Abstract

This study aims to identify the level of critical thinking skills of high school students in Newton's Law material. To determine the level of learning independence of high school students. To determine the relationship between student learning independence and critical thinking skills of class XI high school students on Newton's Law material. The subjects of this study consisted of 20 high school students of class XI. The data collection research instruments used were critical thinking essay tests, independent learning questionnaires and interviews. The essay test is a question of describing critical thinking skills in Newton's law material. The essay test consists of 5 items given to the research subject. Then, interviews were conducted with 6 respondents who were randomly selected. Based on the results of research and data analysis, it shows that the students 'critical thinking skills are in the sufficient category with an average presentation of 59%, while the students' learning independence is in the good category. Then based on the results of the analysis of the two variables using the Spearman rank test using SPSS, it was found that the two variables did not have a significant relationship. This is indicated by the r count value of 0.256 then compared with the r table value of 0.450. The correlation value is in the weak category.

Abstract

Students' consistency can increase when they gain more experience in learning physics. Multi-representation is a representation of a concept that is done using many ways. Giving multi-representation tests to students can be used to determine the level of consistency of students to a concept in different contexts. This study was a qualitative descriptive study aimed to identifying the level of scientific consistency of students in solving collision problems using multirepresentation tests. The research subjects were students of SMA Negeri 3 Palu, garde 11th MIA 7 for the 2018/2019 academic year which consisted of 27 students who took part in the consistency test and 3 students were selected in the interview activities according to the respondent's category. The research instrument consisted of 21 multiple choice questions with different forms of representation which were divided into 4 themes. The results showed that the level of scientific consistency of students in solving collision problems was generally at level 3 or inconsistent which indicated that students' understanding of concepts in collision material was still low.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the dimensions of the cognitive process category (C4) about the Electrical material in students. This research is a descriptive-qualitative type of research. The research subjects amounted to 31 students who were then given a test in the form of an essay to determine the respondents as many as 6 people. The data was obtained from the cognitive process dimension test category (C4) about electrical material with thinking-aloud settings. From the results of the research conducted, the results show that the achievement of the cognitive process dimension analysis of students at the level (C4) can be classified as low category, namely 51.09%. Overall, the percentage of the results of the analysis of the dimensions of cognitive processes in the C4 category in class IX students, namely the combined descriptor obtained a value of 66.67%, the descriptor combined coherence of 55%, the descriptor made an outline of 55%, the descriptor chose 50.83%, and deconstructing descriptor is 79.16%.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the understanding of prospective physics teacher students in interpreting graphs on the concept of thermodynamics. Respondents in this study consisted of 18 students of third-semester physics teacher candidates, Physics Education Study Program, Department of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Tadulako University. The instrument used is an essay test that consists of 6 questions. The data obtained were analyzed through a descriptive-qualitative approach by referring to the results of the answers using the Thinking-aloud method and student interviews with questions in interpreting graphs on the concept of thermodynamics. The results showed that the understanding of prospective physics teacher students was still relatively low with an average percentage of 24.53%. Student understanding is measured by 3 descriptors, the ability to translate descriptors is in a low category, namely 42.36%, the ability to interpret descriptors is in the very low category of 27.77% while the predictor ability descriptors are also very low at 3.47%. In general, prospective physics teacher students are still lacking in understanding graphs on thermodynamic concepts.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan kemampuan berpikir kritis terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah fisika pada materi elastisitas dan hukum hooke. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kuantitatif. Sampel dalam peneltian ini adalah siswa kelas XI MIA 1 SMA Negeri 9 Palu yang dipilih berdasarkan pertimbangan tertentu yang sesuai dengan kebetuhan penelitian. Intrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu tes kemampuan berpikir kritis dan tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah. Hasil analisis hubungan kemampuan berpikir kritis terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah menunjukan bahwa nilai korelasi yang diperoleh sebesar r = 0,532 berada pada kategori sedang dengan kontribusi kemampuan berpikir kritis terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah sebesar 36,8%. Hubungan antara indikator kemampuan berpikir kritis terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah pada indikator ke-1 diperoleh korelasi sebesar 0,496 dengan koefisien determinasi sebesar 24,63%, indikator ke-2 diperoleh korelasi sebesar 0,622 dengan koefisien determinasi sebesar 38,66%, indikator ke-3 diperoleh korelasi sebesar 0,397 dengan koefisien determinasi sebesar 15,76% dan indikator ke-4 diperoleh korelasi sebesar 0,139 dengan koefisien determinasi sebesar 1,94%.Hasil penelitian menunjukan terdapat hubungan positif antara kemampun berpikir kritis terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (a) menghasilkan perangkat pembelajaran Dasar – dasar fisika Lanjut berbasis case method yang valid dan efektif digunakan guna meningkatkan kemampuan Higher Order Thingking Skills (HOTS) Mahasiswa; dan (b) untuk mengetahui seberapa besar peningkatan kemampuan HOTS mahasiswa melalui penggunaan perangkat pembelajaran dasar-dasar Fisika lanjut berbasis case method. Pengembangan dalam penelitian ini mengacu pada pengembangan model Addie. Untuk mengetahui kelayakan Perangkat yang dikembangkan maka dilakukan uji kelayakan materi, uji kelayakan media, dan uji coba terbatas pada subjek penelitian untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan HOTS mahasiswa dari penggunaan perangkat pembelajaran yang telah dikembangkan. Uji coba terbatas tersebut dilakukan dengan menggunakan desain penelitian yaitu kelompok tunggal one group pretest-posttest design. Berdasarkan hasil validasi aspek media menunjukkan bahwa nilai rerata aspek media dari modul yang dikembangkan adalah 3,67 pada kategori sangat valid, dengan koefisien reabilitas 100% atau 1,0. Sedangkan hasil validasi aspek materi menunjukkan bahwa nilai rerata aspek materi dari modul yang dikembangkan adalah 3,70 pada kategori sangat valid, dengan koefisien reabilitas 100% atau 1,0. Hasil uji coba terbatas pada subjek penelitian diperoleh data bahwa terdapat peningkatan kemampuan HOTS mahasiswa sebelum (pre-test) dan sesudah (posttest) penerapan perangkat pembelajaran Dasar – dasar Fisika Lanjut berbasis case method. Peningkatan tersebut sebesar 0,42 atau 60,2% berada pada kategori sedang. Serta persentase rerata respon mahasiswa terhadap penggunaan perangkat pembelajaran dasar - dasar Fisika Lanjut berbasis case method untuk meningkatkan kemampuan HOTS Mahasiswa adalah 84,76% dengan interpretasi sangat baik.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan miskonsepsi yang terjadi pada materi gelombang bunyi pada siswa di SMP Kelas VIII Kabupaten Tolitoli dengan menggunakan four-tier diagnostic test. Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 60 orang siswa dari kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Tolitoli, SMP Negeri 5 Tolitoli, dan SMP Negeri 8 Tolitoli. Penentuan responden menggunakan Teknik purposive sampling yaitu dengan mengambil responden yang mengalami miskonsepsi tertinggi sebanyak 10 orang siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa rata-rata persentase siswa paham konsep (SC) sebesar 29% yang termasuk dalam kriteria rendah, rata-rata persentase siswa yang kurang pengetahuan (LK) sebesar 33% yang termasuk dalam kriteria sedang, rata-rata persentase siswa yang mengalami miskonsepsi (MSC) sebesar 27% yang termasuk kriteria rendah, rata-rata persentase siswa yang mengalami false positive (FP) sebesar 6% yang termasuk kriteria rendah, rata-rata siswa yang mengalami false negative (FN) sebesar 3% yang termasuk dalam kategori rendah. Adapun hasil identifikasi menunjukan bahwa siswa SMP Negeri di Tolitoli telah memahami dengan baik konsep gelombang dan bunyi sehingga hasil yang dicapai yaitu pada kriteria miskonsepsi yaitu rendah.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan bahan ajar berbasis etnosains Kaili yang layak dan efektif pada materi getaran dan gelombang. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian dan pengembangan atau R&D (Research and Development), dengan desain penelitian menggunakan model ADDIE yang dibagi menjadi lima tahapan, yakni tahap analisis (Analysis), tahap perancangan (Design), tahap pengembangan (Development), tahap implementasi (Implementation), dan tahap evaluasi (Evaluation). Subjek penelitian ini adalah guru IPA dan peserta didik kelas VIII SMP Negeri 4 Palu. Penelitian ini menggunakan angket sebagai instrumen pengumpulan data. Kualitas atau kelayakan e-modul yang dikembangkan berdasarkan validasi ahli materi menunjukkan skor rata-rata 3,72 dengan kategori sangat baik, validasi ahli media menunjukkan skor rata-rata 3,48 dengan kategori sangat baik, hasil penilaian guru menunjukkan skor rata-rata 4,0 dengan kategori sangat setuju, dan hasil angket respon peserta didik menunjukkan skor rata-rata 3,35 dengan kategori sangat setuju. Produk yang dihasilkan berupa e-modul interaktif yang mengintegrasikan konsep getaran dan gelombang dengan alat musik tradisional Kaili yaitu Kakula dan Gimba. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa e-modul berbasis etnosains Kaili pada materi getaran dan gelombang yang telah dikembangkan layak untuk digunakan sebagai bahan ajar alternatif yang kontekstual dan bermakna dalam pembelajaran fisika.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to improve students' Mental Models and Mental Modelling Ability in the context of electrical circuits by using the House Installation Model as a laboratory learning instrument. The problem-solving-based laboratory learning model was applied in this research. The research method utilized a descriptive qualitative research design with a pretest-posttest design. The research results showed that 75% of students experienced Mental Models improvement in the context of electrical circuits, with 15% reaching level 2 and 60% reaching level 3. The improvement in Mental Modelling Ability was also significant, with 80% of students experiencing improvement, 21.7% reaching a moderate level, and 58.7% reaching a high level of Mental Modelling Ability. These results suggest that problem-solving-based practice learning models can effectively improve students'  Mental Models and Mental Modelling Ability in the context of electrical circuits.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to develop Discovery Learning-based Learner Worksheets (LKPD) using the ADDIE model with the objective of enhancing the science process skills and environmental literacy of secondary school students. This research employs a one-group pretest-posttest design within the context of a research and development (R&D) project conducted in class VII of SMP Negeri 2 Bungku, comprising 29 students, of whom 13 are male and 16 are female. The research instruments included validation sheets, Discovery Learning-based learner worksheets, observation sheets for science process skills, environmental literacy tests, and questionnaires for teachers and students regarding their responses to the product. The results demonstrated the validity of this development, with a score of 88%, a figure that was additionally supported by the teacher response score, which fell within the "very practical" category. The product of this development has a positive effect on students' science process skills, with an N-gain of 0.60 in the moderate category, indicating a significant improvement. The effect size of 0.47 in the moderate category indicates that this improvement is very significant. Furthermore, the development results had a significant impact on students' environmental literacy, with an N-gain of 0.35 in the medium category. The effect size of environmental literacy was 0.47 in the medium category.
