Abstract

This research is motivated by the low motivation of students to learn physics at SMA Negeri 1 Wonoayu. Based on the preliminary study conducted by the author in Class XI-3, it shows that 51.2% of students have low motivation to learn physics. Learning that is solely based on textbooks and not connected to the students' conditions, including their past experiences and their social and cultural backgrounds, can lead to low student participation and motivation. Therefore, efforts are needed from teachers to make physics learning more engaging, one of which is by implementing the Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) approach. CRT is a teaching approach that utilizes students' cultural references as a means to learn a subject matter. This research is a collaborative classroom action research conducted in two cycles. Data related to student motivation was obtained through a motivation questionnaire, while student learning outcomes in the knowledge domain were obtained through written tests. The research results show a significant improvement in physics learning motivation, starting from the initial observation, Cycle 1, and ending in Cycle 2, which are 48.8%, 70.5%, and 82.9%, respectively. Additionally, student learning outcomes also improved from Cycle 1 to Cycle 2, increasing from 61.1% to 94.4%. This indicates that the implementation of the CRT approach in physics learning is effective in enhancing student motivation and learning outcomes.

Abstract

Studying physics requires a good understanding of concepts. However, each student has a different ability to understand physics. The difference in students' understanding ability makes students vulnerable to misconceptions. Misconceptions can occur in all physics materials, such as effort and energy materials. One of the misconceptions of work and energy material is that students assume that when applying force to objects shows work, even though no displacement occurs. Misconceptions can hinder the process of acceptance by students of new knowledge or materials that are interrelated with other materials. Therefore, it is necessary to identify misconceptions and their causes as an initial effort in overcoming student misconceptions. The purpose of this study was to identify students' misconceptions and their causes using the five tier diagnostic test instrument. This research is a quantitative descriptive research by starting with a literature study through research articles, making test instruments, then validating the instrument to state the feasibility of the instrument, then collecting data from class XI students of SMA Negeri 1 Cerme. Student test results were analyzed descriptively and the results showed that the misconceptions of work and energy as a whole showed a percentage of 43%. The most misconceptions occur in question number 11 regarding the concept of work by spring force, while the question items with the least misconceptions are questions number 1, 12, and 15 regarding the concepts of work, power, and potential energy. Identification of the cause of the biggest misconception of effort and energy is due to preconceptions with a percentage of 38%. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the material of work and energy has misconceptions with the most identified causes of misconceptions due to preconceptions.Studying physics requires a good understanding of concepts. Abstract

In the current era, the ability to represent is one of the most important abilities for a person to have. Representation skills are very necessary because they are the basis for thinking and building concepts, and can be applied for problem solving. Even though it is very important, several studies show the low ability of students. Therefore, this research was carried out with the aim of describing the implementation of learning, increasing representation abilities, and student responses after implementing pictorial riddle-based LKPD with a guided inquiry learning model. This research uses a quasi-experimental type with a nonequivalent control group design. This research was carried out at SMAN 1 Sukodadi with subjects in class XI A1 as the experimental class and XI A2 as the control class. Both classes were given the same pretest-posttest questions with different treatments. Next, the student test results were analyzed using the T-Independent test with the condition that a normality test and homogeneity test were carried out, then the N-gain calculation was carried out. The results of this research were that the percentage of learning implementation in the three consecutive meetings was 96.67%, 99.24%, and 100%, the N-gain score for the experimental class was 0.76 while the control class was 0.60, and the percentage of student responses was 85.21%. So it can be concluded that the implementation of learning has very good criteria, the application of pictorial riddle-based LKPD with a guided inquiry learning model is able to produce an increase in representation skills that are more effective than just applying guided inquiry, and student responses have very good criteria.

Abstract

A good instrument is an instrument that has theoretical (according to experts) and empirical feasibility (empirical trials). Theoretical feasibility obtained validity according to three experts, and empirical feasibility obtained validity of the question items; the power of different questions that can differentiate smart and not smart students; also the level of difficulty of the questions (not difficult and not easy) that meets the criteria. The aim of this research is to analyze feasibility theoretically and empirically. The research method used is a test item validity instrument to obtain theoretical feasibility, and empirical trials to obtain empirical feasibility. Data collection techniques include validation techniques and test techniques. 105 students divided into three classes answered 5 questions on basic black material according to the indicators of critical thinking skills on the G-Form which were then analyzed. The results of this research are that theoretically from three experts the instrument used is very valid, empirically the results of the trial are seen from the test scores which are then analyzed per item, resulting in the validity of the instrument being categorized as valid, the differentiating power of the questions being categorized as good, and the level of difficulty of the questions being categorized as moderate. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the critical thinking skills test instrument based on G-Form on basic black material is suitable for use. Abstract

In order to achieve success in the 21st century, students need to equip themselves with four essential learning competencies: think critically, have a good understanding, be able to collaborate and communicate well, and develop their creativity. Students who think critically are able to draw conclusions, interpret information, analyze, evaluate, explain and control their own thinking processes. This research aims to analyze theoretical validity by experts consisting of the content, construct and language domains as well as reliability and analyze empirical tests on the validity, reliability, level of difficulty and differentiability of each critical thinking ability test instrument. Limited trials were carried out in this research from class X students at SMA Khadijah Surabaya involving 91 students. Critical thinking test instrument with 6 questions in multiple choice form. According to the research results, the theoretical validity in the language domain was 4.33; the construct domain is 4 and the content domain is 4.33 with a very valid category. Then for theoretical reliability using the percentage of agreement calculation, the results were 87%, which is in the very high category. Then, a limited trial was carried out and obtained empirical validity of the question items of 0.397 to 0.528 with the six question items declared valid. Then, the instrument reliability obtained was r11 of 0.250 and was declared reliable. Then, the level of difficulty for the six question items ranges from 0.49 to 0.55 in the medium category. Then, the differential power of the six question items ranges from 0.44 to 0.68 in the good category. Thus, by analyzing the criteria for the questions consisting of validity, reliability, level of difficulty and differentiation, it was found that the six question items met the requirements and could be used.
