Abstract

Entikong is a border area with a vibrant economy developing border areas between countries in terms of economy and education as a supporting factor for Entikong as a growth center in Sanggau Regency. Problems like this impact the economic development and social dynamics of the Entikong community. This study aims at Development Policy and Education Management in the Entikong Border Area from a Political Economy Perspective as a solution to regional development. Qualitative research methods, with literature studies, complement the results of qualitative research. The research results on Development Policy and Education Management in the Entikong Border Area from a Political Economy Perspective, namely First, Entikong Border Area Development Policy from a Political Economy Perspective, strengthening the regional potential and utilizing village funds can encourage the development of the Entikong border area. The possibility of Sanggau Regency in the Entikong border area includes agriculture and plantations such as oil palm and pepper, which are only regional commodities and can be optimally optimized for the development of the Entikong border area and through export and import economic activities through the Entikong border, then also through village funds provided by the government can be used to improve infrastructure and public facilities in the village as a support for economic activities for development. Second, the Education Management Policy in the Entikong Border Area from a Political Economy Perspective by improving the level of education in the Entikong border area, which can become capital and future investment for the progress and development of the Indonesian state.

Abstract

Online gambling has become a pressing concern among adolescents, particularly in digitally literate environments, contributing to behavioral, financial, and academic challenges in schools. This study examines the management of guidance and counseling (BK) services to prevent and address student involvement in online gambling at SMKN 3 Banjarmasin, a vocational high school in Indonesia. A qualitative descriptive design was employed, involving four informants: the school principal, one BK teacher, and two students, all purposively selected based on direct experience with the phenomenon. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and classroom and schoolyard observations, and analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model of data reduction, display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that BK management follows three main stages—planning, implementation, and evaluation. Preventive measures include counseling sessions, classroom guidance, and ongoing student monitoring, while intervention strategies involve parental collaboration, coordination with teachers, and application of school disciplinary policies. This study proposes a procedural management model for integrating guidance and counseling into school frameworks to address online gambling, emphasizing coordination, monitoring, and evaluation. Peer influence and digital exposure remain key challenges. Limitations include the small number of informants and the single-school context, which may affect the transferability of the findings. Future research should involve multiple schools, larger participant samples, and policy-based frameworks for sustainable prevention of online gambling among students.

Abstract

This study seeks to explore and evaluate resource management in efforts to enhance student academic performance at SDN 2 Bakarung Selatan, South Hulu Sungai Regency. The study is motivated by low student academic outcomes, which are believed to be linked to less-than-optimal management of educational resources, including human resources, facilities and infrastructure, as well as school finances. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, with data gathered through observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis. The findings reveal that resource management at SDN 2 Bakarung Selatan involves three main stages. First, the planning stage is still largely formal and does not fully engage all stakeholders. Second, the implementation stage faces challenges such as teacher competency issues, limited learning facilities, and the suboptimal use of BOS funds to enhance academic quality. Third, the evaluation stage is not carried out in a systematic or continuous manner. The principal plays a central role as a learning leader, motivating all school components to collaborate synergistically and participatively. This study highlights the necessity of integrated and context-sensitive resource management, especially in public elementary schools located in rural areas. Key strategies include enhancing teacher competencies, optimizing the use of facilities, and allocating budgets with a focus on improving learning quality. The results are expected to provide insights for the formulation of more effective educational policies and managerial practices in elementary schools.

Abstract

Perkembangan pendidikan alternatif seperti homeschooling menuntut tersedianya tenaga pendidik yang kompeten dan sarana pembelajaran yang memadai. HSC Baitul Izzah Banjarmasin sebagai lembaga penyelenggara homeschooling menghadapi tantangan berupa kurangnya pelatihan bagi guru serta keterbatasan fasilitas pendukung proses belajar. Pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman guru mengenai standar kompetensi pendidik dan pentingnya sarana pembelajaran yang optimal. Kegiatan dilakukan secara tatap muka melalui metode ceramah, demonstrasi, dan diskusi interaktif yang diikuti oleh 10 orang guru dan kepala sekolah. Evaluasi dilakukan melalui pre-test dan post-test yang mencakup lima indikator pemahaman utama. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman yang signifikan: (a) pemahaman kompetensi guru meningkat 50%, (b) strategi pembelajaran meningkat 70%, (c) penggunaan media pembelajaran meningkat 50%, (d) pendekatan psikologis meningkat 40%, dan (e) komunikasi dengan orang tua meningkat 30%. Kegiatan ini juga mendorong penyediaan bahan ajar baru serta terbentuknya perpustakaan mini. Temuan ini menegaskan pentingnya kolaborasi yang bersifat edukatif untuk memperkuat kualitas pembelajaran homeschooling secara keseluruhan.

Abstract

Indonesia’s education system is undergoing a significant transformation with the introduction of a new curriculum. This shift presents unique challenges for Islamic schools (madrasahs), where school leaders must reconcile national education goals with religious principles, all while navigating systemic constraints and limited resources. This study uses Bourdieu’s theoretical framework to examine how Heads of Curriculum (HoCs) respond to these challenges through their leadership strategies. Employing a qualitative phenomenological approach, the study investigates the lived experiences of six HoCs from different madrasahs through semi-structured interviews. Thematic analysis, grounded in Bourdieu’s concepts of habitus, field, and capital, reveals how internal dispositions and systemic influences shape leadership behaviour. The findings show that the HoCs developed adaptive strategies that reflect key themes: leadership and adaptability, resourcefulness and social capital, balancing Islamic values with reform objectives, and navigating policy disparities. These strategies highlight how habitus, shaped by cultural, professional, and systemic experiences, guides leadership practices that balance tradition with modern reform. Ultimately, the study offers valuable empirical insights into curriculum reform in Islamic education and extends Bourdieu’s framework by integrating cultural and religious contexts, showing how school leaders convert structural limitations into opportunities for institutional growth.
