Abstract

Linguistic structure greatly influences the understanding of the meaning of an utterance. However, in contrast to general discourse, the linguistic structure of the Qur'anic language style has a rich and deep meaning. One of the language styles that has an unusual construct is ahwal mutaʽalliqāt al-fiʽli. Relevance theory is present to reveal the meaning of ahwal mutaʽalliqāt al-fiʽli contained in the verses of the Qur'an so that it becomes evidence to strengthen the miracle of the Qur'an in terms of its language. This research aims to introduce as well as focus on examining more deeply the meanings of ahwal mutta'alliqat al'fi'li in the verses of the Qur'an. The research method used is descriptive-interpretative with Content Analysis model. The approach used is an inductive approach which is then presented descriptively to explain the meaning of ahwal mutaʽalliqāt al-fiʽli based on the principles of relevance theory formulated by Sperber and Wilson. The findings obtained a total of 16 data of ahwal mutaʽalliqāt al-fiʽli from 11 verses of surah al-Mulk which are divided into the categories of omitting fāʽil, omitting maf'ul, giving precedence to maf'ul, giving precedence to jār majrūr, and giving precedence to żaraf. All data are understood by contextual reasoning based on the theory of relevance which is also in line with the rules of balaghah according to Al-Harbi and Al-Hasyimi.

Abstract

The complex system and characteristics of the hijaiyah letters make it difficult for non-native speakers to pronounce the letters. In addition, the differences in the phonological system of Indonesian and Arabic, including differences in phonemes between the two, have the potential to cause interference. This research aims to analyze and determine interference in the form of errors in pronunciation of Arabic phonemes by native Javanese speakers, word shifts, changes in word meanings, and loss of word meanings. The method used in this research is descriptive-qualitative. The research data comes from the reading results of two samples collected using listening and recording techniques, and the data is analyzed using the Praat application. The results of this research indicate that both samples made errors in the form of replacing one phoneme with another phoneme; the error in the pronunciation of the phoneme /ħ/ which causes the change in the pronunciation of the word حَسَدَ [ħasad] to هَسَدَ [hasad], the phoneme /ʕ/ which causes the change in the pronunciation of the word اَعُوْذُ [aʕu:ðu] to اَءُوْذُ [aʔu: ðu] and the phoneme /q/ which causes change in the pronunciation of the word فَلَقِ [falaq] to فَلَكِ [falak], meanwhile the two samples made no mistakes in pronouncing the phoneme /ʃ/ so there was no change in word or meaning in the word شَرِّ [ʃar.ri]. It is hoped that this research can become a source of Arabic language knowledge for Arabic language learners and the general public so that they know how important it is to pronounce Arabic phonemes well and correctly because it influences the meaning of the words being pronounced.

Abstract

This study aims to compare the performance of ChatGPT and Gemini in analyzing i'rāb Marfû’ât al-Asmâ’', a critical aspect of Arabic grammar for determining the grammatical roles of words in sentences. The analysis uses 11 examples from the book Mulakhash Qawâ'id al-Lugah al-'Arabiyyah by Fuad Ni'mah, focusing on identifying grammatical components such as mubtada', khabar, isim ashbah, isim kāda, khabar inna, fā'il, nā'ib al-fā'il, na'at, 'atf, tawkid, and badal. The study employs the Mann-Whitney test to assess statistical significance and the Cosine Similarity Index (CSI) to measure semantic similarity. Results show that ChatGPT outperforms Gemini with a significant value of 0.019, while the CSI score of 0.800 indicates high similarity between the models' outputs. ChatGPT excels in providing detailed and accurate analyses, while Gemini is more suitable for concise answers but may lack precision. These findings highlight the unique strengths of each model and underscore the necessity of manual correction to ensure the accuracy and relevance of results, particularly in technology-based Arabic grammar learning.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the Arabic language textbook for Grade 1 of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah, published by the Directorate of KSKK, Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, and to identify the characteristics of Arabic language task design from the perspective of didactic anthropology theory, specifically praxeology. The research method employed in this study is descriptive qualitative, utilizing a literature research design. Data collection techniques include both primary and secondary sources. Primary sources consist of the Arabic language textbook for Grade 1 published by the Directorate of KSKK, while secondary sources encompass relevant books and journals. Data analysis employs qualitative methods, which include data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that the first part of the task design (T1) could not be analyzed using praxeology, as it did not incorporate specific techniques. Furthermore, the types of tasks (T2-T6) have not effectively constructed the theory of students' ability to communicate in Arabic, as the overall task presentations rely heavily on teacher direction. Additionally, obstacles to student learning were identified, including ontogenic and didactic challenges.

Abstract

Prosody provides essential information regarding intonation, emotion, and the physiological characteristics of speakers. In communication, dialects often influence the intonation patterns used in interrogative utterances. This study aims to analyze the prosody of Arabic spoken by native and non-native speakers, using an acoustic-phonetic approach in a case study involving gender and ethnic variations between Sundanese and Javanese speakers, which have been underexplored in previous research. The prosodic features in this study are limited to pitch frequency, duration, and speech intensity. The data consists of two yes/no interrogative sentences analyzed using Praat software version 6.4.13. The results reveal differences in speech duration between native and non-native speakers, with native speakers exhibiting shorter durations. Regarding pitch contours, Javanese male speakers produce relatively flat frequencies at the end of sentences. Additionally, Sundanese female speakers demonstrate the lowest intensity among the participants. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of Arabic prosody in native and non-native speakers, serves as a reference for developing contextual teaching methods for non-native learners in Indonesia, and enriches the literature on acoustic phonetics in the context of ethnic differences in language speakers.
