Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between the listening skills of folk tales and the narrative writing skills of seventh-grade students at MTsN 6 Kota Jambi. Listening and writing are interconnected language skills, where listening as a receptive skill can strengthen writing as a productive skill. This research employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design. Data were collected using two types of tests: an objective test to assess listening skills and a performance-based test to assess narrative writing skills. Data analysis was performed using SPSS version 25. The results of the Spearman correlation test showed a correlation coefficient of 0.454 with a significance value of 0.017 (< 0.05), indicating a significant and positive relationship between listening skills in folk tales and narrative writing skills. These findings suggest that the better students' listening skills, the better their writing performance. Keywords: listening skills, writing skills, folk tales, narrative text, correlation

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) mendeskripsikan bentuk-bentuk implikatur yang terdapat pada bahasa iklan produk minuman di kanal YouTube. (2) mendeskripsikan fungsi implikatur yang terdapat pada bahasa iklan produk minuman di kanal YouTube. (3) mendeskripsikan makna implikatur yang terdapat pada bahasa iklan produk minuman di kanal YouTube. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Data penelitian ini berupa tuturan pada iklan produk minuman di kanal YouTube. Sumber data dari penelitian ini adalah iklan minuman yang ditayangkan di media sosial Youtube dengan menggunakan teknik simak dan catat. Pada penelitian ini, uji validitas yang akan digunakan adalah triangulasi data. Analisis data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan model analisis Miles dan Huberman yang terdiri dari 3 alur, yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah (1) bentuk-bentuk implikatur dalam iklan produk minuman di kanal Youtube yang paling banyak ditemukan yaitu implikatur konvensional, yang lebih menekankan pada makna kata dan bukan prinsip percakapan. (2) fungsi implikatur yang terdapat dalam bahasa iklan produk minuman dalam penelitian ini secara menyeluruh lebih fokus pada tindak tutur asertif yaitu menyampaikan apa yang diyakini penutur sesuai dengan bentuk tuturan dalam setiap kalimat. (3) makna implikatur yang ditemukan yaitu makna tersirat yang dilihat melalui konteks percakapan maupun  yang dilihat dari setiap kalimat yang ada dalam iklan.

Abstract

Penelitian  ini menganalisis proses reduplikasi berafiksasi pada cerpen “Robohnya Surau Kami” karya Ali Akbar Navis. Reduplikasi berafiksasi merupakan salah satu morfologi yang memperkaya bahasa Indonesia dengan pembentukan kata baru atau perubahan makna melalui pengulangan bentuk dasar yang disertai penambahan afiksasi. Hal ini dapat memberikan kontribusi akademik pada bidang linguistik khususnya morfologi. Penelitian ini dilakukan karena untuk mengetahui bentuk reduplikasi berafiksasi yang ditemukan dalam cerpen tersebut, mendeskripsikan proses pembentukannya, serta menganalisis makna yang terkandung di dalam cerpen tersebut. Metode yang digunakan yaitu pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dengan data dikumpulkan mencatat semua kata yang mengalami reduplikasi berafiksasi dari cerpen tersebut. Hasil dari penelitian bahwa cerpen “Robohnya Surau Kami” karya Ali Akbar Navis menggunakan kata berbentuk reduplikasi berafiksasi. Analisis morfologis khususnya pada bentuk reduplikasi berafiksasi dapat membuka wawasan mengenai kekayaan bahasa Indonesia dalam karya sastra. Hasil penelitian juga dapat memberikan kontribusi untuk pengembangan teori morfologis serta menjadi acuan bagi peneliti selanjutnya  dalam menganalisis gaya bahasa penulis lain dari perspektif morfologi. Selain itu, pemahaman yang lebik baik tentang penggunaan reduplikasi berafiksasi ini dapat membantu pembaca dalam mengapresiasi keindahan bahasa dalam karya sastra Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to desribe and analyze the moral values contained in four folktales from the Batak Toba region, namely Putri Berdarah Putih, Baleo Mahato, Si Tangan Bulu, and Balige Raja. This research employs a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The research dare were obtained from the folktale texts sourced using the Miles and Huberman (1994) model, which includes three stages: data reduction, data display, and conlusion drawing. The findings show that the four folktales contain moral values that reflect the worldview of the Batak Toba community. The identified moral values include honesty, responsibility, patience, religiosity, diligence and justice. These values are classified into three main aspects according to Nurgiyantoro (2010), namely the relationship between humans and God, humans and themselves, and humans and others or the social environment. The results of this study affirm that folktales play an important role as a medium of moral education and as a means of preserving the wisdom of Batak Toba people amid the currents of modernization.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengungkap makna tanda dan fungsi humor dalam tokoh Biang pada lakon Sumbadra Tundhung dalam pertunjukan Wayang Topeng Sri Kresna Situbondo. Tokoh Biang merupakan figur lawakan yang tidak hanya sekadar menghadirkan kelucuan, tetapi juga menyampaikan nilai-nilai moral dan religius yang hidup dalam masyarakat. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan pendekatan semiotika Ferdinand de Saussure untuk menganalisis hubungan antara penanda dan petanda pada unsur visual, verbal, dan gerak tubuh dalam pementasan. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui observasi langsung, wawancara dengan dalang dan penonton, serta dokumentasi dan studi pustaka yang relevan. Analisis dilakukan dengan mengidentifikasi bentuk tanda, menginterpretasikan maknanya dalam sosial budaya Situbondo, dan menafsirkan nilai-nilai yang disampaikan melalui humor Biang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tokoh Biang menampilkan karakter yang jenaka dan spontan melalui gerak tubuh, dialog, serta ekspresi topeng yang khas. Di balik kelucuannya, Biang menyampaikan pesan kehidupan tentang keikhlasan, kesederhanaan, serta ajakan menjauhi sifat sombong, riya, dan iri hati. Humor yang dibawakan tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai hiburan, tetapi juga sebagai media penyampaian pesan moral dan refleksi sosial. Dengan demikian, kehadiran Biang dalam Wayang Topeng Sri Kresna menjadi wujud ekspresi budaya yang menggabungkan estetika tawa dengan kebijaksanaan hidup masyarakat Situbondo.

Abstract

The integration of local wisdom into digital learning media for Indonesian for Foreign Speakers (BIPA) remains limited, particularly in beginner-level instruction. Foreign learners require visual and interactive media to understand cultural values, social practices, and regional traditions in a contextual manner. This study aims to develop Canva-based digital learning media that integrates Jambi local wisdom to support cultural learning in BIPA classes. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model, which consists of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Seventeen BIPA students at the University of Jambi participated in the product trial. A pretest–posttest design was applied to assess learning improvement, and data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test due to the small sample size and non-normal data distribution. The results indicate a statistically significant improvement in students’ learning outcomes (p = 0.001) with a large effect size (r = 0.833). Although the limited number of participants limits generalization, the findings demonstrate that Canva-based digital media effectively enhance cultural understanding and learning engagement in BIPA instruction. This study contributes to BIPA pedagogy by offering a practical model for integrating local wisdom into digital language learning media.

Abstract

Indonesian language teachers at junior high schools in Tanjung Jabung Timur Regency face challenges in teaching explanatory text writing due to limited use of interactive digital learning media and inadequate integration of technology into pedagogy. This community engagement program aimed to enhance teachers’ competence through training based on the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) framework, with a focus on the Canva platform. The program involved 30 Indonesian language teachers from several junior high schools and was implemented through structured activities, including needs assessment, material delivery, collaborative discussions, hands-on media development, and evaluation using pretest and posttest instruments. The results showed a significant improvement in teacher competence, indicated by a mean score difference of −15.433, a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), and a very large effect size (Cohen’s d = 2.648). These findings confirm that the training effectively improved teachers’ ability to design creative, interactive, and curriculum-aligned digital learning media for teaching explanatory texts. The novelty of this program lies in the contextual integration of the TPACK framework with digital media training oriented toward explanatory writing and local content, supporting the technology-enhanced implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum and providing a replicable model for similar teacher training initiatives.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of interactive learning videos based on the Discovery Learning model on students’ scientific writing skills in Phase F at SMAN 11 Muaro Jambi. This research employed a quantitative pre-experimental method using a one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of one experimental class selected purposively. Data were collected through pretest and posttest writing assessments evaluated using a structured rubric. Statistical analysis included normality testing and hypothesis testing using t-test. The results showed a significant improvement in students’ scientific writing ability after the implementation of interactive video-based Discovery Learning. The findings indicate that the integration of interactive video media with Discovery Learning stages effectively enhances students’ understanding of scientific writing structure, argument development, and systematic composition. Therefore, interactive learning videos can serve as an innovative instructional strategy to improve scientific writing competence in senior high school students.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan menulis teks berita siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 14 Kota Jambi dengan menerapkan model pembelajaran Project Based Learning (PjBL). Penelitian ini menggunakan desain Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus, di mana setiap siklusnya mencakup tahapan perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian melibatkan 31 siswa kelas VII F SMP Negeri 14 Kota Jambi tahun ajaran 2025/2026, dengan menerapkan model Project Based Learning (PjBL) untuk meningkatkan kemampuan menulis teks berita. Data dikumpulkan secara komprehensif melalui instrumen tes menulis, lembar observasi, wawancara, serta dokumentasi, yang kemudian dianalisis menggunakan teknik kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Hasilnya menunjukkan efektivitas model PjBL dengan peningkatan ketuntasan (KKTP) dari 45,16% pada siklus pertama menjadi 100% pada siklus kedua, serta kenaikan nilai rata-rata dari 63,06 menjadi 81,29.

Abstract

The article entitled "Implementation of Project Based Learning Model Using YouTube Media on Students' Exposition Text Writing Ability Phase F at SMA Negeri 10 Jambi City" aims to describe the implementation of Project Based Learning (PjBL) model assisted by YouTube media and its impact on students' exposition text writing ability. This study is limited to grade XI students Phase F at SMA Negeri 10 Jambi City and focuses on the learning process and the results of students' writing abilities after the implementation of the learning model. The study uses a qualitative approach with a case study type. Data collection is carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation, while data analysis uses an interactive analysis model that includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that in the initial stage students' understanding of exposition text is still low, especially in identifying text structures and developing arguments. After the implementation of the Project Based Learning model using YouTube media, students are able to analyze elements of exposition text such as main ideas, facts or data, causes, and impacts better. The results of the writing assessment showed that most students obtained good to very good categories with an average class score of around 85. This finding indicates that the implementation of Project Based Learning assisted by YouTube media can create more active, contextual, and effective learning in improving students' expository text writing skills.
