Abstract

Skills in the learning process are needed by students to be able to shape and develop the character possessed. This study aims to identify basic science process skills of students assisted practical worksheet based on multiple representations as media. This research was conducted by observation method that was done at the time of practicum activity by using an observation sheet and test method with response test. Students did practicum with practical worksheet media equipped with basic science process skills indicator and multiple representation level. Then the students worked the question with the basic science process skill indicators in it. Based on the analysis of the observation result, the basic science process skills profile of students in SMAN 11 Semarang was included in the high criteria with a range of 68 to 84. The criteria for each basic science process skills indicator were also analyzed from practicum 1 and practicum 2 which is high for indicators to observation, classifying, measuring, inferencing, predicting and knowing the relation of numbers and very high for indicators communicating and knowing relation between space and time. It can be concluded that students have demonstrated proficiency profile of basic science process. This research can be used as a reference for teachers and other researchers to improve student’s basic science process skills on different subjects.

Abstract

This research was a mixed method with the design of sequential explanatory strategy. This research aims to identify student misconception on buffer solution material and obtain student response to multiple representation-chemoentrepreneurship (entrepreneurship in the chemistry field) teaching materials. Research subjects were 114 students from grade XI MIPA 3, XI MIPA 4, and XI MIPA 5 SMA Negeri 12 Semarang academic year 2017/2018. Three-tier multiple choice diagnostic test obtained from the research data amounted to 20 items, questionnaire to know the student's response to teaching materials, and interview to confirm student's answer. The result of the validation of teaching materials by three validators shows that the teaching materials of multiple representation-chemoentrepreneurship are very suitable to be used in chemistry learning with an average score of 190.33 from 212. The average score of the questionnaire is 28,026 with proper category and reliability of 0.906. The misconception profile obtained is the definition and the properties of the buffer solution 3.421%; the components of buffer solution 2.149%; working principle 2.632%; pH of buffer solution 3.596%; and the role of buffer solution 0.965% with a total misconception 12.763%.

Abstract

This study aims to design a diagnostic test instrument misconceptions of Reduction and Oxidation reaction (redox) methods of Three-Tier Multiple Choice by developing Redox Diagnostic Test (RDT) software. The use of RDT can produce diagnostic test results of students' understanding immediately after the process of testing work. The understanding profiles experienced by the students in each class can be automatically captured so that the understanding of students' understanding time becomes shorter than the manual way. Although the testing work is done online, students cannot access the software outside the school computer lab so as to avoid the student dishonesty in the test. The research method used is Research and Development (R & D). The research model adopted in the Four-D development model with the research stage that is, define, design, develop, and dissemination. The result of content validation gets a score of 47 is on a very feasible criterion, so also media validation get score 28,5 is at very reasonable criteria. The results of the analysis of the level of understanding show that the test instrument using RDT software can diagnose understanding students well. Based on the small and large scale test set 19 item questions used in the test instrument. The result of instruments reliability test on the large-scale test by using KR-21 formula is 0,72 which belongs to a good category.

Abstract

Science process skills are indispensable for educators in the world of education or in everyday life that includes observing, categorizing, interpreting, forecasting, questioning, formulating hypotheses and communicating. The aim of this research is to develop of inquiry-based chemical practicum green chemistry-oriented for improving the students' science process skills in a colloid material. This research is a type of R & D research with One Group Pretest-posttest Design design applied to test the application of practicum as the product of development. The criteria for the success of this study are valid practicum, increasing KPS and getting a positive response from learners. Research data obtained by observation method, documentation, questionnaire and test. Device validation results obtained valid criteria (3.8 of 4). The results of early practicum KPS were in enough and fewer categories, improved on the final lab in the good and excellent category. The average of cognitive learning outcomes of the broad test classes is 79.20 (> of KKM) and the proportion of classical learning completion is greater than 80% or 24 of the 30 students reach the KKM. Students respond positively to the practicum in the "strongly agree" criteria.

Abstract

This study aims to develop the submicroscopic book and improving of students learning outcomes for remedial programs. A remedial program is one of the lessons used to improve student understanding and learning outcomes. The results of a survey conducted by researchers at 10 SMA/ MA in Cirebon that the implementation of remedial program rarely carried out remedial teaching activities due to time constraints. This research used R & D method with 4-D model which consists of 4 stages, that were define, design, develop, and dessimination. The results of a small scale test that there was an inproving in students learning outcomes after participating in the remedial program, from 17.14% to 58.62%. The results of a large scale test were carried out in two classes with an increase in student learning outcomes from 12.50% to 71.43% and 17.50% to 78.79%. Students gave the positive responses for remedial learning used submicroscopic book. The response of students in the small-scale test was 78.02% (good) and the results of a large-scale test were 80.50% (good) and 81.17% (very good). The teachers also gave a positive response for use of the submicroscopic book and that was 86.67% (very good). The use of this submicroscopic book can be the one of solutions for implementing remedial teaching.

Abstract

Critical thinking definition is reasonably and reflectively thinking focused on what to believe or do. In today settings, the ability to think critically is very important, due to the increasing amount of information that must be processed before deciding something. National Science Olympiad is one of the vessels to increase this important skill in our students. Unfortunately, the OSN questions were not designed for measuring this skill. The aim of this research was to design an instrument that measure the critical thinking skill of the OSN participants. This was an R & D type of research, that was done following Four-D method, consists of define, design, development, and dissemination steps. The criteria for a good instrument are validity, reliability, discrimination power, and difficulty level must be sufficient. The result of the research shows that the instrument is valid (89,9% response from experts); reliable (KR-20 is 0,830); with sufficient average of discrimination power (DP is 0,378); and difficulty level (TK is 0,613).
