Abstract

Pemerihan Resort is a part of the Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park (BBSNP). The area of Pemerihan Resort is also part of a lowland tropical rainforest ecosystem with high carbon stocks and biodiversity levels. However, the biodiversity at Pemerihan Resort is threatened by human activities. The aim of this study is to understand species diversity of trees and the carbon stocks in Pemerihan Resort. The plots used include 5 clusters of the National Forest Inventory (NFI) plots within an area of 1 ha for each plot. Data collection was conducted by a census of all trees in the cluster plots and measurements of the diameters and heights of all trees. The measurements of the tree biomass were conducted by non-destructive sampling methods. The trees measured are 20 cm only. Species diversity of the trees was analyzed by Shannon-Whiener index. The carbon stock was analyzed using the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) referring to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). The results showed that Pemerihan Resort is a mixed Dipterocarpaceae ecosystem and a type of normal forest. The dominance of Dipterocarpaceae is 38%. Pemerihan Resort has 611 of individual trees within 99 species and 38 families. The Diversity index (H') of Pemerihan Resort is 2.70. This is a moderately diverse and very stable environment. Tree carbon stock in Pemerihan Resort is 277.64 tons c/ha. The resort is included in the primary dryland category and High-Density forest (HK 3). The results of this study are useful as the basic data in conducting conservation efforts in the BBSNP area. Keywords: Carbon, diversity, tree, species, species, family

Abstract

Perception is an essential factor influencing attitudes and behavior toward the forestry partnership program. Apart from that, a person’s perception can positively or negatively impact the program. The forestry partnerships program is a policy that is the basis of a community empowerment program that provides legal access for local communities to meet the needs of non-timber forest products originating from the Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park (BBSNP) area. The research was conducted to identify the role of partnership members’ perceptions as a mediating variable in achieving goals and obtaining benefits as partnership members in the Semaka Region I National Park Management Sector, BBSNP. Data was collected using a questionnaire, and hypothesis testing was performed using Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Model statistical analysis using SmartPLS 4.0 software. The results showed that perception does not play a mediating variable in achieving goals and obtaining benefits as a member of the partnership. The community benefits from the forestry partnership program if they become members even without having a positive perception of the program. Thus, it is possible that they will not commit properly because the important thing is that they have become members because it will be secure and no longer be considered as an encroachment. This means that it is legal access that makes people want to become members of the partnership. So, to increase positive perceptions and ensure the program’s goal is achieved, namely preserving forests and ensuring the fulfillment of people’s lives, it is necessary to increase the intensity of activities that influence people’s perceptions, for example, socialization, mentoring, and coaching. Abstract

Visitor perceptions and the economic value of tourism greatly influence sustainable tourism development. The aim of the research is to identify visitor perceptions and calculate the economic value of Way Belerang tourism in KPH Way Pisang. Data collection was carried out using interviews, literature studies and documentation. The data that has been collected is then analyzed using a Likert scale, Zonal Travel Cost Method (ZTCM), Individual Travel Cost Method (ITCM) and Multiple Linear Regression. The research results show that the assessment of visitors' perceptions of the facilities is good. Existing facilities are adequate, but repairs need to be made to the ceiling in the rinse area. Promotion and information are not very good because there is not yet complete media available. The tourist attractions are good, the natural attractions and the tourist atmosphere are very supportive. Security and comfort are good, the parking area is large and the guard posts are manned by officers. The average cost to travel to Way Belerang Tourism is IDR 58,876/person/visit, so the economic value of Way Belerang Tourism is IDR 939,725,328/year. Comparison of travel costs based on the visitor's zone of origin within the district Rp. 23,083/zone/visit times, outside the district Rp. 55,195/zone/visit times and outside the province Rp. 114,545/zone/visit times. Supporting promotion and information on Way Belerang requires adequate tools for promoting tourist attractions so that the tourist attractions are more visited by visitors and improving the facilities available at Way Belerang.

Abstract

In forest management at the site level, involving local communities in Forest and Land Rehabilitation (RHL) activities is expected to have a real impact on the success and benefits of RHL activities. Community participation in RHL planning is carried out by giving the community the opportunity to directly choose the type, quantity and pattern of planting, determining the area and location of planting that will be used in RHL activities. This research aims to find out the reasons why farmers participate in the RHL program and whether the RHL planning pattern that accommodates the participation of the cultivating community can be well received and can increase the success of RHL. The determination of respondents was carried out using a random sampling technique with quota control, namely following information determined purposively so that 36 respondents were obtained, key information was selected based on role, knowledge, communicativeness and willingness to fill out interview questions. Data collection was carried out on September 21 2023, in the districts of West Lampung, East Lampung, South Lampung, Tanggamus, Pesawaran, Pesisir Barat, and Way Kanan. Data on farmers' opinions regarding participation in planning RHL activities collected was analyzed descriptively, while data on farmers' motivation to participate in RHL activities and sources of information on RHL activities were analyzed using regression (Regression Analysis). With community participation through selecting the type and determining the location of activities independently, it makes them confident to be involved in the implementation of RHL planning because with their participation the responsibility and success of RHL planting will increase. Furthermore, there is a relationship between farmers' information sources and motivation to participate in RHL activities. The availability of information will influence people's perceptions and motivation for RHL activities.

Abstract

Institutions are the rules of the game that can regulate the activities of Farmers Group members to support Social Forestry activities. The study aimed to analyze the structure, roles, and institutional rules of the Farmers Group of Karya Tani Mandiri and the Farmers Group of Karya Bakti in the Forest Management Unit of Batutegi, Indonesia. Data collection was carried out using interviews, observations, and literature studies. The data that has been collected is then analyzed using a Likert scale. The results showed that Farmers Group of Karya Bakti in terms of structure, roles, and complete game rules compared to Farmers Group Karya Tani Mandiri. This is because the Farmers Group of Karya Tani Mandiri at the time in the field did not have Memorandum of Association/Article of Association, Decree of the Regent, institution’s structure, the role of the structure, but the facts in the field Farmers Group of Karya Bakti violated the rules of the game in the Memorandum of Association/Article of Association, namely cutting down trees for personal gain. In forest areas, the application of the game rules to the institution's performance of the Farmers Group of Karya Tani Mandiri and the Farmers Group of Karya Bakti needs to be improved so that forest management can be sustainable by understanding and obeying the rules of the game that apply.

Abstract

Social media helps tourist destinations build their image and branding. By sharing interesting visual content, traveler experience stories, and positive testimonials, tourist destinations can strengthen their identity in the public eye. The use of social media also allows a tourist destination to interact directly with tourists, by answering questions, providing recommendations, and sharing personal tourist experiences. This study aims to determine the respondents' level of understanding of the creation of social media about forest tourism in increasing the visibility and attractiveness of tourism in Lampung province, focusing on theories that support the role of social media in influencing tourist decisions. Respondents in this study amounted to 28 people who were parties to the Government Office which included the Tourism Office, Hiudp Environmental Service, Forestry Service, SDA Pesawaran, KPH Pesawaran, and Tahura. The implementation of this community service activity was carried out using lecture and FGD (Focus Group Discussion) methods conducted directly by lecturers of the Forestry Department and Social Media Training Resource Persons by Lampung Geh. The results of the pre-test and post-test show that if there is an increase in participants' understanding of social media related to ecotourism. The data analysis conducted shows a significant increase in participants' knowledge, this reflects the material provided by the resource person can be understood by the participants. The percentage of the pre-test value is 66% while for the post-test value is 95%, so there is an increase of 29%.

Abstract

A restoration program is needed by West Lampung District, because 80% of the protected forests in this district have been damaged. Bina Wana (BW) Community Forest Group (CFG) has been successful in carrying out restoration program of 465 ha of Bukit Rigis protected forest. It resulted in an 80% increase in its members' income and an increase by 2.58% of the forest cover. To maintain the success of a sustainable restoration program, high commitment from the community is needed. This research has been conducted in June-July 2019 at West Lampung District, Lampung Province, Indonesia. The objective of this research is to analyse the social variables that affect restoration in the protection forest. The dependent variable is income and independent variables consist of respondents’ characteristics as individuals and social characteristics of the community. Based on the multiple regression linear analysis from 75 respondents, it was found that the significant variables for the sustainability of the restoration of Bukit Rigis protected forest are as follow: age, sex, education, status in CFG, distance from home to CF areas, social aids and social capital. Existence of the youth groups namely Himpunan Pemuda Peduli Hutan dan Lingkungan and Melati Women Forest Farmer Group (WFFG) plays an important role in implementing the restoration program. Establishment of HPPHL will ensure regeneration in maintaining the sustainability of restoration achievements. The role of WFFG is also important because their households’ income is supported by WFFG and enables the BW CFG members to be more concentrated in maintaining forest sustainability.

Abstract

Abstract
