Abstract

Infeksi cacing ditularkan melalui tanah Soil Transmitted Helminths (STH) termasuk salah satu infeksi yang paling umum di seluruh dunia dengan perkiraan 1,5 miliar orang yang terinfeksi atau 24% dari populasi dunia. Penyakit ini ditularkan dari tangan kotor, kuku, dan jarang cuci tangan yang menyebabkan terselipnya terlur cacing yang dapat masuk ketubuh manusia. Pengabdian Masyarakat dilakukan dengan memberikan penyuluhan di SDN 068008 dengan jumlah sasaran 50 murid. Pemberian Edukasi kepada pada anak-anak menjaga kebersihan tangan dengan cara 6 langkah cuci tangan yang benar dan selalu menggunakan alas kaki serta membiasakan hidup bersih. Penyuluhan dilakukan agar dapat mencegah terinfeksi cacing yang membuat anak-anak menjadi lemah, penurunan imun dan stanting akibat nutrisi diserapnya oleh cacing

Abstract

Abstract. The use of snakehead fish (Channa striata) collagen in cream is an alternative toreduce fish wastes. It has been proved that snakehead fish (Channa striata) contain collagen.This research aims to study the burn wound healing effectivity of bone’s collagen fromsnakehead fish (Channa striata) that is formulated into a cream. This study used theexperimental method with the bone of snakehead fish (Channa striata) as a sample. This studyconsisted of 4 (four) such as isolation of collagen from snakehead fish's (Channa striata) bone,characterization of collagen by analyzing moisture, ash, protein, fat and functional groupanalysis with FTIR, formulation, and evaluations of cream such as organoleptic test,homogeneity test, pH measurement, stability test, and irritation test, and burn wound healingtest in male white rats (Rattus norvegicus) and the result is analyzed using SPSS 22.0 Free trialand One Way ANOVA and Post-Hoc Tukey HSD. The results showed that fish collagen couldbe isolated from snakehead fish (Channa striata) and the yield obtained is 33.3%. The results ofcollagen characterization and evaluation test met the collagen standard requirements. Results ofthe burn wound healing test on male white rats (Rattus norvegicus) showed that K1 burn woundrecovered on day 21, K2 on day 12, K3 on day 15, K4 on day 18, and K5 on day 18.Measurement of burn wound diameter on day 21 showed K1 = 1.20 cm, K2 = 0.15 cm, K3 =0.10 cm, K4 = 0.45 cm, K5 = 0.40 cm. The results of the statistical analysis of burn wounddiameter showed a significant difference p = 0,000 (p <0.05) between each group. K3 showedthe reduction in the burn wound diameter is faster and the smallest, it can be concluded that theoptimal dose of snakehead fish bone’s collagen cream is a concentration of 3%.

Abstract

Wuluh starfruit (Averrhoa bilimbi L.) has a sour taste and high water content which makes the fruit easily damaged and has a short shelf life. It is necessary to process wuluh starfruit in order to obtain a product that has a longer shelf life and tastes better without reducing its benefits. The purpose of this study was to determine the wuluh starfruit in the form of ethanol extract can be formulated into a dry suspension dosage form with arenga gum as a suspension which at a certain concentration can be an optimal suspending agent. Based on the results showed that the ethanol extract of wuluh starfruit (Averrhoa bilimbi L.) could be formulated into a dry suspension. The preparation with 0.5% arenga gum as a suspending agent is the best preparation which has a moisture content of 0.46%, stationary angle of 26.48º, flow time of 4.77 seconds, compressibility index of 18%, particle size distribution 152.133μm, viscosity 106.00 cP, pH 4.16 and sedimentation volume 0.55. Data were analyzed using SPSS 26.0 using one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) test and post hoc Multiple Comprasions Tukey HSD test.

Abstract

Hipertensi merupakan penyakit tidak menular yang kasusnya terus terjadi peningkatan di masyarakat dan menjadi salah satu faktor risiko utama pada penyakit kardiovaskular. Minimnya kesadaran masyarakat terhadap upaya pencegahan hipertensi melalui pola hidup sehat serta pemanfaatan bahan alami menjadi salah satu penyebab tingginya angka kejadian hipertensi. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan warga Bunga Cempaka Gang Cempaka Bersama Kelurahan PB. Selayang II, Kecamatan Medan Selayang, dalam mencegah hipertensi dengan memanfaatkan ramuan tradisional berbahan dasar tanaman obat keluarga (TOGA). Metode kegiatan ini meliputi penyuluhan kesehatan mengenai hipertensi dan faktor risikonya, disertai presentasi cara pembuatan ramuan tradisional penurun tekanan darah seperti daun seledri, daun salam, dan sereh, dengan salah satu metode ekstraksi yaitu infusa. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman peserta tentang pentingnya pencegahan hipertensi dan kemampuan mereka dalam meracik ramuan tradisional yang aman dan mudah diaplikasikan. Kegiatan ini diharapkan dapat mendorong kemandirian masyarakat dalam menjaga kesehatan melalui pendekatan alami dan berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Background: Bacterial infections remain a major global health burden, with antibiotic resistance increasingly limiting treatment options. Natural plant-based compounds represent a promising alternative source of antimicrobial agents. Baccaurea racemosa Mull.Arg. (kepundung), a tropical fruit plant native to Southeast Asia, is traditionally used in folk medicine; however, its seed fractions have not been comprehensively evaluated for antibacterial activity against both Gram-negative and Gram-positive pathogens in a single systematic study. Objectives: This study aimed to characterize the secondary metabolite profile and evaluate the comparative antibacterial activity of n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and ethanol extracts of B. racemosa seeds against Escherichia coli ATCC 25922 and Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923. Methods: Seeds were subjected to successive maceration using solvents of increasing polarity (n-hexane, ethyl acetate, ethanol). Phytochemical screening was performed using standard colorimetric assays. Antibacterial activity was assessed by the Kirby–Bauer disk diffusion method at concentrations of 25, 50, 100, and 200 mg/mL, with chloramphenicol as positive control and 1% DMSO as negative control. Results: Phytochemical screening detected alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, glycosides, saponins, and steroids in all extracts. Against E. coli, the ethanol extract exhibited the largest inhibition zone (44.5 ± 1.7 mm at 200 mg/mL), classified as very strong (>20 mm), compared to ethyl acetate (8.25 ± 3.4 mm) and n-hexane (6.36 ± 1.9 mm). Against S. aureus, the ethanol extract produced an inhibition zone of 13.68 ± 0.33 mm, followed by ethyl acetate (7.46 ± 4.7 mm) and n-hexane (5.08 ± 0.78 mm). The ethanol extract demonstrated significantly higher activity against E. coli than S. aureus (p < 0.05), while n-hexane and ethyl acetate fractions showed comparable moderate activity against both bacteria. Conclusion: Baccaurea racemosa seed ethanol extract demonstrates significant antibacterial activity, particularly against Gram-negative E. coli, attributed to its polar phenolic compounds including flavonoids and tannins. These findings support the potential of B. racemosa seeds as a source of natural antibacterial agents for further pharmaceutical development.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the potential of eupatorin found in Cat’s Whiskers (Orthosiphon stamineus) as an anticancer agent using in silico methods. Eupatorin was selected due to its promising biological activity reported in previous literature. The research employed compound structure data registered in PubChem, analyzed through PASS Online for pharmacological activity prediction, ProTox-II for toxicity evaluation, and pkCSM for ADMET parameters. The results indicated that eupatorin has a high probability of inhibiting cancer cell proliferation with significant pharmacological activity values. Toxicity predictions showed a safe profile with an LD50 supporting its potential therapeutic use. ADMET analysis demonstrated that eupatorin possesses good bioavailability, adequate absorption and distribution, and minimal metabolic interactions, supporting its efficacy as an anticancer compound. These findings suggest that eupatorin could be an important candidate for herbalbased drug development, particularly for cancer therapy, and provide opportunities for further research through in vitro and in vivo experiments to validate anticancer activity comprehensively.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the phytochemical profile of Sambung Nyawa (Gynura procumbens) leaves as a potential herbal candidate for mild hypertension therapy using in silico methods. Plant samples were examined to identify active compounds documented in the PubChem database. The identified compounds were further analyzed using PASS Online to predict their pharmacological activities, ProTox-II to evaluate toxicity levels, and pkCSM to assess ADMET (Absorption, Distribution, Metabolism, Excretion, and Toxicity) characteristics. The findings reveal that several bioactive compounds present in Sambung Nyawa leaves demonstrate strong predicted anti-hypertensive activity accompanied by minimal toxicological risk. PASS Online analysis indicates potential mechanisms of action, including vascular receptor modulation and mild diuretic properties that may support blood pressure regulation. ProTox-II classification places most compounds in the low-toxicity category, while pkCSM predictions confirm acceptable bioavailability and favorable pharmacokinetic properties. Overall, these results provide a preliminary scientific foundation for the development of Gynura procumbens as an alternative herbal therapy for mild hypertension and support the need for further validation through in vitro and in vivo experimental studies.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the in silico profile of the compound orientin derived from the water hyacinth plant (Eichhornia crassipes) as a potential antioxidant candidate. Orientin was selected based on its chemical structure data registered in PubChem, which provides complete information regarding molecular identity, physicochemical properties, and 2D and 3D structural representations. The prediction of biological activity was conducted using PASS Online, which indicated that orientin possesses a promising likelihood of exhibiting antioxidant activity according to relevant probability values. Furthermore, the safety assessment of the compound was carried out through ProTox-II to identify potential toxicity, including toxicity class, possible hepatotoxic effects, and other predicted safety parameters. To determine its pharmacokinetic profile, pkCSM was employed to predict ADMET characteristics such as absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion, and additional toxicity risks. The results of these analyses show that orientin demonstrates favorable potential as an antioxidant candidate, supported by predicted pharmacological properties and relatively low toxicity levels according to in silico evaluations. Therefore, orientin has promising potential for further development in subsequent in vitro and in vivo studies.

Abstract

This study aims to comprehensively evaluate the potential pharmacological activities and safety profiles of seven secondary metabolite compounds (Caffeic Acid, Syringic Acid, Quercetin, Luteolin, p-Coumaric Acid, Ferulic Acid, and Epicatechin) identified in the Bajakah plant (Spatholobus littoralis Hassk.). The research approach integrates in silico analysis using the PubChem database, biological activity prediction via PASS Online, oral toxicity assessment through ProTox-II, and pharmacokinetic evaluation using pkCSM, which were subsequently validated through an empirical literature review. The results indicate that these compounds exhibit significant activity probabilities, particularly as antimutagenic, antiseptic, and antioxidant agents. Luteolin demonstrated the highest antimutagenic potential, while Quercetin showed dominant antioxidant activity. Toxicity profiling revealed that Luteolin and Caffeic Acid possess the highest safety levels (Class 5), whereas Quercetin requires special attention (Class 3). These computational findings strongly correlate with empirical evidence demonstrating that Bajakah extract exhibits broad-spectrum antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, antifungal activity against Candida albicans, as well as high antioxidant and anti-inflammatory capacities. This study provides a strong molecular foundation for the development of Bajakah as a safe and effective phytopharmaceutical candidate.

Abstract

Introduction: Galactomannan is found in the endosperm of seeds in the Fabaceae family, for example durian seeds (Durio zibethinus L). Galactomannan is a natural polysaccharide as an additional ingredient. Objective: The research aims to determine the Galactomannan content in Durian seeds isolated by chromatography and to determine the Galactomannan content in Durian seeds using the Luff Schoorl method. Methods: The research was carried out by extracting galactomannan from Durian seeds using distilled water by heating them for 5 minutes. Purification was carried out using paper chromatography with various variations of mobile phases, namely BEW (Butanol: Ethanol: Water), BAW (Butanol: Acetic acid: Water), Glacial acetic acid 10%, Glacial acetic acid 50%, HCl 10%, HCl 20% and Thin layer chromatography with the mobile phase n-Hexane: Ethylacetate at varying ratios of 3:7 and 7:3. Purity testing is carried out using the Luff Scroorl method. Results: Extraction of 500 g of durian seeds produces 1,8% Galactomannan. The levels before and after inversion using the Luff Schoorl method were respectively 8.0131 and 7.0679 mg/mg. Conclusion: Galactomannan can be obtained from extracting durian seeds and its inverse using the Luff Scroorl method.
