mentioned as "abun" and "walidun". This research uses a literature study method by referring to Abdul Chaer's semantic theory. The results show that based on semantic analysis, the term "abun" is more general than "walidun". The term "walidun" only refers to a biological father, while "abun" can refer to a biological father, grandfather, and ancestors.

Abstract

Reading ability is a person's ability to understand written content and then manifest it by reciting it orally. The ability to read is the basis for developing one's language skills because Arabic is always related to Arabic texts. The problem found by researchers at Madrasah Diniyah Almunawarotul Banat is the need for students' ability to read and understand the contents of Arabic texts. This study aims to improve the reading skill (maharah qiraah) of fifth-grade students at Madrasah Diniyah Almunawarotul Banat in learning Arabic using the Strip Story method. This research is a classroom action research (CAR) that focuses on action research, which consists of two cycles, with the subject being fifth-grade students at Madrasah Diniyah Almunawarotul Banat, a total of 20 people. The results of this study indicate that the method of story strips can improve students' ability to read Arabic texts. In the first cycle, only a small number of students could read Arabic sentences, with an average of 66.5%. In the second cycle, almost 80% of students could read Arabic texts; judging from the average obtained, it was 75.45%.

Abstract

Arabic, which is closely known as part of Islam because it was chosen directly by God as the language of the Qur'an and Hadith, now seems to be an exclusive language to learn. Since long ago, the views of the Indonesian people, especially non-Muslims, towards Arabic were only limited to religious languages without seeing the urgency of the Arabic language itself. Therefore, this study wants to reveal the positive views of non-Muslims towards Arabic because researchers believe that not all non-Muslim Indonesians think that way. This is done to open the views of the sacredness of the Indonesian people towards Arabic. This study uses a mixed methods approach between qualitative and quantitative. The instrument used was the Forum Group Discussion (FGD) with each representative from a non-Islamic religion in Indonesia and as supporting data, the researcher conducted reference searches in journal articles and the like. As an introduction, the researcher reveals that there is an alignment or de-sacralization of Arabic objects. Then the researcher found the influence of Arabic on non-Muslim objects of worship and its influence on the international scene. In addition, the practical and pragmatic orientation of non-Muslims towards learning Arabic and the opportunity to make it part of the National curriculum can also have an impact on the process of open-mindedness in society, which until now still consecrates the Arabic language with parallelism or de-sacralization of Arabic objects.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to use Michael Riffaterre's semiotic theory to analyse the meaning of the lyrics of the Rahmatun Lil'Alameen song. This is a descriptive-qualitative study. The researchers used techniques such as observing and taking notes. The lyrics to the Rahamatun Lil'Alameen song were obtained from Maher Zain's YouTube channel. The researchers also distributed a Likert scale questionnaire to 30 respondents to determine how well people understood the meaning and impression of Rahmatun Lil'Alameen's song lyrics. The findings of this study are as follows: 1) indirectness of expression includes (a) meaning substitution dominated by metaphorical figurative language, (b) meaning distortion in the form of ambiguity, and (c) the creation of meaning through rhymes, enjambments, and typography that enhance the visual presentation of the verses, 2) Heuristic reading was followed by hermeneutic reading, which described the prophet Muhammad Saw.'s presence as a role model and mercy to all nature, which is imprinted through his compassion and praiseworthy morals. 3) Prophet Muhammad Saw., model: mercy to all creation and blessings on the prophet, as well as variants that run throughout the verses 4) Potential and actual hypograms found in the Qur'an and Hadith that are intertextual.

Abstract

This study aimed at investigating the problems of Arabic teachers’ professional competence in improving the quality of the graduates at MA Al-Musdariyah 2 Cimahi. Phenomenology, scientific approach, and a formal juridical approach were used as the method in this study. This study belonged to a case study. The result of this study showed that the main problems related to the teacher’s professional competence in teaching and learning Arabic were an unsuitable academic qualification, the lack of teachers’ welfare, teachers’ discipline and awareness, tutoring, and training. The implication of this study indicated that teachers’ professional competence to improve the quality of the graduates had been implemented. However, the implementation of teachers’ professional competence was considered less than optimal. It influenced the quality of the graduates. In other words, the objectives of teaching and learning activities were not achieved. Therefore, in this case, teachers as the most important factor in teaching and learning processes should improve their competences as a manifestation to improve the quality of the graduates.

Abstract

One of the factors that support and influence students' fluency in Arabic communication is the presence of a language-learning environment (bi'ah lughawiyah). This study aimed to describe how Pesantren Sabilillah implemented the policies in the Sabilillah Spectacular Stage program in improving Maharatul Kalam and how the program improved students’ speaking skills (maharah al-kalam). This study used a qualitative approach. The data were obtained from interviews, observations, and documentation. Participants included the boarding school caretakers, the Arabic language program coordinator, asatidz and ustadzat, and all students living in the boarding school dormitory. This study's results indicate that the Spectacular Stage policies include formulating objectives in the Sabilillah Spectacular Stage program and the timing of the program. Meanwhile, the implementation of this policy includes the policy of grouping students, the formation of the Katibah al-Mukhalifah group, Taqdim al-Mufradat, and Tadrib al-Barnamij.
