Abstract

Taman Wisata Alam (TWA) Kerandangan dihuni berbagai jenis flora dan fauna salah satunya burung gosong kaki merah (Megapoda). Burung ini sebarannya terbatas dan memiliki sejumlah keunikan, sarangnya berupa gundukan tanah bentuk lingaran, berdiameter mencapai belasan meter dan tinggi mencapai dua meter, telur dipendam di dalam tanah, sarang dibaangun gotong rotong dan digunakan bersama bersama oleh beberapa ekor induk burung. Keunikan ini merupakan potensi yang besar sebagai atraksi wisata dan sumber belalajr. Namun, potensi ini belum dimanfaat secara optimal, masih sangat terbatas karena kurangnya pengetahuan masyarakat dan minimnya pengelolaan berbasis konservasi. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk mensosialisasikan potensi Megapoda sebagai atraksi wisata berbasis edukasi dan konservasi di TWA Kerandangan. Kegiatan pengabdian ini melibatkan lima orang dosen dari program sarjana Pendidikan Biologi FKIP Universitas Mataram. Kegiatan pengabdian ini telah dilakukan dalam bentuk sosialisasi dan pelatihan kepada 25 orang peserta dari kelompok wisata Kerandangan Forest di Desa Kerandangan. Metode kegiatan meliputi sosialisasi, diskusi interaktif, pengamatan lapangan, serta evaluasi pengetahuan peserta sebelum dan sesudah kegiatan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman masyarakat mengenai ekologi Megapoda dan pentingnya pelestarian habitatnya. Selain itu, masyarakat mulai menunjukkan minat dalam mengembangkan wisata edukatif berbasis konservasi. Kegiatan ini diharapkan menjadi langkah awal menuju pengelolaan wisata berkelanjutan yang melibatkan masyarakat lokal.

Abstract

Kemampuan argumentasi ilmiah penting untuk mempersiapkan siswa dalam menghadapi tantangan abad ke-21 yang menuntut keterampilan berpikir kritis dan penalaran logis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh penggunaan model Problem Based Learning (PBL) dalam meningkatkan kemampuan argumentasi ilmiah siswa kelas X SMA. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan desain eksperimen semu (Quasi-Experiment) tipe Non-Equivalent Control Group Design. Populasi penelitian adalah siswa kelas X SMAN 1 Labuhan Haji, dengan sampel 60 siswa yang terbagi menjadi kelas eksperimen (perlakuan PBL) dan kelas kontrol (perlakuan konvensional/ceramah), materi biologi yang di tekankan adalah materi ekosistem. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah tes kemampuan argumentasi ilmiah berbentuk esai yang dianalisis menggunakan pola argumentasi Toulmin (Toulmin's Argumentation Pattern/TAP) yaitu klaim, data, warrant, dan backing sementara untuk rebuttal tidak disertakan. Siswa yang belajar dengan PBL mampu menyusun argumen yang lebih lengkap, sistematis, dan komprehensif, terutama dalam menyajikan alasan pendukung (warrant) dan sanggahan (rebuttal). Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa terjadi peningkatan kemampuan argumentasi yang lebih signifikan pada kelas eksperimen. Rata-rata posttest kelas eksperimen mencapai 84,2, sedangkan kelas kontrol 67,6. Hasil uji N-Gain kelas eksperimen 0,60 (kategori sedang) dan kelas kontrol 0,19 (kategori rendah). Uji hipotesis menggunakan ANACOVA menghasilkan nilai signifikansi (Sig.) 0,000. Dengan demikian, H? ditolak dan H? diterima , yang menyimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan dari penerapan model Problem Based Learning dalam meningkatkan kemampuan argumentasi ilmiah siswa.

Abstract

Program Pengenalan Lapangan Persekolahan (PLP) merupakan kegiatan wajib bagi mahasiswa kependidikan Universitas Mataram. Tujuannya memberikan pengalaman nyata dalam mengenal dunia pendidikan serta mengembangkan empat kompetensi utama calon guru, yaitu pedagogik, profesional, sosial, dan kepribadian. Pengambilan data pengabdian ini dilakukan dengan cara observasi, latihan mengajar (practice teaching) dan kegiatan administratif dengan pihak sekolah, guru pamong, serta peserta didik. Kegiatan ini dilakukan di MA Al-Aziziyah Putri selama 45 hari melibatkan 4 orang mahasiswa, dan satu dosen FKIP Universitas Mataram. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa di MA Al-Aziziyah Putri terdapat 14 ruang kelas (rombongan belajar) yang rata-rata menampung 30 siswi Putri. Tenaga pendidik sebanyak 44 guru mayoritas S1–S2, sebagian guru di MA Al-Aziziyah Putri mengajar di luar bidang keahlian, dan pengajaran mata pelajaran sudah tidak lagi melibatkan mudabbir (santri senior). Kegiatan siswa di luar kelas ditekankan pada hafalan Al-Qur’an harian dengan evaluasi per semester, di mana terdapat pula asrama khusus tahfidz yang mendapat pendampingan lebih intensif. Selama PLP II, setiap mahasiswa mengajar Biologi pada satu kelas yang berbeda, dengan dua kali pertemuan per minggu. Sebelum melakukan kegiatan pengajaran mahasiswa diharuskan menyiapkan modul, media, LKPD, dan perangkat evaluasi. Mahasiswa turut serta mengikuti kegiatan-kegiatan seremonial sekolah. Kegiatan ini memberikan dampak positif terhadap peningkatan profesionalisme, tanggung jawab, serta kemampuan adaptasi mahasiswa terhadap kultur sekolah.

Abstract

Akumulasi logam berat seperti Hg yang terjadi pada organisme merupakan pengetahuan yang penting untuk dipahami oleh siswa di semua jenjang jenjang pendidikan termasuk murid-murid Madrasah Tsanawiah Yasim Nata Kabupaten Bima. Pelatihan dalam pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini berhubungan dengan permasalahan yang dirasakan oleh mitra yaitu tentang bagaimana cara yang harus dilaksanakan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman siswa terhadap konsep akumulasi Hg dan bagaimana bentuk keterampilan awal yang diperlukan siswa MTs Yasim Nata Kabupaten Bima agar model tentang akumulasi logam Hg didalam tubuh makhluk hidup dapat dimengerti dengan baik. Kegiatan pelatihan ini bertujuan yaitu meningkatkan taraf pemahaman dan keterampilan siswa terhadap model akumulasi Hg siswa dan serta cara mengatasi bahaya yang ditimbulkannya. Secara umum kegiatan ini mampu meningkatkan pengetahuan siswa yang menjadi peserta dalam pelatihan ini terhadap model akumulasi Hg dan juga meningkatkan keterampilan peserta mengatasi bahaya Hg. Sebagai kesimpulan yang diperoleh pada pelatihan ini adalah adanya peningkatan taraf penguasaan pengetahuan dan tingkat keterampilan tentang akumulasi Hg didalam tubuh makhluk hidup, terutama didalam tubuh manusia pada siswa MTs Yasim Nata Kabupaten Bima sehingga pada akhirnya bisa mengerti dengan baik tentang model penumpukan logam berat Air Raksa (Hg) didalam jasad hidup dalam rutinitas kehidupannya

Abstract

Research on the heavy metal Cd in fish is crucial to protect humans as consumers from harmful health impacts. This study aimed to determine the cadmium (Cd) content in tilapia (Oreochromis mossambicus) from Taliwang Swamp Lake (TSL). The specific benefit of this study is to protect consumers who consume fish from Cd contamination. This study was conducted in TSL waters. There are two research stations, one located in the eastern part and the other in the western part of the lake. Data collection was carried out using gill nets. Four tilapia samples were taken at each station. The tilapia samples were then wrapped in plastic bags and stored in sample boxes. The research samples were then analyzed at the West Nusa Tenggara Health, Testing and Calibration Laboratory Center. Data analysis was carried out by taking tilapia muscle tissue and analyzing metal content, especially Cadmium (Cd), using an Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer. Measurement of heavy metals in tilapia tissue was carried out by adding concentrated HNO3 and HClO4, heated at 60-70ºC for 2-3 hours until the solution became clear. The samples were ready to be measured by AAS using an air-acetylene flame. The conclusion of this study was that the heavy metal content of Cd in tilapia (O. mossambicus) originating from TSL was 0.03 mg/kg (ppm).

Abstract

Selar crumenophthalmus, known as the bigeye scad, is a commercially important small pelagic fish widely exploited in East Lombok waters. This study aims to examine the reproductive characteristics of the species, including gonadal maturity stages (GMS), gonadosomatic index (GSI), sex ratio, length–weight relationship, and length–fecundity relationship, based on samples collected at PPI Tanjung Luar from June to August 2025. This study employed a descriptive exploratory research design, with samples collected using quota sampling consisting of 90 individuals who landed at PPI Tanjung Luar from June to August 2025, and the data were analyzed descriptively. The species designated GMS I–V, with GMS II and III being the most dominant stages across months. The highest GSI values for both sexes occurred in June, indicating the peak spawning period, with female GSI reaching 2.34% and male GSI 0.80%. Monthly sex ratios shifted from 2.13:1 (June) to 0.64:1 (July) and 1:1 (August). The length–weight relationship showed positive allometric growth in males (b = 3.05) and negative allometric growth in females (b = 2.189). Fecundity ranged from 9,312–11,843 eggs in June and 8,495–15,006 eggs in July, with a strong positive correlation to body length in mature females. These findings indicate that reproduction peaks in June, providing essential information for the sustainable management of the species in Tanjung Luar.

Abstract

Research on heavy metals is important to be done to protect consumers from dangerous impact especially on human beings. The purpose of this study was to determine the Lead (Pb) content in Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) taken from Rawa Taliwang Lake. Specifically, the benefit of this study is to protect consumers who consume Tilapia from Lead heavy metal contaminants. Data collection for the tilapia species in this study was carried out in water bodies within the Taliwang Lake area. There were 2 data collection stations, namely on the east and west sides of the lake. Gill nets were used to catch tilapia. Fish samples were caught as many as 4 fish for each station. Next, each fish sample was put into a plastic bag and then stored in a sample box. The fish samples were then analyzed at the West Nusa Tenggara Health, Testing and Calibration Laboratory Center. The data analysis method was carried out by taking muscle tissue from the fish and then analyzing the Pb heavy metal content using an Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer. The concentration of Lead in fish tissue was measured after adding concentrated Na2SO4 and CuSO4, which were heated at 350ºC for 2-3 hours until the solution was clear. The conclusion of this study is that the heavy metal content of Pb in Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) is <0.5 ppm.

Abstract

Taliwang Swamp Lake is a freshwater ecosystem under pressure from anthropogenic activities, including illegal mining, which has the potential to increase heavy metal contamination. This study aimed to measure Cd concentrations in tilapia in Taliwang Swamp Lake and assess their suitability for consumption based on BPOM standards. Data were analyzed using the Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS) method. The results showed that Cd in tilapia ranged from 0.024 to 0.027 mg/kg, with an average of 0.0255 mg/kg, which is still below the maximum threshold of 0.30 mg/kg. Environmental parameters such as temperature (30oC), pH (7.7-7.8), and salinity (10 ppt) were within the ideal range for aquatic life and did not indicate extreme conditions that could increase Cd bioaccumulation. Visual observation of the fish flesh also showed normal color and texture with no indication of tissue damage due to heavy metal exposure. Overall, tilapia from Lake Rawa Taliwang is still safe for consumption, although regular monitoring is still needed to prevent the risk of long-term Cd exposure.

Abstract

Rawa Taliwang is one of the major lakes in West Sumbawa Regency and is vulnerable to mercury (Hg) contamination resulting from surrounding activities such as illegal gold mining, agricultural runoff, and domestic waste disposal. This study aimed to determine the mercury concentration in catfish (Clarias batrachus) inhabiting the lake and to assess its safety for human consumption. Fish samples were collected from two sampling stations using purposive sampling and analyzed in the laboratory using a Mercury Analyzer. The measured mercury concentrations ranged from 0.058 to 0.086 mg/kg, with an average of 0.072 mg/kg, which is below the maximum allowable limit of 0.50 mg/kg set by the Indonesian National Agency for Drug and Food Control (BPOM) Regulation No. 9/2022. These results indicate that catfish from Rawa Taliwang Lake remain safe for consumption. Continued monitoring and improved environmental management are recommended to prevent future increases in mercury contamination and to ensure long-term ecosystem and public health safety.

Abstract

Taliwang Swamp Lake is a source of livelihood for the people of West Sumbawa. High levels of local activity, such as agriculture and mining, have the potential to pollute the lake with mercury (Hg) due to waste from the amalgamation process and fertilizer residues flowing into the lake. This study aims to determine the heavy metal content of mercury (Hg) in snakehead fish (Channa striata) from Rawa Taliwang Lake and its suitability for consumption. Sampling was carried out using a purposive sampling technique at both stations. The criteria for selecting the sampling location were that it could represent the west and east sides of the lake and also take into account the fishing points that could be accessed, considering that the lake was partly covered with vegetation. Data analysis included determining mercury (Hg) levels using a mercury analyzer. The results showed that the mercury (Hg) content in snakehead fish was 0.078 mg/kg. This level is still suitable for consumption according to Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) regulation No. 9 of 2022.
