Abstract

Particle filter been used for localization and position estimation with various applications. Several method applied in order to reduce the complexity of particle information to lower processing resource requirement while providing a precise map. Sonar sensor provide a range precision with poor bearing. Partial observation applied to gain estimation of object location using several measurement from multiple vantage point. This paper propose grouping of detection particle from sonar sensor using clustering method in order to provide estimated object position from a single vantage point. The approach estimate objects using euclidean distance treshold to separate one object detections from the other and group all the detection particle into cluster containing a set of number. As a result of particle clustering, object location can be estimated with their respective weight of certainty as an attribution for further decision making.

Abstract

Vibration based condition monitoring is a method used for determining the condition of a system. The condition of mechanical or a structural system can be determined from the vibration. The vibration that is produced by the system indicates the condition of a system and possibly used to calculate the lifetime of a system or even used to take early action before fatal failure occurred. This paper explains how the wireless smart sensor can be used to identify the health condition of a system by monitoring the vibration parameters. The wireless smart sensor would continuously  senses the vibration parameters of the system in a real-time systems and then data will be transmitted wirelessly  to a base station which is a host PC used for digital signal processing, from there the vibration will be plotted as a graph which used to analyzed the condition of the system. Finally, several tested performed to the real system to verify the accuracy of a smart sensor and the method of condition based monitoring.

Abstract

The climate change tends to be extreme condition that directly affects on decreasing agriculture production.  Therefore, application of automated system in agriculture activities is the potential issue which must be considered. This paper presents ON-OFF and ANN controllers which are applied to the automated irrigation system. Controlling irrigation system used a calculated Penman-Monteith evapotranspiration and a reference of soil moisture as the compared input. Input parameters of the evapotranspiration included temperature, heat radiation, atmosphere pressure and wind speed. The use of feed forward ANN included 1 input layer with 15 neurons and 2 hidden layers with 10 and 5 neurons and 1 output layer and 1 input layer, 2 hidden layers with 96 and 1 neurons and 1 output layer, errors are 14.3% and 3.9%, respectively. Error of the ON-OFF controller with sampling time of 0.05 second is equal to the error of ANN controller. The performance of such controllers were evaluated and compared based on error of both controllers.  The simulation result of ON-OFF controller was used as the reference of controller development based on ATmega 8 microcontroller. The simulation results show that the error of the ON-OFF controller can be easily adjusted by setting the sampling time of the dead zone discretization.
