Abstract

Infectious animal diseases pose a serious threat to the health of animals and humans, as well as significant economic impacts. Law No. 41 of 2014 amending Law No. 19 of 2009 concerning Animal Husbandry and Animal Health regulates the security, assurance, utilization, and preservation of animals to ensure food sovereignty, independence, and security in order to achieve food sovereignty, independence, and security for the welfare and prosperity of the Indonesian people. The aim of this study is to analyze the effectiveness of the implementation of the Animal Husbandry and Animal Health Law and its derivatives in controlling infectious animal diseases in Lampung Province. The analysis results show that the implementation of the Animal Husbandry and Animal Health Law and its regulations has not been effective in protecting animal health, preventing disease, and its supervision processes have not been effective in preventing environmental contamination from the spread of infectious animal diseases in Lampung Province. This is evident from the entry and spread of animal diseases in Lampung Province such as Jembrana Disease, Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD), Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD), and African Swine Fever (ASF) in pigs

Abstract

Environmental protection is becoming increasingly important in the face of the negative impact on human health. This article reviews the role of living environmental laws in regulating environmental pollution to prevent the spread of infectious diseases. Air pollution can cause many infectious diseases that are dangerous to the community. International regulations such as the Stockholm Convention as well as national laws such as Law No. 32 of 2009 in Indonesia, and are linked to the Omnibus Law on Job Creation No. 11 of 2020 thus providing a framework for controlling pollutants and mitigating the risk of disease infection. Case studies show how violations of the environmental laws have caused an outbreak of infectious diseases in a region. Measures such as tighter law enforcement, to maintain a safe and healthy environment, the use of environmentally friendly technologies and raising public awareness are needed. With proper implementation, habitat legislation can be an effective instrument in preventing the spread of infectious diseases through environmental pollution

Abstract

Riverbanks play a crucial role in maintaining water quality, preventing floods, and supporting the daily activities of the community. However, there is often a change in the function of riverbank land for construction or settlements, which can result in negative impacts such as flooding, soil erosion, and material and non-material losses for the surrounding community. Law No. 32 of 2009 on Environmental Protection and Management (PPLH) regulates that riverbank boundaries must be protected and managed properly. Prohibitions on construction that endanger the river ecosystem or damage the river flow are also included in these provisions. The Regulation of the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Number 28/PRT/M/2015 further regulates the riverbank and lake boundaries. The division of authority for water resource management from the central, provincial, to district/city level has also been regulated in Law Number 23 of 2014 concerning Regional Government. To understand the compliance of land use with laws and technical regulations along the river, a study on the existing condition of land use in various regions is needed. This study aims to evaluate the extent to which land use complies with applicable legal rules. Considering the important role of riverbanks and the steps that support compliance with the law need to be strengthened and consistently applied

Abstract

Environmental politics as part of social science has very broad aspects, one of which is the gender aspect. In fact, women can actively work in the public sector because it is important to balance gender roles between men and women. Cooperative decision making between men and women is a reflection of gender equality in forest resource management. This research analyzes the role of gender in decision making for forest resource management based on environmental politics in Pinang Jaya Village, Talang Mulya Village, and Cilimus Village around the Way Betung watershed. The data analysis used is descriptive quantitative. The research results show that gender roles in making decisions on forest resource management such as land preparation, seeding, planting, maintenance, harvesting and security activities are known to be dominated by husbands with an average percentage (77%), while women only dominate. in marketing activities with a percentage of (9%). The high role of men is caused by patriarchal cultural factors which still assume men have full access and good knowledge in managing forests. The correlation between job characteristics and decision making in forest resource management such as land preparation, seeding, planting, maintenance, harvesting, marketing and security is known to have a significant relationship. Meanwhile, there are still variables that are not correlated with the correlation between age, gender and education. Based on environmental political aspects, there is a need for intensive understanding and training regarding gender balance for site leaders because it has been proven that gender is correlated with the sustainability of natural resources.

Abstract

This research aims to provide information regarding the effectiveness of implementing agroforestry policies in several regions in Indonesia. The research method used in this study is descriptive qualitative with a literature study approach. The conclusion of this research is that regional policies in agroforestry-based forest management in Indonesia are very important to achieve sustainable development, improve community welfare, and conserve natural resources. Agroforestry integrates agriculture with forestry, providing multiple benefits, such as increasing land productivity and reducing pressure on natural forests. However, the effectiveness of this policy is influenced by various supporting and inhibiting factors. Therefore, a more holistic and collaborative approach is needed between local governments, communities and related institutions to improve the effective implementation of agroforestry policies. Abstract

The sustainability of forest functions is closely related to the perspective of the communities living around it. This study aims to analyze community perspectives on forest conditions in KTH Talang Ponijan and Sidodadi I. Data was collected using a qualitative approach through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation studies. The collected data were analyzed descriptively and qualitatively. The results of the research show that there are still differences between the community's views and their behavior towards community forest management (HKm). Most people in KTH Talang Ponijan and Sidodadi I utilize HKm land to improve their welfare. However, conditions in the field reveal that illegal practices such as logging, poaching, opening up new land for cultivation, and unsustainable land management threaten the balance of nature and worsen forest conditions. The government is expected to provide environmental education programs and facilitate training or guidance to strengthen the community's capacity to manage and utilize forests wisely.

Abstract

Peatlands are vulnerable to fire, causing ecological damage that threatens biodiversity, one of which is amphibians. The nature of amphibians which are sensitive to environmental changes can be used as a bioindicator of the quality of a disturbed environment, including in buffer villages around conservation areas. This research aims to analyze the diversity of amphibians and their relationship with temperature and air humidity. The method used is Visual Encounter Survey (VES) in two types of habitats, namely oil palm plantations and swamps. Data analysis used the Shannon-Wiener species diversity index, the Pielou species evenness index, and the Pearson correlation test. The research results found 6 species of amphibians, namely Hylarana erythraea, Hylarana nicobariensis, Fejervarya limnocharis, Fejervarya cancrivora, Duttaphrynus melanustictus, and Hylarana baramica. The diversity index (H') in oil palm plantations and swamps is H'=1.46 and H'=1.10 in the medium category. This shows that ecologically, the conditions of the habitat types of oil palm plantations and swamps in the buffer villages around the Orang Kayo Hitam Forest Park after land burning can support amphibian life. Key words: Amphibians, conservation area, diversity, tropical peatland.

Abstract

Abstract

Indonesia has the second largest peatland area in the world, of which 19% is damaged due partly to forest fires and encroachment. The Orang Kayo Hitam (OKH) forest park located in the Indonesian province of Jambi is one among several peat forests in the country that remain largely intake. But as do other forested areas, the park faces severe encroachment threats. Multistakeholder partnership as stipulated by Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 17 offers a reasonable strategy to mitigate the threats. This article studies the driving and restraining factors, both externally and internally, that affect preservation of the park’s peatland as well as the development of effective partnership strategies. Results of the force field analysis show that community’s knowledge and awareness about the link between the park’s ecological and economic functions are the strongest internal driving factors, while lack of them are the strongest restraining ones. Availability of endemic species and frequency of forest fires are the strongest external driving and restraining factors, respectively.
