Abstract

Misconceiving fundamental physics concepts is a persistent challenge in education, hindering students' ability to grasp more advanced topics. This study aims to compare students' conceptual understanding and confidence levels using a 4-tier diagnostic instrument. Conducted as a survey involving 56 high school students in Yogyakarta, the research utilized a 4-tier diagnostic test covering topics of temperature and heat. Data were collected through Google Forms and analyzed using Excel and Winsteps 4.6.1 based on the Rasch Model. Data analysis involved coding, preparing raw data, and utilizing Wright maps combined with Logit Value of Person (LVP) for assessing students' conceptual understanding and confidence levels. Results indicated a significant inconsistency between students' conceptual understanding and their confidence, with many students displaying high confidence despite low understanding, and vice versa. This mismatch highlights the necessity for educational strategies that not only clarify concepts but also align students' confidence with their actual understanding. The study's implications suggest the need for more comprehensive diagnostic tools and targeted pedagogical interventions to enhance learning outcomes in physics education.

Abstract

This study was quantitative with a non-reactive or unobstructed approach using Time Series analysis with the ARIMA Box-Jenkins method on secondary data. From secondary data, 1, 3, and 6 monthly data simulations were carried out. Each simulation data was divided into two groups: the first group of initialization data for 2016 – 2019 and the second group of actual data for 2020. The aim of this study was to determine the accuracy of forecasting results using the Box- Jenkins method on the number of pneumonia sufferers at Kamonji Public Health Center, Palu. The 1-monthly data simulation amounted to 48-time series as initialization data, obtained the appropriate forecasting model, namely ARIMA (1,1,1), then forecasting was done, and the results obtained were 289,166 patients with pneumonia. There are 16-time series simulations for 3-monthly data as initialization data and 6-monthly simulations totaling two-time series for initialization data, not finding a suitable model for forecasting. In conclusion, no data simulation gets the right result on the number of pneumonia sufferers because it gets more forecasting results than the actual data. Suggestions that can be given in this research are to use data that is more than five years old.

Abstract

This study has been motivated by the phenomenon of married life facing various challenges of the times. Therefore, this study has taken the topic of the importance of morals in married life, especially in realizing a harmonious and lasting family life. By focusing on Dayak Tamambaloh in Santo Martinus Parish, Sintang Diocese. This study aims to explore the values of marriage customs in light of the moral teachings of the Catholic Church. Dayak Tamambaloh views marriage as a lifelong union of a man and a woman that lasts a lifetime. This Tamambaloh Dayak marriage custom is manifested in the prohibition of adultery, the ideal form of marriage that is heterosexual and has children, and the ban on divorce. The marriage custom of the Dayak Tamambaloh is in line with the nature of marriage in the Catholic Church, which is monogamous and indivisible. This phenomenon has shown the Tamambaloh Dayak as an ethnic group that can adapt their lives to the morality and spirituality of the Catholic Church. Likewise, the Catholic Church has demonstrated a high appreciation for the noble values of the Tamambaloh Dayak culture.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to (1) produce Physics Laboratory Assistance (PLA) that is suitable for use, (2) determine the percentage of Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) using PLA, (3) describe students' HOTS using Rasch modelling analysis, (4) determine the effectiveness of students' HOTS on simple harmonic motion materials in learning. This type of research was research and development (R&D) adapted according to the Borg & Gall model. Data collection used interviews, questionnaires, and test methods. The subjects in this research were students of class X IPA1 MA Ushuluddin Singkawang, X IPA1 and X IPA2 SMAN 1 Selakau. The instrument was declared to be valid in terms of content and empirically by following the analysis of Rasch modelling with the help of the Winstep 3.37 program. The results of the content validation showed that PLA was feasible to use with an average score of 3.61 in the excellent category. The percentage of HOTS of students was analyzed using the Microsoft Excel application in the extensive trial of the experimental class and the control class with an average pretest score of 38.90 and posttest of 39.90. The description of the student's HOTS was analyzed using Rasch modelling, it was obtained that the ability to evaluate is the ability that is most mastered by the student, then create and analyze. The effectiveness of HOTS in students was known to use PLA in learning using effect size obtained in a limited trial of 0.14 and a broad trial of 0.15 with a low category.

Abstract

Scientific creativity is an important thing that every individual must have to answer the challenges of the 21st century. However, in reality, the results of physics research show that the science abilities of Indonesian students are still relatively low, especially in the fields of creativity and innovation. This study aims to produce project-based student worksheet (LKPD) integrated with valid and reliable PhET. This study uses the research and development (RD) method with a 4D development model, which consists of four stages, namely definition, design, development, and dissemination. The instruments in the study used to collect data were validation sheets and student response questionnaire sheets. The results showed that the LKPD integration of PhET obtained an average validity score of 3.95 and a reliability level of 96.25%, including in the very valid and reliable category. The results of the student response questionnaire showed that 93% responded in the very positive category. The conclusion is that this LKPD integration of PhET is proven to be valid and reliable so that it can be an effective learning material for learning physics on global warming and climate change. This study contributes to the development of innovative and relevant learning media to improve the quality of students' physics learning. The limitations of this study have limitations on the application of the 4D model, which only covers the development and Validation stages. Therefore, the implementation of LKPD in the field is needed to improve the scientific creativity of high school students
