Abstract

This study examines the integration of multi-madhhab Sufism within the educational systems of Pesantren Salafiyah Syafi'iyah Sukorejo and Pesantren Zainul Hasan Genggong in East Java, employing a qualitative multi-case descriptive approach. Although both institutions formally adhere to the Sufi madhhabs recognized by Nahdlatul Ulama, namely Al-Ghazali and Al-Junaidi, field findings reveal that they organically sustain four madhhabs simultaneously: Al-Ghazali, Al-Junaidi, Abdul Qadir Al-Jailani, and Abu Hasan Al-Shadzili. Al-Ghazali dominates the cognitive domain through classical text instruction, while Al-Jailani and Al-Shadzili thrive in the ritual dimension through daily devotional practices (wirid), hagiographic recitations (manaqib), and litanies (shalawat). Al-Junaidi persists as a normative symbol without direct textual implementation, indicating that epistemic legitimacy in pesantren relies not only on textual authority but also on the charismatic authority of the kiai and oral tradition. A key difference lies in their pedagogical orientation: Sukorejo adopts an academic-institutional approach emphasizing dzauq (spiritual experiential awareness), whereas Genggong favors a personal-practical model centered on riyadlah (inner spiritual discipline) and the master-disciple relationship. This integration emerges organically from the interplay of kiai authority, local tradition, and the need for character formation, thereby preserving Sufism's relevance as the core of spiritual education without compromising its epistemic authenticity.

Abstract

It seems that religious and religious education research activities at PTAI are still monotonous and not varied, and each study dimension is fixed only on one approach, and more around research, apologetic, and nonnative, has not yet touched on development and evaluation. Therefore, religious and religious education research in the future is expected to cross between dimensions, such as the modern development of the Islamic world with the dimension of time as well as geographical space. Thus, it would seem that the broad-cultivation dimensions of research are to be researched and developed. Therefore, scientific studies / scientific methods (including in the field of religious and religious education), are not solely conducted with research, but can also be done with development, and evaluation. Similarly, the area of religious studies can be developed in: (1) sacred texts as the source of religious teachings, (2) the Muslim community structure, and (3) the behavior of Muslim society. With the expansion of these areas of study, it is hoped that Muslim intellectuals can reflect that religions considered sacred and always approached with a normative framework (based on sacred texts), should be changed by a proportional approach to the study of the social sciences.

Abstract

This research investigates the changes school principals face in improving education quality through the Program Sekolah Penggerak in Indonesia. The principal's leadership is considered one of the key factors in successfully implementing this program. This study uses a qualitative approach by analyzing data from interviews, observations, and document analysis at SMAIT Miftahul Khoir Bandung. The results of the research show that school principals in this program are more active in directing (decision making, developing RKAS and budgeting, designing educational unit operational curricula, experience regarding curriculum changes, evaluative competence), managing human resources (building the personal capacity of teachers and staff, building a conducive culture, organizing the school structure), and building partnerships. With the various trainings available both through the direction of school principals and the government, it is hoped that teachers will become more active in capturing various changes in the curriculum and become role models for other schools. The research is expected to contribute to the researchers who will conduct military research on madrasa-based schools in implementing the independent curriculum.

Education is a process of humanizing humans that must be adapted to the situation and conditions as well as the development of the times. In addition, the definition of Education according to Law No. 20 of 2003 concerning SISDIKNAS, is a conscious and planned effort to create a learning atmosphere and learning process so that students actively develop their potential to have religious spiritual strength, self-control, personality, intelligence, noble morals, and the skills they need. Abstract

Abstract

This investigates moral education through spiritual reinforcement of teachers in the Qodiriyah wa Naqsyabandiyah Tarekat at MA Darul Ulum Karangpandan, Pasuruan, addressing contemporary moral degradation in formal education. Employing qualitative case study methodology with triangulated data collection, the research is grounded in the theo-anthropocentric paradigm and Islamic intellectual traditions. Three principal findings emerged. First, "kun ma'a man ma'allah" constitutes the conceptual framework, operationalized through tazkiyah al-nafs, istiqāmah, muḥāsabah, and divine love. Second, implementation occurs through dual approaches: value internalization via takhallī and taḥallī strategies incorporating bay'ah, riyāḍah, tawajjuhān, and qudwah; and institutional integration through religious activities and performance appraisal systems. Third, implications manifest in teachers' spiritual transformation encompassing ma'rifatullāh, al-wa'y al-ilāhī, and takhalluq bi akhlāq Allāh. The study demonstrates how Sufistic moral education cultivates ethical consciousness among educators within formal educational contexts.

Abstract

Penelitian This study aims to analyze curriculum management in integrating the Four Pillars of UNESCO Education as a strategy to develop students’ character at SD Mamba’ul Hisan Kediri. The research employed a qualitative approach with a quasi-qualitative design, combining observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis to obtain a comprehensive understanding of the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the integrated curriculum. The findings indicate that the school integrates the four pillars learning to know, learning to do, learning to be, and learning to live together through character-based curriculum planning, structured module development, religious habituation, and the strengthening of social interaction within classroom activities. The implementation of this integration is carried out collaboratively by the principal, teachers, and foundation, supported by a religious school culture and a conducive academic environment. The impact is reflected in the improvement of students’ discipline, responsibility, independence, and positive social interaction skills. However, the study also identifies several challenges, including limited facilities, varied teacher competencies in applying student-centered learning, and low motivation among some students. The study concludes that directed and consistent curriculum management significantly contributes to the internalization of character values through the UNESCO Four Pillars.

Abstract

Background: This study is grounded in the importance of Islamic education in shaping community character and the need to understand how Qur’anic values are internalized within a religious community that consistently upholds them in daily life. Purpose: The research aims to analyze the process of internalizing Islamic educational values in the Qur’anic Village of Sirangkap, Mandailing Natal, through five interconnected stages: value transformation, value transaction, transinternalization, social integration of values, and value formalization. Method: Employing a qualitative phenomenological approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis, and examined using Muhaimin’s theory of value internalization, Bandura’s social learning theory, Piaget–Kohlberg’s moral development theory, Vygotsky’s sociocultural theory, and Durkheim’s concept of social integration. Result: The findings reveal that Islamic values are internalized through five interconnected stages: value transformation, value transaction, transinternalization, social integration, and value formalization. This process is sustained through parental and religious role modeling, educational interactions in schools and community spaces, collective religious habituation, strong social cohesion based on ukhuwah, and the institutionalization of values within village regulations and religious institutions. As a result, Islamic values evolve from external norms into intrinsic motivations that shape individual behavior and collective identity. Conclusion: This study demonstrates that the Sirangkap model offers a sustainable community-based framework for Islamic value education, which can inform similar initiatives in other rural or socially vulnerable communities seeking to strengthen moral character and social resilience through Islamic education.
