Abstract

The role of the river as a site for riverine activities has a huge impact on the economic sustainability of the community and the riverine ecosystem. The Silugonggo River is the only river in Pati Regency that is a very densely populated shipping route. This research was conducted along the Silugonggo River from the Juwana Bridge to the estuary. The purpose of this study was to determine ship activity in the Silugonggo River, determine the feasibility of facilities at Juwana Port and analyze environmental conditions along the Silugonggo River. The method used is a qualitative method with observation techniques and laboratory analysis, which is carried out by observing and recording conditions in the field systematically using primary data in the form of water conditions and secondary data in the form of ship activity and construction data. The results showed that the activities in the port of Juwana include mooring, loading and unloading of goods, ship repair and refuelling of ships. The level of water pollution in the Silugonggo River at 5 sampling points shows that the oil content in the water for points 1, 3, 4 and 5 is still considered safe because it is below the quality standard, but the oil content at point 2 has a very high value from the set quality standard which is 20 mg/L. The pollution that occurs is caused by shipping activities that dump waste into the water and fuel filling activities. Keywords:marine polutionportriverwater qualityoil spill

Abstract

Rawa Pening is a natural lake located in Semarang Regency that is facing issues with declining fish stock. Fish restocking activities in Rawa Pening are one of the solutions to maintain fish stock, fishermen's livelihoods, and food security. Fish restocking activities in Rawa Pening were carried out in July 2025 by the Undip community service team, involving the release of nilem and tawes fish, which are classified as local (non-invasive) species. An evaluation of local residents' perceptions of the fish restocking activities was conducted through interviews with 30 local residents who work as fishermen and fish processors. The evaluation results indicate that the fish restocking activity in Rawa Pening has received a positive response from the community service activity partners, with 100% of respondents agreeing with the restocking activity, primarily citing increased fishermen's income and maintaining fish populations in Rawa Pening as the main reasons. However, local residents' understanding and knowledge regarding the technical aspects of the restocking activity still need to be improved.

Abstract

PPP Klidang Lor Batang is one of the fishing ports still dominated by cantrang fishing gear. The purpose of this study was to analyze the margins of trading and marketing strategies by the waiters who use cantrang. This study used a descriptive method with data collection by observing directly in the field at PPP Klidang Lor. The population used in taking respondents in this study were fishermen who used cantrang fishing gear. Data analysis was carried out using qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis. The catch and variety is one of the factors for the high and low income of fishermen. The catch that is traded to TPI, middlemen, retailers, or even consumers without a good trading strategy will not maximize the income earned by fishermen. By analyzing the trading system margins of fishermen, TPI, middlemen, retailers, and consumers, alternative strategies for fishermen will be known in order to increase marketing of the catch they get. The purpose of this study is to determine the margin of trade and the composition of catches, marketing channels. Analysis of the data used to determine the value of the margin of trade using BEP, HPP, R/C, Fisherman's share. Meanwhile, the marketing strategy uses SWOT analysis to determine the internal and external factors of marketing the fisherman's catch using cantrang fishing gear.

Abstract

Global warming and the increasing demand for electricity have strengthened the urgency to introduce environmentally friendly technologies at the community level. Kebondowo Village, located in Banyubiru Sub-district, remains limited in nighttime lighting access and relies heavily on conventional electricity, indicating the need for an efficient and sustainable renewable-energy alternative. In response to this condition, Universitas Diponegoro initiated the Iptek Desa Binaan Undip (IDBU) program through the installation of solar-powered street lights across seven hamlets from July to August 2025 as an early effort to support the development of an environmentally friendly village. The objectives of this program were to improve the quality of village lighting, reduce dependence on conventional energy, increase community awareness of renewable energy use, and evaluate the level of public acceptance of the installed technology. The evaluation was conducted using surveys and semi-structured interviews with 40 adult residents, representing diverse professions and age ranges from 28 to 69 years old (mean age 48), to assess user perceptions, perceived benefits, and expectations for program sustainability. The results showed a highly positive response, with 97% of respondents agreeing with the installation of solar lighting and reporting direct benefits, including improved comfort, safety, and energy efficiency during nighttime activities. Furthermore, most residents expressed their expectation for the expansion of solar-powered street lights across all hamlets. These findings confirm that renewable-energy technology has a high level of social acceptance, effectively improves the community’s quality of life, and holds strong potential to be developed as a sustainable program based on rural community empowerment.

Abstract

Bigeye tuna is one of Indonesia's leading fishery commodities. One of the main locations for the routine landing and handling of this species is the Cilacap Fishing Port. The selling price of bigeye tuna plays a crucial role in the sustainability of fisheries businesses. However, unstable and unpredictable tuna prices make it difficult for some businesses to assess their long-term sustainability. Various factors influence tuna prices, both internal to fishing operations and external economic conditions. This study aims to identify factors that influence the selling price of bigeye tuna at the Cilacap Fishing Port. This study used direct observation, interviews, and a literature review, with data ranging from 2022 to 2024. The analytical approach used was multiple linear regression analysis. The research findings indicate that the selling price of frozen bigeye tuna is influenced by production volume, production value, fishing month, and operational costs. The F-test results indicate that the dollar exchange rate, export volume and value, production volume, production value, fishing month, and operational costs simultaneously influence the selling price of bigeye tuna. These variables influence 80.6% of the selling price of bigeye tuna, while 19.4% is influenced by other factors outside the research.

Abstract

Background: This study explores the socio–ecological resilience of communities in the Babon Watershed, Demak Regency, in responding to the cumulative impacts of sand mining and climate change. Methods: Using a qualitative case study approach grounded in a constructivist paradigm, data were collected through interviews, focus group discussions, field observations, and document analysis. Findings: The results show that intensive sand mining and rising sea levels have led to environmental degradation, declining agricultural productivity, and socio-economic vulnerability. Despite these challenges, local communities have developed adaptive strategies, including livelihood diversification, collective cooperation, and the strengthening of local institutions. However, resilience remains largely adaptive and short-term rather than transformative. Weak governance, fragmented policies, and economic dependency on extractive activities continue to limit sustainable transformation. Conclusion: The study proposes a three-pillar collaborative framework integrated governance, sustainable economy, and ecological restoration to enhance long-term socio–ecological resilience. Novelty/Originality of this article: These findings contribute to the broader understanding of community-based resilience and offer policy insights for sustainable watershed management in coastal regions of Indonesia.
