Abstract

Reading is an activity aimed at obtaining meaning or information from a text. Therefore, reading is a fundamental skill that must be learned. However, based on the researcher’s observations at SD Negeri 46 Ampenan, several students were still found to have low reading ability. The purpose of this study was to improve students’ reading skills by using the Word Card Box learning media. The research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach conducted in two cycles, which included planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through observations of learning activities, interviews with students, and reading skill tests. The results showed that the use of the Word Card Box media improved students’ reading skills in Indonesian language learning, with the average score increasing from 65 in the pre-cycle to 85 in the second cycle. These findings indicate that the Word Card Box can be used as an innovative and effective learning medium in classroom activities.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the difficulties of implementation online learning during the covid-19 pandemic to students of Chemistry Education Program at Mataram of University. This type of research is descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The population of this study is 229 students of the Chemistry Education Program at Mataram of University in semester II, IV and VI. The samples were questionnaires and interviews. The result showed that; 1) Learning difficulties in subject considered difficult by students of the Chemistry Education Program at the University of Mataram in the implementation of online learning during the covid-19 pandemic were organic chemistry courses with a percentage of 45%; 2) The highest difficulties faced by students in the implementation of online learning during the covid-19 pandemic were caused by aspect of the student’s socioeconomic conditions with a percentage of 84% in the very high category; 3) The lowest the covid-19 pandemic were organic chemistry courses with a percentage of 45%; 2) The highest difficulties faced by students in the implementation of online learning during the covid-19 pandemic were caused by aspect of the student’s social economic interaction with a percentage of 64% in the high category.

Abstract

This research is a research and development (R&D) that aims to find out: (1) the steps in the process of developing a generic science-based worksheet using ambient waste on colloid material (2) the level of validity and practicality of a generic science-based worksheet using ambient waste on colloid material regarding the water purification process that has been developed. The research design used 4D model (define, design, develop, and disseminate). The population in this study were all students of grade XI MIPA at SMA Negeri 1 Keruak, as many as 123 students and consisting of 4 classes. The sample used in this study was class XI MIPA-3 which consisted of 31 students. The results showed that the average validity value of the three validators for all aspects is 0.82 which indicates that the developed worksheet is in the very valid category. Meanwhile, practicality can be seen from student responses which show positive responses. The average percentage for all aspects is 85.2%, which indicates that the worksheets developed are in the very practical category. Based on these data, it can be concluded that the generic science-based worksheet using ambient waste on colloid material is valid and very practical to use in the learning process.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness, constraints, and efforts during chemistry learning takes place online during the Covid-19 Pandemic at SMAN 1 Gerung, West Lombok Regency. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The data collected is in the form of a questionnaire filled by 72 samples. The research sample was taken by simple random sampling that has been calculated with the slovin formula. Results of data analysis the research questionnaire on all indicators produces an average value successively with less effective aspects as follows: indicators process communication 3,40 indicators management of the implementation of learning 3,20, indicators student response 3,32, indicators learning activity 3,10, and indicators outcome student learning 3,20. Online chemistry learning in the future the Covid-19 pandemic at SMAN 1 Gerung, West Lombok Regency, is still lacking effective with an average value of 3.24. Constraints during learning takes place online, namely an unstable internet connection, limited quota internet, and there are students who do not have cellphones. Efforts made to overcome obstacles, namely the teacher visits the student's house to give learning and limited face to face learning.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of Self Regulated Learning (SRL) in online learning for chemistry education students at the University of Mataram. This type of research is descriptive research with a quantitative approach. The sample used consisted of 200 active students of the chemistry education study program at the University of Mataram. Sampling was carried out using proportionated stratified random sampling. The instruments used in this study were student response questionnaires. The measurement scale used is the Likert scale, with alternative answers to questions consisting of 4 alternative answers and 25 statement items that include 5 indicators that have been tested for validity in the research instrument trial (test validity and reliability). The questionnaire was distributed online which was compiled into a google form and sent via WhatsApp. The analysis technique uses descriptive statistical analysis techniques. The results showed that the average value from the analysis of the overall indicators obtained the highest average value was indicator 5 (seeking help) which was 2,916 and the indicator with the lowest average value was indicator 3 (environmental structuring) with a value of 2,613. Based on these data, as many as 17 of 200 students have a poor level of Self Regulated Learning, 79 of 200 students have a Self Regulated Learning fairly good 92 out of 200 students have a good level of Self-Regulated Learning, then 12 out of 200 students have Self Regulated Learning in online learning. It can be concluded that the level of Self Regulated Learning (SRL) in online learning of chemistry education students at the University of Mataram is in the good category.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of chemistry learning during the implementation of online learning at State High Schools in Sumbawa district (SMAN 1 Sumbawa, SMAN 2 Sumbawa, and SMAN 3 Sumbawa). This type of research is descriptive with an ex post facto quantitative approach. Sampling technique with the formula of Isaac and Michael with an error rate of 5%, obtained 210 samples. Data collection on the effectiveness of online learning using a closed questionnaire with a Likert scale consisting of 36 statements. Data analysis techniques using descriptive statistical analysis techniques by calculating percentages, results were obtained: indicators of managing the implementation of learning by 72%, communicative processes by 65%, student responses by 52%, learning activities by 68%, and learning outcomes by 70%. The results showed that the effectiveness of chemistry learning during the implementation of online learning with these 5 indicators falls into the effective category with an average of 65%.

Abstract

This study aims to explain how the use of jigsaw type cooperative learning model assisted by socrative media can improve chemistry learning outcomes for class X SMA. The study conducted was  quasi experimental design. The samples were randomly selected (simple random sampling) while the sample was X MIPA 1 as controll class and X MIPA 3 as experimental class. The independent variables of this study were the use of  jigsaw type cooperative learning model assisted by socrative media in the experimental class and the use of  jigsaw type cooperative learning model in the control class. The dependent variable in this study is chemistry learning outcomes. The chemistry learning outcomes were carried out by the N-gain test with the result that the student of experimental class has the most N-gain value in effective category of 63,88% compared to the controll class of 17,14%. The data in this study were declared abnormal and homogenous. Then, the hypothesis was carried out with Mann-Withney and Wilcoxon test. The result of the hypothesis test is there is an influence of the application of jigsaw type cooperative learning model assisted by socrative media on chemistry learning outcomes in class of X SMA.

Abstract

Pre-lab activities have not been a serious concern, especially in the development of instruments. Until now, pre-lab activities have only provided tests based on work procedures or concepts described in the practicum instructions. Instruments capable of measuring various aspects of basic laboratory skills have not been widely developed. This study aims to develop a pre-laboratory instrument based on basic laboratory skills. Five categories of basic skills were identified: procedural, manipulative, observation, interpretation, and conclusion skills. A total of 20 items, representing various aspects of the identified skills, were developed and deemed feasible through expert agreement. Testing the instrument on 45 respondents revealed that 15 questions met the criteria for validity (p<0.05) and demonstrated good reliability.

Abstract

This research aims to identify the laboratory literacy level of SMA/MA students in Mataram City and describe laboratory literacy in 4 aspects: context, content, competence, and attitude, in carrying out practicums in the laboratory. Laboratory literacy measurement techniques through stages pre-lab to measure the ability of the content aspect, namely identifying knowledge initial or basic concepts that support practicum, subsequent stage lab work to measure context aspects, namely problem identification, analysis objectives, and principles of analytical methods for testing scientific ideas, and attitude aspects during practicum. Stagepost lab measuring competency aspects related to data analysis from practicum results as a basis for decision making. The research data was analyzed descriptively. Research results show that value. The average student laboratory literacy in the context and attitude aspects is high, namely 78.22 and 86.8, but for the content and competency aspects, it is still low, namely 54.26 and 54.15. The conclusions of this research are as follows: (1)Ability The average laboratory literacy of SMA/MA students in the city of Mataram is a category enough, namely 67.71. (2) The ability to apply chemistry to real-life problems (Chemical Literacy) can be improved by optimizing the use of laboratories as chemistry learning centers

Abstract

Implementation of Integrated Problem-Based Learning and Storytelling Technique on Learning Outcomes and Attitudes Towards Chemistry. Objective: This study aims to analyze the effect of problem-based learning (PBL) integrated with storytelling on learning outcomes and attitudes towards chemistry in basic chemistry courses. Methods: This experimental study employed a pretest-post-test control group design. The sample consisted of 99 new students from the Faculty of Agricultural Technology enrolled in basic chemistry courses, with 49 students in the experimental group and 50 in the control group. The research instruments included a critical thinking test with 15 validated multiple-choice questions (Cronbach's alpha = 0.817) and an attitude towards chemistry instrument based on four categories (Cronbach's alpha = 0.765). Data analysis was performed using MANOVA. Results: The results showed that the N-gain of student learning outcomes was higher in the experimental group compared to the control group. Similarly, students' attitudes towards chemistry in the experimental group, which received PBL with storytelling integration, were higher in all categories than those in the control group. The highest attitude scores in the experimental group were in the categories of attitude towards chemistry material and confidence in learning chemistry, while the lowest score was in the category of attitude towards chemistry laboratory work. In the control group, the highest score was in the category of the tendency to learn chemistry, with the lowest score matching the experimental group's lowest category. The MANOVA test indicated a significant effect of PBL with storytelling integration on both learning outcomes and attitudes towards chemistry. Conclusion: Implementing problem-based learning integrated with storytelling in basic chemistry courses positively influences learning outcomes and attitudes towards chemistry, with the experimental group showing better results compared to the control group. Keywords: attitudes towards chemistry, critical thinking, storytelling, problem based learning.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v14.i2.202477
