Abstract

Siam oranges (Citrus nobilis) are abundant commodities, with the fruit flesh being commonly utilized, while the peel is often discarded as waste. The peel contains flavonoids, limonin, hesperidin, and pectin, which function as antioxidants and natural gelling agents. This study used both the peel and juice of Siam oranges, with the addition of sugar. The orange juice serves as a solvent for the mixture of ingredients, while sugar adds sweetness and helps maintain the consistency of the jam during cooking. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of different proportions of orange peel and juice, with varying sugar concentrations, on the physicochemical and organoleptic characteristics of Siam orange jam, and to determine the optimal formulation. The experiment was designed using a Randomized Complete Block Design in a factorial pattern with two replications. Factor 1 consisted of the proportion of orange peel to orange juice (10:90, 20:80, 30:70), and Factor 2 involved sugar concentration (60%, 65%, 70%) with two replications. Data were analyzed using ANOVA and Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at a 5% significance level. The results showed that the best treatment was the 30:70 ratio of Siam orange peel to juice with 65% sugar (A3G2), which produced jam with the following characteristics: moisture content of 36.99%; pH of 3.44; total dissolved solids (TDS) of 64.24°Brix; reducing sugar of 20.32%; vitamin C content of 16.48 mg/100g; antioxidant activity of 52.10%; spreadability of 7.12 cm; crude fiber of 0.71%; and hedonic test scores for texture (3.16, slightly like), taste (3.12, slightly like), color (4.16, like), aroma (3.40, slightly like), and overall (3.24, slightly like). Abstract

This study aims to understand the activity and effective dose of N-4t-butylbenzoyl Acetate compound as a pain reliever. The analgesic activity test conducted was divided into 5 treatment groups. The analgesic effect test was performed using male mice from the Balb-C strain. In each test, each group consisted of 5 experimental animals. The first group (negative control) was given 1% Na-CMC suspension; the second group (positive control) received 400 mg/kgBW ibuprofen; while the third, fourth, and fifth groups were successively given 200, 400, and 600 mg/kgBW of N-4t-butylbenzoyl Acetate compound, respectively. After the treatment was given to each test animal, an analgesic test was conducted with a 30-minute interval. After that, it was injected with 1% acetic acid and observed for 180 minutes; every 10 minutes, the movement was observed for all treatments. The analysis was carried out by comparing the number of movements (writing reflex). Data analysis was performed statistically using ANOVA (analysis of variance). The number of mouse activities produced by male mice of the Balb-C strain showed that the N-4t-butylbenzoyl acetate compound at a dose of 1.56 mg had the highest activity, % protection, and % analgesic effectiveness compared to the other two doses. Based on statistical analysis, there was no significant difference in all treatments of the N-4t-butylbenzoyl acetate compound when compared to ibuprofen (positive control)

Abstract

Advances in data mining technology enable the use of classification algorithms to predict diseases based on patient data. Selecting the right algorithm is an important factor because it affects the accuracy and effectiveness of the prediction results. This study aims to analyze the performance comparison of three classification algorithms, namely Naïve Bayes, Decision Tree (C4.5), and Support Vector Machine (SVM) in predicting diseases using a health dataset. The research method used was a quantitative experiment with stages of data pre-processing, dataset division, algorithm application, and model evaluation using a confusion matrix, accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score. The results show that the SVM algorithm provides the highest accuracy (88%), Decision Tree produces moderate accuracy (82%) with the advantage of interpretability, while Naïve Bayes is faster but less accurate (78%). These findings confirm that algorithm selection needs to consider both accuracy and ease of interpretation in supporting medical decision-making.

Abstract

Mathematics learning in elementary schools generally remains abstract and disconnected from students’ real- life experiences, which contributes to low engagement and conceptual understanding. In agricultural-based communities, farming activities hold significant potential as sources of mathematical learning through an ethnomathematical approach. This study aims to explore how agricultural ethnomathematics can be integrated into mathematics learning in elementary schools within a local context. The method used is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) by examining 12 national and international scholarly articles indexed in Scopus to Sinta 3 from the past seven years. The analysis focused on research objectives, cultural contexts, mathematical concepts developed, and the instructional models applied. The results show that agricultural practices contain mathematical concepts relevant to measurement, geometry, fractions, and ratio topics. However, the implementation of agricultural ethnomathematics remains limited due to teachers’ low cultural- mathematical literacy and the lack of structured teaching materials. This study concludes that integrating agricultural ethnomathematics can improve students’ conceptual understanding and connect learning with their real-life experiences. Therefore, the development of contextual learning modules and instructional models based on local farming practices is recommended for further application.
