Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan persepsi dan pengetahuan siswa SMA dalam menghubungkan konsep fisika dengan gempa bumi yang terjadi di Pasigala. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian survei dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Dalam penelitian ini dipilih subjek penelitian sebanyak 91 siswa SMA kelas XII jurusan IPA yang ada di SMA Negeri 2 Palu, SMA Negeri 1 Sigi, dan SMA Negeri 1 Sindue. Dimana secara berurut responden dari SMA Negeri 2 Palu sebanyak 32 siswa, SMA Negeri 1 Sigi sebanyak 26 siswa, dan SMA Negeri 1 Sindue sebanyak 33 siswa. Data penelitian ini diperoleh dengan cara memberikan kuesioner persepsi sebanyak 15 peryataan dan soal tes pengetahuan sebanyak 15 pertanyaan yang diisi oleh seluruh responden. Dari hasil analisis kuesioner pada ketiga sekolah diketahui bahwa persepsi siswa dalam menghubungkan konsep fisika dengan gempa bumi yang terjadi di pasigala dalam kategori sangat baik. Sedangkan pengetahuan siswa dalam menghubungkan konsep fisika gempa bumi yang terjadi di pasigala dalam kategori kurang.

Abstract

Konsep dinamika fluida merupakan salah satu materi dalam fisika yang dianggap abstrak dan sulit dipahami oleh peserta didik karena bersifat teoritis dan membutuhkan pemahaman visualisasi aliran fluida. Oleh karena itu, dibutuhkan media pembelajaran yang dapat membantu peserta didik memahami konsep tersebut secara lebih konkret dan menarik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan alat peraga anemometer sebagai media pembelajaran pada konsep dinamika fluida bagi siswa SMA. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah Research and Development (R&D) dengan model pengembangan ADDIE yang mencakup lima tahap, yaitu analisis, desain, pengembangan, implementasi, dan evaluasi. Instrumen penelitian berupa angket yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data dari validator dan pengguna. Hasil validasi dari ahli media dan guru fisika menunjukkan bahwa media termasuk dalam kategori “Sangat Baik”. Respon peserta didik terhadap media menunjukkan kategori “Sangat Setuju”. Selain itu, hasil uji keberhasilan alat melalui perbandingan antara nilai terukur dan nilai referensi menghasilkan persentase keberhasilan sebesar 91,22%. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa media pembelajaran anemometer yang dikembangkan efektif dalam mendukung pemahaman konsep dinamika fluida dan layak digunakan dalam kegiatan pembelajaran fisika di sekolah.

Abstract

Konsep elektrostatika menjadi salah satu materi konsep yang sulit dipahami oleh mahasiswa calon guru fisika karena materinya yang bersifat abstrak dan melibatkan representasi matematika yang kompleks sehingga sulit untuk ditangkap dan dipahami oleh mahasiswa calon guru fisika. Kesulitan ini berdampak pada rendahnya kemampuan pemahaman konsep mahasiswa yang seharusnya memiliki pemahaman mendalam sebagai calon pendidik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pemahaman mahasiswa calon guru fisika tentang konsep elektrostatika berdasarkan Four Tier Multiple Choice (4TMC) Test. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian kuasi kualitatif. Subjek penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa calon guru fisika angkatan 2023 kelas A yang berjumlah 28 orang, dengan 10 orang diantaranya terpilih sebagai responden wawancara. Instrumen yang digunakan merupakan instrumen tes diagnostik Four Tier Multiple Choice (4TMC) Test sebanyak 20 nomor dan pedoman wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar pemahaman mahasiswa calon guru fisika tentang konsep elektrostatika berada pada kategori sedang, diikuti kategori tinggi, dan hanya sedikit yang berada pada kategori sedang. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa secara keseluruhan, pemahaman mahasiswa calon guru fisika tentang konsep elektrostatika tergolong dalam kategori sedang.

Abstract

The research aims to analyze the improvement of science process skills and understanding concepts among students who took Children's Learning in Science (CLIS) and conventional learning model. The research used quasi-experimental: pretest-posttest control group design. The subjects of research were 30 students from Grade VIIIA and 30 students from Grade VIIIB of SMP Negeri 5 Marawola in academic year 2013/2014. The two groups were determined through cluster random sampling. Data were collected by using science process skills test, conceptual understanding test and questionnaire of students' responses on CLIS learning model. Data were analyzed by using SPSS 16.0 for Windows. The average N-gain of science process skill gain for both experimental and control group were in moderate category. The average N-gain of conceptual understanding for the experimental group were in moderate category and the control group were in low category. Based on the significance analysis, it could be obtained that for α = 0,05: 1) there is a difference of students’ science process skills between the experimental group and the control group (tcount.>ttable); 2) there is no difference students’ conceptual understanding of the experimental group and the control group (tcount.<ttable); and 3) there is a correlation between students’ science process skills and conceptual understanding (rcount.>rtable). Results of analysis of questionnaires showed that almost entirely students expressed that they were happy and motivated to get an active role in CLIS learning. Thus CLIS learning could improve science process skills and conceptual understanding of vibrations and waves. The learning model could provide a positive stimulus to students to learn physics.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh variasi temperatur terhadap sifat optik, khususnya nilai absorbansi, pada lapisan tipis berbahan kulit singkong serta menilai kelayakannya sebagai alternatif praktikum fisika zat padat. Penelitian dilakukan secara eksperimen dengan metode sintesis ekstrak kulit singkong yang dipanaskan pada variasi temperatur 40°C hingga 100°C. Uji absorbansi dilakukan menggunakan spektrofotometer UV-Vis pada rentang panjang gelombang 440–600 nm. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa variasi temperatur berpengaruh terhadap nilai absorbansi lapisan tipis. Peningkatan temperatur optimum diperoleh pada 70°C, di mana terjadi perubahan struktur material yang berdampak pada peningkatan daya serap cahaya. Hal ini mengindikasikan bahwa perlakuan panas dapat memodifikasi sifat optik material sehingga berpotensi dimanfaatkan dalam konteks pembelajaran fisika modern. Selain itu, validasi terhadap Lembar Kerja Mahasiswa (LKM) dan penuntun praktikum menunjukkan kategori “Sangat Baik”, serta respon mahasiswa memperoleh rata-rata sebesar 3,37 dengan kategori “Sangat Setuju”. Dengan demikian, penelitian ini tidak hanya memperlihatkan potensi kulit singkong sebagai bahan lapisan tipis yang ramah lingkungan, tetapi juga memberikan kontribusi nyata dalam pengembangan media praktikum fisika yang aplikatif, kontekstual, dan relevan dengan kehidupan sehari-hari di lingkungan pendidikan.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a differentiated teaching module based on students' learning styles in the Project-Based Learning of Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) to improve collaboration skills. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model, which includes five phases: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The subjects of the study were Grade X students at SMK Negeri 1 Parigi, with 19 students from the Akuntansi dan Keuangan Lembaga (AKL) program as the experimental class and 19 students from the Desain Pemodelan dan Informasi Bangunan (DPIB) program as the control class. Research instruments included expert validation sheets, practicality questionnaires, cognitive assessment tests (pretest and posttest), and observation sheets for collaboration skills. Validation results showed that the module achieved a validity level of 83%, categorized as valid. The module’s practicality was rated at 92% by teachers and 95% by students, both classified as highly practical. Regarding effectiveness, a comparison of posttest scores between the experimental and control groups yielded a Cohen’s d of 0.93, indicating a large effect on students’ cognitive outcomes. Additionally, within the experimental group, a comparison of pretest and posttest collaboration scores resulted in a Cohen’s d of 0.89, also classified as a large effect. These findings demonstrate that the differentiated teaching module effectively enhances students’ 21st-century skills, particularly collaboration.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Indonesian Student Exchange Program (PMM) in enhancing the self-confidence of Physics Education students at Tadulako University and to identify the challenges faced during their participation in the program. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method with participants consisting of Physics Education students who have taken part in PMM. Data were collected through questionnaires and in-depth interviews. The questionnaire, consisting of 18 items, showed that the majority of respondents gave positive assessments regarding their self-confidence improvement after participating in PMM, with an overall average score of 89.73%, indicating a very effective category. The interview analysis supports these findings, informants reported an increase in public speaking confidence, adaptability in new environments, and expansion of social networks. Challenges encountered included cross-cultural communication barriers and differences in learning systems, which were managed through effective adaptation strategies. Overall, PMM provided new insights and fostered students’ academic and social self development.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This research aims to advance science education by integrating Gregorc’s Thinking Style Model into differentiated instruction, thereby accommodating students’ diverse cognitive needs and improving their academic performance and learning outcomes in science education. Methodology: This study employed a quasi-experimental design conducted at MTs Al-Khairaat Bora, involving 70 students (36 male and 34 female). Thinking styles were identified using the Gregorc Thinking Style Inventory. Differentiated learning modules were developed and implemented, supported by pre-test and post-test assessments, classroom observations, and feedback surveys analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. Main Findings: This study investigated the distribution of cognitive styles among 70 students, finding that Abstract Random (30.22%) and Concrete Random (28.30%) were the most predominant, followed by Abstract Sequential (16.48%) and Concrete Sequential (11.54%). Instruction tailored to these cognitive styles resulted in an increase in post-test scores for the experimental group (from 65 to 85), surpassing the control group (from 64 to 70). Novelty/Originality of this study: This study integrates Gregorc’s Thinking Style Model with differentiated instruction, offering a novel approach to adapting science education. By identifying students' thinking styles, it enhances engagement and understanding, aligning teaching methods with cognitive preferences. The study contributes to improving educational practices by fostering better learning outcomes for diverse student groups.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to develop Discovery Learning-based Learner Worksheets (LKPD) using the ADDIE model with the objective of enhancing the science process skills and environmental literacy of secondary school students. This research employs a one-group pretest-posttest design within the context of a research and development (R&D) project conducted in class VII of SMP Negeri 2 Bungku, comprising 29 students, of whom 13 are male and 16 are female. The research instruments included validation sheets, Discovery Learning-based learner worksheets, observation sheets for science process skills, environmental literacy tests, and questionnaires for teachers and students regarding their responses to the product. The results demonstrated the validity of this development, with a score of 88%, a figure that was additionally supported by the teacher response score, which fell within the "very practical" category. The product of this development has a positive effect on students' science process skills, with an N-gain of 0.60 in the moderate category, indicating a significant improvement. The effect size of 0.47 in the moderate category indicates that this improvement is very significant. Furthermore, the development results had a significant impact on students' environmental literacy, with an N-gain of 0.35 in the medium category. The effect size of environmental literacy was 0.47 in the medium category.

Abstract

Performance assessment is an important part of learning that applies the team-based project method. This study aims to describe student performance in designing physics teaching aids and experiments in terms of active participation, understanding of the material, presentation skills and products. This study uses a descriptive method. Data were obtained through observation sheets and rubrics and assessment sheets. Data analysis for active participation, understanding of the material, and presentation skills was carried out by determining the number of students who obtained scores according to each category (very good, good, quite good, and less good) then expressed as a percentage. Data analysis for product assessment was carried out by determining the average score of each product and converting it to a score of 100. There were 29 students who were the sample of the study. The results of the study showed that students who participated actively were predominantly in the sufficient and less active categories. The percentage of students who understood the material was predominantly in the understand and understand enough categories. Students' presentation skills were predominantly in the good category. All the results of the teaching aid designs were in the very good category. There were three experimental design results in the very good category and three others in the good category. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that students are able to design physics demonstration tools and experiments in terms of active participation, understanding of the material, presentation and product skills, through team-based project learning.
