Pregnant women often experience nausea and vomiting (Emesis Gravidarum), especially in the first trimester of pregnancy. Objective : To determine the effect of giving lavender aromatherapy in reducing the frequency of nausea and vomiting before and after being given lavender aromatherapy to pregnant women in the first trimester. Research Method: This pre-experimental research design used a responsive pre-post test because it only involved one group of subjects. The subject's body was detected before the intervention was carried out, then detected again after the intervention was carried out. The subjects used in this study were pregnant women who experienced hyperemesis gravidarum in the first trimester of pregnancy. Results: It is known that Clients 1 and 2 experience nausea and vomiting more often than four times a day before receiving lavender aromatherapy. For Client 1, the frequency of nausea and vomiting was found to decrease after receiving lavender aromatherapy for three consecutive days, and the client did not experience nausea or vomiting at all. For Client 2 there was no change in giving lavender aromatherapy because the client continued to experience nausea and vomiting with a frequency of about 2 times per day. Conclusion: the overall evaluation results showed that one of the clients used non-pharmacological techniques and received lavender aromatherapy which caused a decrease in nausea, while the other clients who received lavender aromatherapy continued to experience nausea and vomiting. about twice a day vomiting.

Abstract

The phenomenon of exclusive breastfeeding coverage that is still low in the long term will have implications for children's growth and development. This study explores the relationship between exclusive breastfeeding and the incidence of stunting in toddlers in the Working Area of the Limboto Health Center, Gorontalo Regency. By involving 93 respondents of mothers of toddlers aged 7-24 months, this study used a cross-sectional, quantitative approach for exclusive and qualitative breastfeeding history variables with in-depth interviews of exclusive breastfeeding factors, data analysis using the Chi-square test method. Most toddlers in the very short (16.1%), and short (14.0%) categories, then those who do not receive exclusive breastfeeding tend to be stunted (p = 0.001). Factors of exclusive breastfeeding include health facilities that are far enough away so that health services and counseling obtained are not optimal, lack of maternal understanding of the importance of nutritional status during the first 1000 days of life or during pregnancy until the child is 2 years old, mothers with a history of SEZ conditions, history of anemia and irregular consumption of Fe tablets during pregnancy mostly give birth to children with stunting. Efforts to overcome the problem of stunting require good cross-sectoral cooperation. Further research is needed by paying attention to cultural and contextual factors.

Abstract

Malnutrition especially stunting, is a major public health issue in many parts of the world including the Ponelo Islands of North Gorontalo. Stunting among toddlers is associated with the dietary patterns adopted in the communities and the accessibility of government relations such as the PMT – Supplementary Feeding Program of ‘this area’. Fresh from interviews with health officials, health cadres and parents of stunted children in Ethiopia, the study identified poor dietary diversity and improper feeding schedules as common factors for stunting. Despite enriching enough nutritional support through PMT program, its effectiveness is limited by problems like the erratic implementation and the absence of wide ranging and permanent solutions for the malnutrition problems. The study underscores the necessity of a dual approach, initial nutritional interventions accompanied by a focus on issues affecting pre-school children’s access to nutritious foods, availability and procurement authorities vested in caregivers. By addressing these causes, it becomes possible to empower a community to ensure all children when given opportunity grow to their full potential in eliminating stunting.
