Abstract

This study investigates the implementation of religious moderation in a multicultural school context, focusing on how SMP Negeri 1 Sanggau integrates these values into its educational environment. Motivated by the growing need to cultivate inclusive and tolerant attitudes among students, the research aims to explore the application of religious moderation values and examine institutional efforts to internalize these principles in daily school life. Employing a qualitative case study design, participants were selected through purposive sampling and included Islamic Religious Education teachers, school administrators, homeroom teachers, and student representatives. Data were collected through direct observation of both curricular and extracurricular activities, unstructured interviews, and analysis of the school’s social media content. The findings reveal that the school promotes religious moderation through a universal values-based approach, specifically drawing from Diane Tillman’s Living Values Education (LVE) framework. Core values such as tolerance, peace, cooperation, and unity are not only incorporated into classroom instruction but are also embedded in school-wide practices, including interfaith celebrations, local wisdom projects, and the routine cultivation of inclusive attitudes. The study concludes that the integration of universal character values provides an effective foundation for fostering religious moderation without privileging any particular religious identity. This approach offers practical implications for the development of character education models in multicultural educational settings.

Abstract

This research addresses the limited development of interactive learning media aimed at enhancing students’creative and innovative thinking skills in Islamic Religious Education (PAI), despite its proven impact on motivation and learning outcomes. The study focuses on the development, validation, attractiveness, and effectiveness of Kokami learning media for Grade VII students at SMP Negeri 6 Singosari, Malang Regency. Utilizing a Research and Development (R&D) approach based on the Borg and Gall model as modified by Sugiyono, the research involved small (n=10) and medium (n=30) student groups. Data collection instruments included expert validation sheets, student response questionnaires, pretests, posttests, and interviews. Analysis employed descriptive statistics, the Likert and Guttman scales, and N-gain calculations. The development process followed nine steps, resulting in a validated media tool, with expert ratings exceeding 90% for both content and design. The media was rated highly attractive, receiving a 97.51% positive response from students. In terms of effectiveness, student learning outcomes improved from an average pretest score of 67.5 to a posttest score of 79.1, with an N-gain of 0.357, indicating moderate effectiveness. The study concludes that the Kokami media development process, particularly its six key stages plays a significant role in promoting creative and innovative thinking in PAI learning. The findings contribute theoretically to game-based learning media design and offer practical recommendations for educators to integrate interactive tools into religious education. Future research is encouraged to expand the sample size and further investigate the media’s impact on student interest and achievement across diverse contexts.

Abstract

In the context of education, the Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) of educators has a significant impact on teaching quality, school climate, and student achievement. However, research on how supervision with a service leadership approach can improve educators' OCB in Indonesia is limited. The purpose of this study is to find an effective supervision model based on service leadership type to improve Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) among teachers in Indonesia, especially at the junior high school level. This research used the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method. The subjects involved in this study were relevant scientific publications, both in Indonesian and English, that focused on the context of educational institutions in Indonesia. The literature search was conducted through academic databases such as Google Scholar and Crossref on the Publish or Perish application. Inclusion and exclusion criteria were set to select studies that were most relevant to the research topic. Data from the selected studies were systematically analyzed to identify categories of supervision models that are effective in improving teachers' OCB in Indonesia. The results of this study show that there are several categories of supervision models based on service leadership types that are effective in improving teacher OCB in Indonesia, namely: (1) Supervision: Recognition and Reward as part of performance supervision, (2) Individual Development: Employee Development as the main focus in strengthening OCB, (3) Communication: Empathy and Engagement in effective communication between leaders and teachers, (4) Conflict Management: Service Leadership as mediation in handling conflict and facilitating harmonious resolution.

Abstract

Islamic education (PAI) faces challenges from various aspects. In many cases, disproportionate interpretations of hadith, one of the PAI’s subject, often cause many problems in society. According to the fact, authors suggest innovations in integrative hadith learning with social sciences to respond to challenges in the world of Islamic education. The authors found several findings using a qualitative approach and a literature study model. First, various Islamic educational challenges are rooted in globalization with the advent of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 and Society 5.0 era. One of the PAI challenges and problems is an atomistic study. Second, various educational innovations were created by the scholars, such as the use of modern information and communication technology (ICT), and the theory of Multiple Intelligence (MI). Third, integrative hadith learning needs to be carried out in the PAI learning, which is interpreted as a material object and social sciences as a formal object. Educators can comprehensively explain the material for discussing hadith comprehensively and have the vision of rahmatan li al-‘alamin. In addition, students will also be able to understand and eliminate the irregularities of the hadith meaning. The authors conclude that integrative hadith learning is very important in PAI learning to respond to the challenges of Islamic education.

Abstract

In response to the growing prevalence of moral degradation within educational environments, there is an urgent need for effective solutions. This study focuses on exploring the values embedded within the Islamic Building and Character Building programs, the models of value internalization, and the implications of religious and social character development for students. A qualitative approach with a case study design was employed to narrow the broad research scope into a specific, in-depth area of investigation. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis. Data analysis was carried out through data display, condensation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the values internalized through the Islamic Building and Character Building programs play a significant role in reinforcing students’ religious character and social awareness. The Islamic Building program encompasses values such as faith, worship, morality, steadfastness (istiqamah), and brotherhood (ukhuwah), while the Character Building program emphasizes leadership, empathy, creativity and innovation, collaboration, and responsibility. A variety of activities were designed to foster a conducive learning environment, including the implementation of the 5S routine (smile, greet, salute, polite, and courtesy), recitation of prayers before and after lessons, collective performance of Duha and Dhuhr prayers, a Qur’an memorization (tahfiz) program, the internalization of a sense of shame towards misconduct, and character development led by homeroom teachers. The internalization programs positively impacted students’ character, as evidenced by greater consistency in religious observances, stronger adherence to school rules, improved discipline, and a heightened sense of social responsibility.

Abstract

This study aims to examine how an Islamic boarding school implements the principles of quality management to improve the quality of educators, so that the quality of graduates of Islamic boarding schools has increased and also has high competitiveness from other educational institutions in general. Educators are the spearhead of success in the educational process. Islamic boarding schools in Indonesia have experienced a bad stigma regarding Islamic boarding school management, and this still occurs to date. Since Islamic boarding schools are poorly run, there has not been much change in the status quo in non-formal education, which is characterized as conventional, conservative, and outdated. Nevertheless, the public still strongly desires Islamic boarding schools, which are rumored to exist occasionally. Library research methods are used in this investigation. The research data source includes library resources, books, and chosen research articles pertinent to this study. According to the research findings, Kyai's responsibilities as a top leader are multifaceted; he must enhance his quality as a manager, teacher, and preacher. They can work professionally by their roles and duties and are quality in the truest sense. Providing decent salaries and ensuring teacher welfare can be a consideration for improving teacher quality to improve the quality of education; moreover, in implementing Islamic boarding schools, quality management is based on management principles, including Planning, Organizing, acting, and Controlling, which are based on quality. The implications of the results of this study for the leaders of Islamic boarding schools are that it is very important to implement quality principles, namely continuous improvement, quality standards (quality assurance), development of quality culture (development of culture), organizational changes that follow changes in vision and mission that are oriented towards quality (upside down organization) and maintaining good relationships with customers (keeping close to the customer). So that leaders can manage professionally to meet the needs of the professionalism of the Ustaz that Islamic boarding schools need.

Abstract

Organisational commitment is a bond between individuals and organisations, reflecting a sense of belonging and support for the organisation's values and goals. The main problem in this study is the lack of consensus in defining the construct of organisational commitment. The measure of commitment that does not always match the definition applied makes it challenging to synthesise research results related to organisational commitment. This study aims to understand the concept of organisational commitment and the factors that influence the formation of this commitment. This study uses a qualitative literature study approach to analyse books, articles, and journals related to organisational commitment in education. Data were collected by selecting relevant literature and tested for validity with source triangulation. Data analysis was carried out descriptively and interpretively, followed by writing and revising the manuscript until the final. The study's results identified three dimensions of organisational commitment: affective, continuance, and normative. Affective commitment encourages emotional attachment and innovation, while continuance commitment focuses on high output costs and can cause frustration. Normative commitment increases participation and performance. This study also identified four main approaches to understanding organisational commitment factors: attitudinal, behavioural, multidimensional, and normative. This commitment affects individual awareness, rules, communication, facilities, and work characteristics. In education, organisational commitment is negatively related to turnover and affects organisational performance and sustainability. This study enriches the understanding of organisational commitment in education, highlighting the affective, continuance, and normative dimensions influencing engagement and innovation. The limitations of this study include the limited context of education and quantitative measurement because it may ignore psychological nuances. Further research can explore the impact of commitment dimensions on performance in various sectors and use a qualitative approach to explore individual factors and social contexts that influence organisational sustainability.
