Abstract

Dairy cows as milk-producing livestock will show their best performance if their maintenance management is carried out well. Good dairy cattle management can be done by referring to Good Dairy Farming Practice (GDFP). This service activity was carried out to increase the knowledge and skills of dairy farmers in Wesalo Village, Lalolae Village, East Kolaka Regency. The stages of this activity include: 1). activity preparation; 2. technical guidance on management of dairy cattle maintenance according to GDPP; 3. monitoring and evaluating activities. This activity is very beneficial for breeders in Wesalo Village because the breeders are new to and starting to raise dairy cattle. During the activity, the breeders were very active in discussing and enthusiastically listening to the speakers' presentations. Breeders are also very enthusiastic and focused on paying attention to the technical guidance provided during direct visits to the breeder's pen. Implementation of GDFP can be carried out by paying attention to aspects: 1). breeding and reproduction; 2). provision of feed and drinking water; 3). management; 4). cages and equipment; 5). livestock health and welfare. This community service activity closed with monitoring and evaluation to determine the level of understanding and help farmers who experience difficulties in raising dairy cattle. This activity can increase the knowledge and skills of farmers so they can maintain and develop dairy cows.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Indonesia has tropical rainforests that are so vast and have a diversity of plants. The study aimed to identify the diversity of undergrowth in the teak forest area as a source of fodder for Bali cattle in Watopute District, Muna Regency, to be carried out in August–December 2022 with purpose location determination and village surveys using stratified random sampling based on area criteria low, medium, and high. Data collection used the field observation method by exploring and taking samples using a 10x30 m2 transect. The research variables included observations of plant species in the teak forest area and forage plant species in the teak forest area, which were then analyzed using the summed dominance ratio formula. The results of research on plant species in the teak forest area show that there are 17 families with 43 species, and for plant species that can be used as a source of feed for breeders, there are as many as 16 species. From the research, it can be concluded that livestock looking for food in the teak forest area in Watopute District consists of 16 plant species.Keywords: plants, teak forest, bali cattle, watopute

Abstract

ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi pengaruh penggunaan tepung kulit singkong fermentasi (FCPF) terhadap bobot potong, bobot karkas, dan persentase karkas ayam kampung super. Rancangan dalam penelitian ini adalah rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan 4 perlakuan dan 5 ulangan. Perlakuan tersebut adalah T1 (ransum yang mengandung 0% FCPF), T2 (ransum yang mengandung 5% FCPF), T3 (ransum yang mengandung 10% FCPF), dan T4 (ransum yang mengandung 15% FCPF). Parameter penelitan yaitu bobot potong, bobot karkas, persentase karkas, persentase kulit, persentase daging dan persentase tulang. Analisis data menggunakan analisis varians (ANOVA) dan Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tepung kulit singkong fermentasi dalam ransum berpengaruh nyata (p<0,05) terhadap bobot potong tetapi tidak berpengaruh nyata (p>0,05) terhadap bobot karkas, persentase karkas, persentase kulit, persentase daging, dan persentase tulang. Kadar tepung kulit singkong fermentasi kadar 10% menunjukkan tingkat optimal yang dapat direspon baik oleh ayam kampung super, sedangkan FCPF di atas 10% justru menurunkan bobot potong ayam kampung super.Kata kunci: ayam kampung super, tepung singkong fermentasi; tepung, sembelih timbang karkas Super Native Chicken Carcass Qualities FedFermented Cassava Peel FlourABSTRACTThis study aims to evaluate the effect of using fermented cassava peel flour (FCPF) on slaughter weight, carcass weight and carcass percentage of super native chicken. The design used in this study is a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 5 replications. The treatments are T1 (rations containing 0% FCPF), T2 (rations containing 5% FCPF), T3 (rations containing 10% FCPF) and T4 (rations containing 15% FCPF). The parameters observed are slaughter weight, carcass weight, carcass percentage, skin percentage, meat percentage and bone percentage. The data obtained were analyzed by analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Duncan’sMultiple Range Test (DMRT). The results of the study, shows that fermented cassava peel flour in the ration has a significant effect (p<0.05) on slaughter weight but no significant effect (P> 0.05) on carcass weight, carcass percentage, skin percentage, meat percentage and bone percentage. Fermented cassava peel flour on 10% level shows the optimal effect that can be responded well by super native chickens, while FCPF above 10% actually decreases slaughter weight.Keywords: super native chicken, fermented cassava peel flour, slaughter weight, carcass

Abstract

ABSTRACTGoat's milk has superior nutritional content, fat and protein in goat's milk are easier to digest, and the vitamin B1 content is higher than cow's milk. The body can utilize goat's milk containing PUFA n-3 as a functional food that is very beneficial for the body's health. The characteristics of goat's milk are rich in nutrients and contain long-chain saturated fatty acids, making goat's milk easily rancid and prone to microorganism contamination. The first treatment that can prevent goat milk spoilage is heating or pasteurization. The purpose of this research was to determine the quality of goat's milk rich in polyunsaturated fatty Acid (PUFA) pasteurized at different heat temperatures treatment. The goat’s milk was pasteurized at  80°C for 15 minutes   (treatment P1), pasteurized at  90°C for 10 minutes (treatment P4),  pasteurized at 100ºC  for  15 seconds (treatment P4), and raw milk as a control. The variables measured were sensory quality (color, smell, and taste) and chemical content (protein, fat, and lactose). The research was done by completely randomized design, then the data collected were analyzed using analysis of variance followed by Duncan's New Multiple Range Test. The results showed that the protein content in PUFA-rich goat's milk significantly decreased at 100 oC for 5 seconds, while fat content, lactose, color, odor, and the taste did not change.Keywords: Goat’s milk, pasteurization, milk quality.

Abstract

Umbi gadung (Discorea hispida Dennst) merupakan sumber pangan alternatif dan memiliki kandungan pati sebagai sumber karbohidrat. Tetapi, memiliki kandungan sianida dan dioskorin yang cukup tinggi. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui potensi nutrien umbi gadung (Dioscorea hispida Dennst) dalam ekstrak kulit langir (Albizia saponaria Lour). Penelitian telah dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Ilmu Nutrisi dan Teknologi Pakan Fakultas Peternakan Universitas Halu Oleo, menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) 4 perlakuan dengan 4 ulangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa umbi gadung (Dioscorea hispida Dennst) memiliki potensi nutrien yang baik pada level pemberian ekstrak kulit langir 15%, meningkat sampai 15,02%, menurunkan kadar lemak menjadi 0,30% dengan kandungan serat kasar, kadar air, bahan kering, bahan organik dan kadar abu yang dihasilkan masih dalam kategori yang optimal.  Kata Kunci: nutrients, wild yam, excretion langirNutrient Potential of Wild Yam (Dioscorea hispida Dennst) Soaked in Langir Bark Extract (Albizia Saponaria Lour)ABSTRACT Tubers (Discorea hispida Dennst) is an alternative food source and has starch content as a source of carbohydrates. However, it has a fairly high content of cyanide and dioscorin. The research aimed to find out the potential of tuber nutrients (Dioscorea hispida Dennst) soaked in langir skin extract (Albizia saponaria Lour). The research was conducted in the Laboratory of Nutrition Science and Feed Technology Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Halu Oleo University, using a complete randomized design 4 treatments with 4 repeats. The results showed that the tubers (Dioscorea hispida Dennst) have good nutrient potential at the level of giving skin extract langir 15%, increased to 15.02%, lowered fat levels to 0.30% with crude fiber content, water content, dry matter, organic matter and ash content produced still in the optimal compositionKeywords: nutrients, gadung tubers, excretion langir

Abstract

Program Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat Internal Pascasarjana Universitas Halu Oleo (UHO) dilaksanakan oleh tim dosen Pascasarjana UHO di Kelurahan Watubangga, Kecamatan Baruga, Kota Kendari. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan peternak ayam kampung dalam teknik pembibitan ayam kampung unggul melalui metode seleksi dan kawin silang. Melalui program ini, diharapkan peternak dapat menghasilkan bibit ayam kampung yang memiliki kualitas unggul, baik dari segi pertumbuhan, daya tahan tubuh, maupun produktivitas. Kegiatan ini mencakup beberapa aspek utama dalam pembibitan ayam kampung unggul. Pertama, peternak diberikan pelatihan tentang cara menyeleksi indukan, pejantan, dan anak ayam yang memiliki karakteristik unggul. Seleksi ini meliputi aspek fisik, kesehatan, dan potensi genetik yang mendukung produktivitas ternak. Kedua, diperkenalkan teknik kawin silang yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kualitas keturunan dengan mengkombinasikan sifat unggul dari berbagai jenis ayam kampung. Teknik ini memungkinkan peternak untuk memperoleh bibit yang lebih adaptif terhadap lingkungan serta memiliki pertumbuhan yang optimal. Selain itu, program ini juga mengenalkan teknik inseminasi buatan (IB) pada ternak ayam kampung. Peternak diberikan pelatihan mengenai teknik menampung semen ayam secara higienis serta teknik deposisi semen ke dalam saluran reproduksi ayam betina. Penerapan inseminasi buatan bertujuan untuk meningkatkan efisiensi reproduksi, mempercepat peningkatan kualitas genetik, serta mengurangi risiko penyebaran penyakit yang dapat terjadi melalui kawin alami. Melalui program ini, diharapkan peternak ayam kampung di Kelurahan Watubangga dapat menerapkan teknik pembibitan unggul secara mandiri, sehingga dapat meningkatkan produktivitas dan kesejahteraan peternak

Abstract

Kegiatan pemantapan keterampilan kelompok mahasiswa akhir ini bertujuan memberikan pemahaman yang komprehensif bagi kelompok mahasiswa yang berada di Universitas Halu Oleo, Kendari tentang tatalaksana pangan sehat dan produk-produk hasil ternak. Kegiatan Bimbingan ipteks ini diharapkan memberikan pengetahuan dan keterampilan terkait daging segar dan pengolahannya untuk mendapatkan diversifikasi pangan, peningkatan nilai gizi, daya simpan yang lebih lama dan nilai tambah secara ekonomi. Metode yang digunakan pada kegiatan Bimbingan ipteks ini berupa penyuluhan dan demonstrasi langsung bersama para sasaran kegiatan terkait pengetahuan daging segar, berpengawet dan busuk serta bimbingan teknis keterampilan pengolahan naget. Materi penyuluhan terkait pentingnya mengkonsumsi daging segar, pentingnya memilih daging yang tidak terkontaminasi dengan bahan pengawet, bimbingan terkait produk-produk olahan hasil ternak berupa pengolahan naget dengan penambahan labu kuning yang bermanfaat bagi kesehatan manusia dan bisa menjadi sumber pendapatan keluarga. Bimbingan teknis yang telah dilaksanakan pada kegiatan Bimbingan ipteks ini memberikan dampat positif terhadap kelompok ternak terutama semangat untuk berkreasi dengan bahan dasar daging serta motivasi peserta untuk menjadikan lapangan usaha.

Abstract

Increasing the population of chickens nationally and regionally will increase the waste generated. If the waste is not managed properly, it has the potential to cause environmental pollution, especially from manure that is produced by livestock every day. Livestock rearing produces a lot of waste/manure which is abundant and has not been used properly by the community. Chicken is one of the animals or livestock whose livestock manure contains nutrients and organic matter which is quite high and has the potential to produce organic fertilizer which is needed for the maintenance of soil fertility. Organic fertilizers produced from the fermentation of organic materials such as compost and manure using the help of effective microorganism technology (EM4) are known as bokashi. The purpose of this activity is to provide guidance and counseling in managing and utilizing chicken manure waste as organic bokashi fertilizer as well as providing economic benefits and benefits to farmers/breeders. The activity approach method is carried out by (1) lectures and discussions about the prospects and benefits obtained from chicken manure processing technology, (2) demonstrations in providing in-depth understanding and introduction of ingredients used in the manufacture of organic bokashi fertilizer, (3) the practice of making organic bokashi fertilizer using EM4 technology. The counseling material presented received a positive response and the participants were quite enthusiastic, considering that so far, the manufacture of fertilizers has been carried out without a touch of technology. It was concluded that the practice of making organic bokashi fertilizer in addition to increasing livestock production can also increase the income of farmers from the sale of organic bokashi fertilizer.

Abstract

Kelurahan Alolama merupakan salah satu kelurahan yang berada di Kecamatan Mandonga Kota Kendari.Kelurahan ini menjadi salah satu kelurahan yang memiliki potensi untuk pengembangan peternakan di bidang unggas terutama ayam kampung sebagai sumber pendapatan yang ekonomis bagi masyarakat sekitar.Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk memberi pemahaman kepada kelompok ternak mengenai prospek pengembangan ayam kampung di perkotaan sebagai sumber pendapatan keluarga di Kelurahan Alolama Kecamatan Mandonga Kota Kendari. Kegiatan ini dilakukan pada bulan Oktober 2024 di Kelurahan Alolama, Kecamatan Mandonga. Kegiatan dalam bentuk penyuluhan kepada keluarga peternak di Kelurahan Alolama Kecamatan Mandonga Kota Kendari. Hasil yang diperoleh bahwa adanya penambahan pengetahuan peternak di Kelurahan Alolama Kecamatan Mandonga terkait prospek ayam kampung sebagai usaha yang ekonomis bagi masyarakat perkotaan

Abstract

The aim of this study is to know the chemical composition and physical qualities breast meat broiler which is marinated in 20% galangal juice. The method used completely randomized design with stroge period, Treatments O hour (To), 3 hours (T1), 6 hours (T2), and 8 hours (T3) and four replications. Each treatment used breast meat broiler (BMB) 100 grams. Variables included chemical composition (moisture and crude protein %) and physical quality (cooking loss). The data analysis used analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and Tukey’s test The results that stroge period 9 hours (T3) has significant effect of cooking loss percentage but does not have significant effect of moisture content and crude protein content. The conclusion that storage period longer can increase cooking loss percentage and cannot change Chemical composition breast meat broiler marinated with galangal juice.
