Abstract

Abstract

Village Head Election (Pilkades) is a form of local democracy that serves as a forum for community participation in determining leaders at the village level. However, behind this democratic process, social dynamics often emerge that lead to conflict between residents. This study aims to examine the forms, causes, and impacts of social conflict that occurred after the village head election. Using a qualitative-descriptive approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation studies in one of the villages that experienced conflict after the Pilkades. The results of the study show that the conflict was generally triggered by dissatisfaction with the election results, allegations of fraud, and rivalry between groups supporting candidates. This conflict has an impact on disrupting social harmony, decreasing community participation in village activities, and the emergence of social segregation. This study emphasizes the importance of an effective dispute resolution mechanism, the neutrality of the election committee, and the active role of community leaders in reducing potential conflict. These findings are expected to provide input for Pilkades organizers and related parties in creating a peaceful and constructive election process.

Abstract

Abstract

General elections (Pemilu) are a key element in strengthening the foundation of democracy, where voter participation, especially among students, plays a crucial role in shaping the direction of a country's democracy. This research explores the determinant factors influencing the decisions of young voters, particularly students in the Civic Education Program (PPKN) at Universitas Negeri Medan (Unimed) with Stambuk 2023. The primary focus of this study is to understand the motivations and barriers to young voter participation in elections. The research aims to analyze determinant factors in general elections, emphasizing the perspective of PPKN students at Unimed with Stambuk 2023. Through a survey approach and quantitative research design, the study reveals that student voters tend to make decisions based on in-depth understanding, personal beliefs, and active participation in political activities. These findings provide profound insights into the dynamics of student voter preferences and decision-making. Campaign strategies that prioritize effective communication regarding political parties, candidates' track records, visions and missions, work programs, and freedom of expression can enhance the potential for garnering support. Further understanding of personal values and individual experiences is also crucial in designing campaigns that align with the expectations and values of young voters. With this deeper understanding, the research aims to provide a foundation for formulating relevant policy recommendations to increase young voter participation at the university level.

Abstract

Rural areas are defined as rural communities who live at the local level or what is known as a village. The dynamics of political life at the village level are very important to see and observe, because building an independent, advanced country and maintaining national integrity starts from the lowest level, namely the village or rural community. So awareness of the importance of developing rural communities continues until the current government, this is marked by the program run by the Central Government by providing fresh funds every year to villages throughout Indonesia. The village head election system cannot be separated from the dynamics in local political developments at the village level. In the village head election, there was a struggle for power, as is common in every round of Village Head elections in Indonesia. Candidates for village head use various methods in the village head election process in order to win the election and gain power at the lower level. Awareness of the importance of developing rural communities continues until the current government, this is marked by the program run by the Central Government by providing fresh funds every year to villages throughout Indonesia, of course this is an indication of the importance of developing communities at the village level so that they are independent and have higher productivity and will further improve the welfare of society. A village or rural environment (rural area) is a community that is always associated with simplicity, backwardness, traditionalism, subsistence and isolation (Rahardj, 1999)

Abstract

Community perception of the performance of village government in Medan Estate village means that the author focuses the research in this article on looking at the extent of the performance of village government in Medan Estate village. The aim of this research is to determine the performance of village government in Medan Estate village. This type of research is qualitative. Qualitative research methods focus on interviewing other people in external and complex environments. (Moleong, 1999; Creswell, 2002, Lindloft, 1995), states that qualitative research methods are more inductive. This means that the research step that must be prioritized is data based on facts, symptoms, phenomena, reality which is the theme, then processed, processed, so that at the end of the research it can become a proposition, model or even theory. The solution to this problem is that the president must have supervisors in the village government such as the TNI, police and PPKn lecturer experts to select which members of the village apparatus are not suitable for use or use. And this aims to ensure that people who are on the inside route are not worthy of getting a job, must be smart, wise, competent people who are worthy of being village officials. And the results of village government performance are increasingly advanced and evenly distributed.

This study is descriptive in nature and uses qualitative methods. The subjects of the study are the Head of the General Affairs Division, the Head of the Governance Division, two governance officers, and six members of the public who require services.
