Abstract

One thing that needs to be considered in the thinking process is the ability to make decisions. Decision-making includes probabilistic thinking. Decision-making is usually done after going through a series of processes. This study discusses how mathematics student decision-making is based on self-efficacy in probabilistic thinking. This research is descriptive qualitative research. The validity of research data with triangulation techniques. The results show that decision-making in probabilistic thinking requires a series of processes, namely understanding the problem, having initial intuition, choosing the right strategy, doing numeracy, then evaluating, and then making a decision. For subjects who have high self-efficacy, the subject makes decisions that fulfill all the elements in decision making. Subjects with self-efficacy are in the decision-making process, the use of numerical concepts is still not right, but the other elements have been met. For subjects with low self-efficacy abilities, they are still less precise in initial intuition, numeration, and final evaluation so the decision making is still not right.

Abstract

Mathematical literacy is defined as the ability to formulate, use and interpret mathematics in a variety of contexts, including systematic reasoning, using mathematical concepts, procedures, facts, and tools to describe, explain, and predict phenomena to help individuals. One of the things that underlie the low ranking of Indonesian students is weak mathematical literacy is the lack of use of non-routine problems that are made based on real-life contexts, so they can only work on routine questions. This study was conducted to explore mathematical literacy indicators that appear in solving real problems through math trail activities. The research subjects were taken from the ranking of students in the previous class, so that 1 male student, namely S1, and 1 female student, namely S2, were selected, who ranked highest in the class for each gender. S1 shows indicators of mathematical literacy in the form of communication, mathematization, reasoning, and argumentation, designing a strategy, using symbolic, formal, technical language and operation, and using mathematical tools. While S2 is in communication, mathematization, reasoning and argumentation, designing a strategy, representation, formal, technical language and operation, and using mathematical tools.

Abstract

Geometry skills are fundamental in studying mathematics in three dimensions. In schools, it is expected to make schemes of methods and solutions so that students in junior high school can more easily understand geometry lessons by providing tangible examples in students' environments. One of the solution keys to mathematics lessons, especially in geometry, is to combine it with ethnomathematics. In this study, a meta-analysis is reviewed to present an empirical synthesis of studies designed to deliver a systematic design of ethnomathematics related to the meta-analysis's geometric learning education submission, empirical studies are used on the analysis of journal articles from 2015-2021. This research is focused on empirical studies using mixs-methods this meta-analysis conduct to gain knowledge of ethnomathematics on the general effect of students' geometric skills. This method aims to examine and combine all pertinent studies, both published and unpublished, so that a weighted mean effect size would be derived. This meta-analysis aims to review the quantitative results of empirical studies of the effect of ethnomathematics in conveying students' geometric abilities The results of this study are statistically significant with small mean scores on effect sizes and heterogeneity test results between studies. Linear models are used to describe the independent variables that affect all effect sizes. The meta-analysis results were obtained. The effect of ethnomathematics has a positive impact on learning geometry in secondary schools. Ethnomathematics can be used as a solution to learning geometry to improve students' geometry skills.

Abstract

The goal of this study is to help students improve their mathematical communication abilities, which are shown in indicators based on cognitive style. up to 30 students may participate in learning mathematics logic in class X SMAIQu Al-Bahjah Center. The methodology is qualitative. Through the use of surveys, exams, interviews, and documentation, data were gathered. Techniques for data analysis include data gathering, data reduction, data display, and data verification. Based on the questionnaire's answers, the subjects were divided into three categories or levels of cognitive style: low, medium, and high. Each survey had two participants. According to the study's findings, students' mathematical communication abilities include indicators for formulating mathematical concepts and strategies, expressing themselves verbally and in writing, visualizing mathematical concepts, understanding, interpreting, and evaluating mathematical material ideas verbally and in writing, as well. Use terminology, mathematical notation, and structures to show ideas and explain connections between mathematical concepts in various visual formats.

Abstract

Critical thinking ability is a tool that can be used to face challenges and survive. In addition to critical thinking skills, there are also affective aspects that need to be developed in learning activities, namely self-learning aspects. Independent learning will have a significant impact on student learning outcomes. This study aims to describe the process of mathematical critical thinking and identify the level of students' mathematical critical thinking given to learning mathematics. This study used qualitative research methods. The research subjects were 10 students who were taken from 33 high school class X students who were selected based on their initial mathematical ability. Research instruments include researchers, critical thinking tests, and interview guidelines. The data collection technique used consisted of critical thinking tests and teacher and student interviews. The data analysis technique used in this study is data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that students who are independent in learning have the ability to think critically because these students can fulfill all stages of critical thinking when solving a given problem.

Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to describe students' creative thinking process based on self-confidence. The research subjects were Mathematics Education students who took the Introduction to Complex Number. The topic of the material used is the complex number. This type of research is qualitative. Data collection techniques included creative thinking skills tests, self-confidence questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. A creative thinking skills test is made based on indicators of fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration. Based on the self-confidence questionnaire data, students were grouped into low, moderate, and high. From each category, two people were taken as informants. Data analysis uses the Miles and Huberman type: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. The mathematical creative thinking process consists of preparation, incubation, illumination, and verification stages. The results showed that students could fulfill cognitive activities during the preparation and verification stages. Each category has a different way and answers at the incubation and illumination stages. The thing that affects is the previous knowledge.
