Abstract

Fiqh is a branch of Islamic science that discusses the laws of sharia that regulate the lives of Muslims. The subject of Fiqh in schools has an important role in shaping students' understanding of Islamic teachings, but is often considered difficult and uninteresting by students. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the role of teachers in creating an effective learning atmosphere in the subject of Fiqh at MTs Baitur Ridha, Bahorok Langkat District. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data were obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation to understand teacher strategies in increasing students' interest in learning and the obstacles faced in the learning process. The results of the study show that teachers not only act as teachers, but also as motivators who build students' enthusiasm for learning. Interactive methods such as discussion and practice are more effective than monotonous lecture methods. In addition, strategies such as question and answer methods and the use of technology such as computers and infocus have been shown to increase student engagement. However, there are still obstacles such as students' lack of interest in Fiqh material which is considered theoretical and monotonous, as well as limited variations in teaching methods. Interaction between teachers, schools, and parents also plays a role in supporting the effectiveness of learning.

Abstract

This study examines the integration of Islamic legal education in shaping anti-bullying character among students at Madrasah Aliyah Miftahussalam Medan. The research is grounded in the growing concern over the rise of bullying in educational environments, which disrupts students’ psychological well-being, learning processes, and school order. The central research question explores how Islamic legal principles—emphasizing justice, responsibility, brotherhood, and the prohibition of wrongdoing—can be systematically embedded to cultivate students’ capacity to prevent and resist bullying. Using a qualitative design, data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis, and subsequently analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that Islamic legal education is integrated through the strengthening of fiqh muamalah and ethics materials, along with the internalization of Sharia-based values in extracurricular activities and school culture. Routine habituation of respectful conduct, teacher role-modeling, and Sharia-oriented disciplinary enforcement effectively foster empathy, responsibility, and mutual respect among students. These efforts contribute to a noticeable decline in bullying incidents and enhance students’ awareness of maintaining social harmony. The study concludes that Islamic legal education plays a significant role in developing anti-bullying character and that a systematic, holistic integration of Islamic legal values provides an effective model for creating a safe, humanistic, and civilized educational environment.

Abstract

This study investigates the development of character education at the Private Madrasah Aliyah Miftahussalam Medan by examining its conceptual foundation, implementation patterns, and effectiveness within the school environment. The research addresses the central question of how Islamic ethical principles are integrated into daily educational practices to shape students’ moral character. Using a qualitative design, data were collected through classroom observations, interviews with teachers and students, and documentation of institutional programs. The findings reveal that character formation is carried out through structured religious activities, teacher role modelling, extracurricular programs, and environmental habituation that reinforces discipline, respect, and spiritual awareness. The study identifies institutional commitment and teacher exemplarity as supporting factors, whereas challenges arise from limited facilities, inconsistent program implementation, and students’ diverse backgrounds. The study concludes that character development at Miftahussalam Madrasah is progressing yet requires more systematic planning, continuous evaluation, and stronger parental engagement. These findings contribute to the refinement of character education models in contemporary Islamic schooling contexts.

Abstract

Fenomena pernikahan dini masih menjadi persoalan serius di berbagai wilayah Indonesia, termasuk di Kota Medan. Salah satu faktor strategis yang dapat mencegah pernikahan dini adalah pendidikan keluarga. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peran pendidikan keluarga dalam mencegah pernikahan dini di lingkungan V Kelurahan Padang Bulan Kecamatan Medan Baru Kota Medan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif, dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi partisipatif, dan dokumentasi. Informan penelitian meliputi keluarga yang memiliki anak usia remaja, tokoh masyarakat, dan kepala lingkungan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pernikahan dini berdampak negatif pada aspek pendidikan, kesehatan, dan kondisi psikologis remaja, serta berpotensi menimbulkan masalah sosial baru seperti perceraian dan kemiskinan. Pendidikan keluarga berperan penting dalam mencegah pernikahan dini melalui komunikasi yang intensif antara orang tua dan anak, pembinaan nilai keagamaan, serta pengawasan sosial di lingkungan rumah. Namun, pelaksanaan pendidikan keluarga masih menghadapi kendala seperti rendahnya tingkat pendidikan orang tua, tekanan ekonomi, serta kurangnya sinergi antara keluarga dan institusi sosial. Penelitian ini menawarkan model pendidikan keluarga berbasis nilai agama dan kearifan lokal yang adaptif terhadap konteks masyarakat urban. Implikasi praktis penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi rujukan bagi keluarga, lembaga pendidikan, dan pemerintah daerah dalam merumuskan strategi intervensi yang efektif untuk mnekan angka pernikahan ini.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strategies employed by tahfidz teachers to enhance the quality of students’ Qur’an memorization at SMP Islam Plus Al-Fatih. The research adopts a qualitative approach to explore, in depth, the teaching strategies, learning processes, and supporting factors that influence memorization quality. The findings reveal that the strategies implemented by tahfidz teachers are structured, varied, and oriented toward achieving comprehensive memorization quality, including accuracy of recitation, fluency, and retention. The instructional process involves the application of tajwid and tartil methods to ensure correct pronunciation, as well as consistent repetition (muroja’ah) to strengthen memory retention. In addition, teachers play a crucial role as both motivators and facilitators by fostering students’ intrinsic motivation, promoting character education, and utilizing digital Qur’an applications as learning media. These approaches contribute to increased student engagement, discipline, and consistency in memorization. Furthermore, periodic memorization assessments are conducted to monitor and improve students’ memorization quality. These assessments function not only as evaluative tools but also as feedback mechanisms that support continuous improvement. Overall, the study concludes that effective tahfidz learning is achieved through the integration of structured instructional strategies, motivational support, and continuous evaluation. This synergy serves as a key factor in enhancing the quality of students’ Qur’an memorization

Abstract

This study examines the management strategies implemented by madrasahs in improving the quality of Islamic education at the Istiqomah Islamic Full Day School Sri Gunting Foundation. The research addresses how madrasah management policies, programs, and innovations contribute to educational quality improvement and student achievement, as well as the challenges encountered during their implementation. The study employed a qualitative case study approach involving direct observation, in-depth interviews with the principal, teachers, and relevant stakeholders, alongside document analysis. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative techniques to identify patterns, strategies, and institutional practices related to educational quality enhancement. The findings reveal that effective madrasah management is reflected in structured academic planning, teacher development programs, disciplined learning supervision, curriculum integration, and the cultivation of Islamic values within the school environment. The study also identifies several challenges, including limitations in facilities, human resource management, and the adaptation to contemporary educational demands. This study concludes that adaptive and collaborative management strategies significantly contribute to strengthening the quality of Islamic education and improving student learning outcomes in madrasah-based educational institutions.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of the Takrir method in Qur’anic memorization among elementary school students at Balitaku Khatam Quran Super Tanjung Sari Medan and evaluates its effectiveness in improving students’ memorization consistency and retention. The research addresses how repetitive memorization guided by teachers contributes to students’ ability to memorize the Qur’an systematically and effectively at the elementary education level. This study employed a qualitative case study approach, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that the consistent application of the Takrir method significantly improves students’ memorization skills, strengthens concentration, and cultivates disciplined learning habits during the memorization process. The study also found that intensive repetition combined with teacher guidance creates positive interactions between teachers and students, making the learning environment more engaging and supportive. This study concludes that the Takrir method is an effective instructional strategy for Qur’anic memorization at the elementary school level because it supports gradual memorization, strengthens long-term retention, and enhances students’ learning motivation and discipline.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This study aims to explore three main aspects, namely the forms of da'wah management implemented, the challenges faced, and the strategies adopted to create inclusive religious programs that are accessible to all congregations. Methodology: The research employed a descriptive qualitative design with purposive site selection. Primary data were collected through in-depth interviews with mosque administrators, preachers, active congregants, and community leaders. Secondary data were gathered from administrative records and program documentation. Data analysis followed Miles and Huberman’s interactive model, which consists of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Main Findings: The findings indicate that da'wah activities function not only as religious gatherings but also as social learning arenas where congregants collectively negotiate values, identities, and intergroup relations. These activities are managed through systematic planning, congregation segmentation, diverse program implementation, and participatory evaluation. They also serve as a medium for interethnic interaction and cultural exchange that directly contribute to ethno-social pedagogy. Within this pedagogical space, local cultural wisdom and community-based religious understanding are integrated to strengthen inclusive learning processes. Ultimately, the management of da'wah in this context strengthens da'wah's role as a dynamic social learning arena that not only promotes inclusive religious education but also enriches ethno-social pedagogical practices that are essential for maintaining long-term social cohesion. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study provides evidence that Masjid Muslimin serves as a model of inclusive da’wah management in an urban context and demonstrates the potential of mosque-based religious governance to strengthen communal relations in multicultural settings. Its contribution lies in illustrating the socio-pedagogical value of structured da’wah management for enhancing inclusive participation among diverse Muslim congregants.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: The purpose of this study is to examine teachers’ understanding of madhhab moderation and its implementation in shaping students’ tolerant attitudes at Dafa Integrated Islamic Primary School in Binjai City. Methodology: This study adopts a qualitative descriptive method supported by observation, interviews, and documentation. Data validity is ensured through source triangulation and technique triangulation. The research participants consist of the school principal, the vice principal for curriculum affairs, and Islamic Religious Education teachers. Main Findings: The findings show that teachers possess a strong conceptual understanding of madhhab moderation, particularly in distinguishing between fundamental principles and subsidiary matters in Islamic jurisprudence. This understanding is applied through the use of a multi-madhhab curriculum, interactive and reflective learning strategies such as discussion, role play, and guided reflection, and a school culture that encourages respect for differences. These practices collectively contribute to the development of students’ tolerant attitudes, reflected in inclusive communication, appreciation of diverse worship practices, and the formation of harmonious social interactions among peers. Beyond classroom outcomes, these attitudes strengthen social cohesion within the school community and encourage more peaceful interactions among students’ families. The educational implications extend to the broader community, where the cultivation of tolerant behavior among students contributes to fostering an inclusive social environment and supports long-term community integration. Novelty/Originality of this study: The novelty of this study lies in demonstrating that conceptual clarity among Islamic Religious Education teachers, when combined with consistent pedagogical practice and supportive school culture, plays a significant role in strengthening character education and promoting social integration. The study contributes new insights into how theological understanding and educational praxis can work together to develop a moderate, empathetic, and socially responsible young generation.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: The study also aims to demonstrate how Qur’anic instructional strategies contribute to shaping students’ discipline, responsibility, cooperation, empathy, and spiritual awareness as essential elements of Character Education. Methodology: This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach. The participants include Islamic Religious Education teachers of Grade XI, with the primary focus placed on the pedagogical strategies they implement. Data were collected through classroom observations, in-depth interviews with teachers, school leaders, and students, and documentation of lesson plans, classroom activities, and assessment records. Data analysis followed Miles and Huberman’s interactive model, involving three stages: data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Main Findings: The findings reveal that teachers implement several transformative learning strategies, including differentiated instruction, peer teaching, digital media integration, and motivational reinforcement. These strategies effectively meet students’ diverse learning needs and significantly improve their Qur’anic recitation performance, tajwid accuracy, and memorization ability. Beyond academic outcomes, these approaches foster crucial social character values such as discipline, collaboration, empathy, perseverance, and responsibility. They also nurture students’ respect for the Qur’an as both a moral compass and a spiritual foundation. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study provides empirical evidence that adaptive and transformative pedagogical strategies within Islamic Religious Education can simultaneously enhance Qur’anic learning outcomes and strengthen socio-moral character formation. Its originality lies in demonstrating how the integration of traditional teaching methods with modern instructional innovations contributes to academic achievement as well as the development of essential moral, social, and spiritual values. The research thus offers a meaningful contribution to contemporary discourse on Character Education in Islamic schooling.
