Abstract

Background: Health-seeking behavior in TB is needed to break the chain of transmission. In 2024, TB case notification in Jambi City did not reach the target of the 2030 TB Control Strategy. Seeking health services will increase case notification rates and break the chain of transmission. Methods: Quantitative with a cross-sectional approach conducted in the community of Mayang Mangurai Village with a minimum sample of 220. Questionnaire filling by direct interview. Respondents were selected using probability proportional to size (PPS). The questionnaire was filled in using the KoboCollect v2024.2.4 application and analyzed using STATA version 17, univariate and bivariate data analysis. Bivariate analysis was performed with chi-square. The study aimed to determine the factors associated with health-seeking behavior related to tuberculosis. Results: A total of 251 respondents answered the interview questions. Respondents who had poor behavior were 65.7%. There was no significant relationship between age, gender, education level, occupation, income, knowledge, and attitude with health-seeking behavior. Most people learned about TB for the first time through family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers. The most effective source of information for respondents was social media. Conclusion: None of the independent variables was statistically significantly associated with the dependent variable.

Abstract

The use of e-cigarettes among adolescents is increasing and has become a serious health problem, primarily due to a lack of knowledge and misperceptions about the risks. This study aims to determine the effect of animated video media on improving students' knowledge and attitudes in rejecting e-cigarettes. The study used a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach. It was conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Jambi City with a sample of 46 respondents selected using a convenience sampling technique. Data were collected through knowledge and attitude questionnaires, then analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. The results showed a significant increase in knowledge after the animated video intervention (p=0.000), where most respondents experienced an increase in the knowledge category to good.

Abstract

Smoking behavior among adolescents remains a public health problem that can increase the risk of various diseases in the future. This study aimed to determine the relationship between peer influence and perceptions of smoking and smoking behavior among junior high school students in Pasar District, Jambi. This study was a quantitative study with a cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 252 junior high school students selected using proportional random sampling. Data collection was conducted using a questionnaire. Data analysis was performed using univariate and bivariate methods using the Chi-Square test with a 95% confidence level. The results showed that of the 252 respondents, 181 respondents (71.8%) had a favorable peer influence category, and 139 respondents (55.2%) had a favorable perception of smoking. The bivariate analysis revealed a significant relationship between peer influence and smoking behavior (p-value = 0.003; PR = 1.33; 95% CI = 1.06–1.67). Furthermore, there was a significant relationship between perceptions of smoking and smoking behavior (p-value = 0.001; PR = 1.32; 95% CI = 1.09–1.61). It can be concluded that peer influence and perceptions of smoking are significantly related to smoking behavior among junior high school students in Pasar District, Jambi.
