Abstract

The internalization of character education in science learning through a variety of learning media has been researched recently, one of which is through the photonovela media which is the medium of insertion of character values in learning material. The focus of this research is; 1) developing photonovela learning media with character education on work material and energy, 2) knowing photonovela media feasibility as a supplement to physics learning with character education on work material and energy 3) knowing the response of students to photonovela media with character education in an energy material. This research is a Research and Development study adopted the development of Borg and Gall with the subject of junior high school students. The research instruments used were questionnaires by material experts, media experts, and junior high school physics teachers and questionnaires for students' responses in the three schools. The results of the assessment by material experts obtained a percentage of 85%, the assessment of media experts was 90%, and the assessment of junior high school teachers was 84.16%, while the response of students in three junior high schools was 87.6%, 94%, and 93.6%. In conclusion, this study produced a product in the form of appropriate photonovela media as a supplement to physics learning with character education on business material and energy

Abstract

Education in the 21st Century significantly emphasizes developing key competencies, including social responsibility. However, a substantial gap persists between students' theoretical understanding of social responsibility and its practical application, particularly in physics education. This study aims to develop a physics student worksheet based on the ENACT (Engage, Navigate, Anticipate, Conduct, and Take Action) learning model to foster social responsibility among students aged 15 to 16. This study employed the Research and Development (R and D) methodology and adopted the Borg and Gall development model (stages 1–7), involving validation by media and content experts and a practicality assessment. The sample comprised two teachers and 127 students from two public schools in Bandar Lampung, with data collection techniques including structured interviews, observations, and Likert-scale questionnaires. Validation results indicated high quality, with 92% from media experts and 94% from content experts, while practicality assessments yielded scores of 93% from teachers and 89% from students, categorizing the worksheet as highly practical. The teachers and students provided positive feedback, highlighting the worksheet's ease of use, relevance, engaging content, and potential to cultivate social responsibility among students. This study contributes to integrating digital technology into physics education by underscoring the role of interactive learning tools in fostering social responsibility. However, further research is recommended to examine the effectiveness of ENACT-based e-worksheets in diverse educational contexts and across different subject areas.

Abstract

Existing VR environments relies on static asset libraries and predesigned scenarios, which limits personalization and fails to account for diverse user needs. This paper aims Dynamic Virtual Environment Synthesis (DVES), a new framework based on machine learning to generate and control a large library of 3D objects for real-time creation and context-aware adaptation. The research method categorizes the system design into five main components: data collection, preprocessing and annotation, machine learning model training, VR environment integration, and user interaction. DVES allows users to customize VR spaces through natural language, gestures, or biometric feedback, harnessing generative models for creating objects, reinforcement learning for adaptive environments, and neural rendering for adding realism, building foundation for the next-gen entertainment ecosystem. DVES improves gaming, training, therapy, and education by mediating static design and real-time systems. Unlike the existing conventional VR systems which depends on the static and prebuilt scenes, DVES continuously learns from user interactions, enabling the system to evolve dynamically. This novel study investigates scalability, real-time performance, and natural interfaces and provides insights into future applications, giving a custom VR experience to the users. In long term, DVES could serve as a foundation for fully autonomous VR ecosystems, creating a personalized and immersive digital experience. The study ensures transitioning VR from static, predesigned systems to self-sustaining, user-driven digital worlds.

Abstract

Indonesia has characteristics of increasing temperatures that have yet to be widely known. Sudden temperature changes have brought many losses to Indonesians. The study was intended to analyze the level of scientific literacy on the climate-change material for prospective physics teachers in Indonesia. The study employs a qualitative methodology. The study also utilized descriptive analysis techniques by administering surveys to gather participant data. This study uses descriptive analysis techniques through the administration of surveys to collect data from participants. Increased emissions of greenhouse gases are a contributing factor to changes in temperature and climate. The escalation of greenhouse gas emissions in Indonesia leads to climate change as these gases envelop the Earth and trap the sun's heat, intensifying the greenhouse effect. The outcome entails elevated mean temperatures, alterations in precipitation patterns, and occurrences of severe weather events such as floods and droughts. Evaluating climate or temperature changes necessitates education. Education imparts knowledge about the significance of safeguarding the planet to maintain its well-being. Education plays a crucial role in addressing the challenge of climate change, particularly the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Abstract

In the last ten years, there have been many studies on learning models that can increase scientific literacy. One of the models studied is the Guided Inquiry learning model with varying results. So this study aims to verify how much influence the Guided Inquiry model has on students' scientific literacy based on category, level of education, and based on time zones in the territory of Indonesia. This study uses a quantitative descriptive method. Data collection was taken from the last ten years (2013-2022), which was carried out in the Scopus database, Google Scholar, and ERIC (Education Resources Information Center). The number of articles that became the population in this study was 111 articles and 20 articles as samples that met the criteria of this study. The result of the Effect Size on the Guided Inquiry model on scientific literacy is 2.65 in the high category. The effect size of the Guided Inquiry model on scientific literacy based on education level from Elementary School (SD) is 2.29, at the Junior High School (SMP) level is 2.44, at the Senior High School (SMA) level is 3.13, and at university level of 1.45. Effect Size of the Guided Inquiry model on scientific literacy based on the time zone in Indonesia. In the Western Indonesian time zone, it is 3.40 and in the Central Indonesian time zone, it is 2.103. So that the Guided Inquiry model can improve students' scientific literacy skills.

Abstract

High-order thinking skills (HOTS) are essential abilities students must possess in the 21st Century. Understanding students' HOTS is crucial, necessitating measures to gauge the extent of their HOTS. This research aims to determine the feasibility and validity of a science assessment instrument based on integrated research results and Quranic verses. The researchers employed the R&D method with the ADDIE design. The validation was carried out by three material experts and three language experts. The assessment instrument was reliable and valid, had good discriminative power, and had a proportional difficulty level. It can be concluded that the assessment instrument is suitable for measuring students' higher-order thinking skills. This research provides a pioneering approach by integrating Al-Qur'an verses into the science assessment model, highlighting the intersection of religious texts and scientific methodologies. Additionally, the developed instrument measures higher-order thinking skills and offers educators a culturally relevant tool in predominantly Muslim educational settings, potentially enhancing students' engagement and comprehension. This integrative approach offers a fresh perspective on educational assessment tools, urging educators and curriculum developers to view religious texts as valuable resources in shaping contemporary educational paradigms
