Abstract

ABSTRACT The problem of students who live in dormitories often experience itching due to the transmission of scabies disease caused by the Sarcoptes scabiei mite, poor sanitation environments, such as hanging dirty clothes and bedding which serve as preferred living habitat other than in human skin. Scabies mites can survive 2-3 days in the external environment of the body, especially on fabrics such as clothes, towels, and mattresses. The personal hygiene of students and the habits of students do not apply Clean and Healthy Living Behavior, such as the habit of littering. Toilets are poorly maintained and do not wash their hands when consuming snacks; even allowing clogged drains can cause puddles at risk of falling due to slippery floors causing accidents for students, even though the management of the boarding school has given directions and appeals to students, but the application is still low. The method of implementing training activities is carried out by means of active interaction, active discussion, and role play with students and direct practice of waste treatment using a modified model of photochemical technology and a rapid sand filter. Increasing the understanding of students managerially using the herbal game traffic method approach is expected to be able to increase awareness and sensitivity in solving these problems. The results of the analysis of students' knowledge can understand that the cleanliness of clothes, towels, and tools can affect the transmission of scabies. The level of understanding of students is 0.43%. In PKM training activities, there are 98% of students who have increased their understanding of healthy and nutritious nutrition and can be developed in Islamic boarding schools as healthy snacks, while the practice of herbal games is still a model for problem recognition, and herbal solutions are said to be rarely applied by 40% to prevent scabies, both using herbal preparations and the application of clean and healthy living behaviors. Abstract

Pomegranate (Punica granatum) is a plant that contains secondary metabolite compounds that can be used as medicinal content. Black pomegranate contains the highest secondary metabolites compared to red pomegranate and white pomegranate, the skin of the pomegranate contains flavonoids, phenols, tannins, and saponins. This study aims to determine the antioxidant activity of black pomegranate peel extract (Punica granatum L.) with the DPPH method. DPPH method is a method to determine the antioxidant activity in the sample by looking at its ability to counteract the free radical compound 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl. The results of testing the antioxidant activity of black pomegranate skin (Punica granatum L.) produced an IC50 value of 47.51 ppm which can be concluded that black pomegranate skin is classified as very strong. This research is important because there has not been much research on black pomegranate, especially its skin, so there is a need for additional expansion and renewal of the species. In addition, it can be used as the main basis for the advancement of natural materials, especially in the field of health.

Abstract

The purpose of this activity is to increase students' knowledge about PHBS and diarrhea prevention using herbal ingredients as well as the application of clean water treatment simulations using slow sand filter and biomass filter methods. This method of implementing service uses a participatory and collaborative approach through active and interactive discussions. This activity was carried out by involving 54 students of Bahrul Magfiroh Islamic Boarding School Malang. Service participants directly practice and understand the function of applying water treatment devices and the use of herbal ingredients for the prevention of diarrhea. The results of activities on clean water treatment are almost 90% understood by students, both the use of biomass filters and slow sand filters, while 42.6% of students still have a low understanding of how to process herbal ingredients for the prevention of diarrhea. The importance of continuous training on increasing knowledge of clean and healthy living behavior must continue to be improved as an effort to prevent the risk of disease transmission and health problems, including maintaining personal health and the Islamic boarding school environment.

Abstract

Pada penelitian ini kami menggunakan jagung muda sebagai pembaharu dari penelitian sebelumnya. Jagung muda merupakan jagung yang masih tergolong mudah (belum berbiji) biasa disebut dengan jagung semi, janggel. Jagung memiliki kandungan fenolik, flavonoid dan tannin yang berguna sebagai antioksidan, yang mampu menghambat dan melindungi radikal bebas. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menguji aktivitas ektrak jagung muda menggunakan metode DPPH dengan pelarut etanol. Untuk mengetahui aktivitas antioksidan suatu tanaman, salah satu pengukuran yang paling umum dengan menggunakan metode DPPH (2,2-difenil-1-pikrilhidrazil). Hasil antioksidan pada ekstrak jagung muda (Zea mays L.) menggunakan metode DPPH dengan spektrofotometri UV-Vis menunjukkan bahwa nilai IC50 pada jagung muda (Zea mays L.) sebesar 257,92. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa aktivitas antioksidan ekstrak jagung muda (Zea mays L.) termasuk kategori sangat lemah.

Abstract

Cassava leaves (Manihot esculenta Crantz) are herbs used in traditional medicine. Cassava leaves contain secondary metabolite chemicals such as vitamin C, flavonoids, tannins, saponins, and triterpenes. Cassava leaves are pharmacologically active as anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antioxidants. To identify the sample's active antioxidant components using the DPPH technique. The DPPH method is a method of determining the antioxidant activity of a sample by examining its capacity to neutralize free radicals of the 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl molecule. The antioxidant activity of quercetin from cassava leaf extract (Manihot esculenta Crantz) yielded an IC50 value of 210.33. The IC50 value shows that cassava leaves (Manihot esculenta Crantz) have modest antioxidant lower. Cassava leaves (Manihot esculenta Crantz) have antioxidant activity of 210.33 g/mL so they are included in the weak category in this study.

Abstract

Skabies memberikan masalah kesehatan secara global, karena tercatat sebanyak 200 juta kasus Skabies terjadi setiap tahun di dunia. Organisasi Kesehatan Dunia (WHO) menyatakan Skabies merupakan salah satu dari enam penyakit parasit di kulit yang kasusnya terbesar di dunia. Kebersihan pribadi yang buruk serta kebersihan lingkungan yang kurang membuat tubuh lebih mudah terserang berbagai penyakit kulit dan infeksi. Oleh karena itu, prevalensi skabies cenderung terjadi di lingkungan dengan kepadatan penduduk yang tinggi dan kontak interpersonal yang tinggi. Pencegahan skabies perlu dilakukan, hal yang pertama dilakukan adalah dengan adanya sosialisasi dan pengetahuan Skabies terhadap masyarakat. Tujuan pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah untuk edukasi dan sosialiasi terkait penyakit skabies, penularan, dan pencegahannya. Metode yang dilakukan dengan memberikan kuisioner terhadap responden dengan pretes dan posttes. Analisis data dilakukan dengan uji validitas dan reliabilitas serta dilanjutkan dengan Uji statistik Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test dengan taraf signifikansi sebesar 0,05. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pernyataan data valid dan reliabel serta nilai P-value menunjukkan < 0,05 sehingga H1 dapat diterima, artinya terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan setelah adanya Sosialisasi dan edukasi tentang penyakit skabies dan pencegahannya. Para siswa dianjurkan untuk lebih memperhatikan kebersihan dan kesehatan masing-masing.

Abstract

Limbah Jelantah merupakan limbah yang termasuk ke dalam kelompok Bahan Beracun dan Berbahaya (B3). Pengelolaan limbah jelantah di sekolah sangat penting untuk menciptakan lingkungan yang bersih, sehat, dan berkelanjutan. Pelatihan merupakan langkah yang diambil dengan tujuan untuk meningkatkan pendidikan dan kesadaran siswa di dalam pengelolaan limbah jelantah. Telah dilakukan kegiatan pelatihan meliputi kegiatan daur ulang, pengurangan jelantah, dan perlindungan lingkungan dilakukan oleh 17 siswi Madrasah Aliyah Ma’arif NU Blitar. Hasil kegiatan pelatihan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan secara signifikan   pengetahuan, sikap, dan ketrampilan siswi Madrasah Aliyah Ma’arif NU Blitar di dalam pengelolaan limbah jelantah. Peningkatan rerata skor pengetahuan, sikap dan ketrampilan masing-masing 63,5;17,4; dan 80,8. Hasil akhir rerata skor pelatihan adalah 88,2 dan dikatagorikan baik sekali. Peserta pelatihan 82,4% memberikan pendapat positif berkaitan dengan Pelatihan Pengelolaan Limbah Jelantah yang dilakukan. Umpan balik pelatihan didapatkan oleh sekolah, pengabdi, dan peserta pelatihan.

Abstract

The general public often regards mistletoe as a parasitic plant that can harm other plants. However, some communities aware of its benefits have utilized mistletoe as an alternative treatment for various diseases. Tea mistletoe (Scurrula atropurpurea (Bl.) Dans.) is one type of mistletoe that the community has used to treat various ailments. Based on phytochemical analysis, this plant contains active compounds such as flavonoids, alkaloids, steroids, tannins, saponins, phenolics, and glycosides, which act as antioxidants. Therefore, this study was conducted to provide new information about the potential of tea mistletoe (Scurrula atropurpurea (Bl.) Dans.) leaf extract as a natural antioxidant with low toxicity effects through the DPPH method and to demonstrate the effectiveness of this natural antioxidant in inhibiting free radicals. This research is an experimental laboratory study with a quantitative approach. A series of sample concentrations was prepared, with 0,15 mL of each concentration placed into a 12-well plate and homogenized with 2,85 mL of 0,1 mM DPPH solution. The mixture was incubated for 30 minutes before its absorbance was measured using a UV-Visible Spectrophotometer. The results of this study showed that tea mistletoe (Scurrula atropurpurea (Bl.) Dans.) leaf extract exhibited very strong antioxidant activity, with an IC50 value of 3,32 ppm, comparable to quercetin. Keywords: tea mistletoe, DPPH, antioxidant, extract.

Abstract

Pomegranate is one of the most potential natural resources due to its various compounds, especially in black pomegranate skin. Pomegranate peels are often considered as unusable residue. However, black pomegranate peels have high potential phenolic content and antibacterial properties than other types of pomegranates. This study aims to analyze the total phenolic content and test the antibacterial activity of black pomegranate peel as an antibiotic agent. The method used on the total phenolic content is Folin-Ciocalteau method with UV-VIS Spectrophotometer. Meanwhile, the antibacterial activity test was carried out by the diffusion method with MHA and MHB media against Gram-Positive and Gram-Negative bacteria, namely Eschericia coli and Staphylococcus aureus and positive control using apmhicilin and chloramphenicol. Bacteria were streaked on sterile solid media using sterile cotton buds. The results obtained on the total phenolic content of black pomegranate skin resulted in 90.89 μg GAE/mL sample. Meanwhile, the antibacterial properties obtained the largest diameter of the inhibition zone on Eschericia coli and Staphylococcus aureus respectively, namely 23.4 ± 0.19 and 21.7 ± 0.35 mm. The results showed that black pomegranate peel contributes significantly to environmentally friendly antibacterial properties and can be an innovation in antibiotic development. These findings, open up new opportunities in the formulation of natural antibiotic products that are effective and safe for humans.

Abstract

Badan Usaha Milik Desa (BUMDes) di Desa Ngroto Kecamatan Pujon Kabupaten Malang memiliki peran strategis dalam perekonomian desa yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat melalui pengelolaan sumber daya yang ada secara profesional dan berlandaskan pada prinsip kerakyatan. BUMDes di Desa Ngroto berfungsi sebagai entitas bisnis yang tidak hanya mengelola berbagai potensi ekonomi lokal tetapi juga berperan dalam pemberdayaan masyarakat dan pengembangan infrastruktur desa. Dengan mengedepankan prinsip kerakyatan, BUMDes ini diharapkan mampu memberikan manfaat langsung kepada warga desa melalui peningkatan lapangan kerja, pengelolaan keuangan yang transparan, serta pengembangan usaha-usaha lokal yang dapat mendorong kemandirian ekonomi desa. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengelolaan BUMDes yang ada di Desa Ngroto dengan berfokus pada efektivitasnya dalam menjalankan prinsip kerakyatan dan kontribusinya terhadap peningkatan kesejahteraan masyarakat setempat. Kegiatan penyuluhan dan pelatihan penggunaan website BUMDes di Desa Ngroto berhasil meningkatkan pemahaman dan keterampilan teknis para pengelola BUMDes terkait pentingnya digitalisasi dalam manajemen usaha desa. Dengan adanya kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini, BUMDes mampu menjadi model tujuan untuk pengelolaan bisnis berbasis masyarakat yang berkelanjutan dan dapat menjadi contoh penerapan model bagi desa-desa lain di Kabupaten Malang. Selain itu, BUMDes juga dapat membantu untuk mengembangkan bisnis masyarakat dalam hal teknologi dan informasi.
