Abstract

The magnitude of the rain interception by the canopy is largely determined by vegetation composition and stratification. The kinetic energy of raindrops changes because the role of the vegetation part inhibits the rate of rainwater. This study aims to determine the composition and structure of vegetation in its potency as a parameter of hydrology and soil erosion. This study used a combination method between the pathway and the way the line is laid out on a sample unit which is a 200 m wide line and 20 m wide lane on each right of the river. In that path, the pots are made continuously. The results showed that vegetation composition in upstream sub region of Miu River Basin was higher than the middle and downstream areas of 19-44 species, 13-22 tribes and individual / ha 112-693 (upstream) respectively. 11-20 species, 8-13 tribes and individuals / ha 83-192 (center), 8-15 species, 6-12 tribes and individuals / ha 60-73 (downstream). The potency of vegetation as a hydrological parameter and soil erosion in Miu Sub-District is very high, which is dominated by Ficus spp. (Moraceae) with stratification of 4 levels, namely B, C, D, and E.Keywords: Composition; vegetation; watershedBesarnya intersepsi hujan oleh tajuk sangat ditentukan oleh komposisi dan stratifikasi vegetasi. Abstract

Tree architecture models and the composition of vegetation types affected surface runoff and erosion rates due to vegetation density and various other morphological and ecological characteristic components. This research purpose was to measure and compare the level of erosion in 3 tree architectural models. The research used the path plots method. The sample pathway was made by cut off contour lines. To measure the erosion rate that occured at the tree architecture model, erosion measuring plots were used in three tree architecture models, namely Attims (Eucalyptus deglupta), Corner (Arenga pinnata), and Rauh (Arthocarpus teysmanii). The results showed that the dominant tree architecture model was the Rauh, Attims, and Corner models. The erosion level which occurred in the three tree architectural models showed that the Attims Eucalyptus deglupta model and Corner Arenga pinnata models were more effective in controlling erosion by 233.55 g/ha/year and 293.10 g/ha/year with rainfall of 493.55 mm compared to Rauh Arthocarpus teysmanii type. The correlation analysis between rainfall and the erosion rate at the three tree architecture models were 80% (very strong) for Attims model, 89% (very strong) for Corner model and 90% (very strong) for Rauh model. To control the erosion the Attims and Corner models are highly recommended as alternatives for rehabilitating the critical land.

Abstract

Abstract. The sustainable management of the Miu watershed Basin is something that needs to be considered in line with the increasing complexity of environmental sustainability challenges and current water availability, not limited to maintaining the flow of water but need to pay attention to the balance of the ecosystem. Ecosystem conditions that are maintained influence high water absorption capacity, thereby reducing surface water runoff.. This research was conducted in the Miu watershed Basin with the aim of identifying the potential for water absorption, the method used in this study was a scoring method with four parameters, namely soil type, slope, rainfall, and land use. Data analysis was carried out using a Geographic Information System (GIS) approach. The results showed that the water absorption conditions in the Miu watershed Basin were classified as good (8.29%), normal good (73.91%), starting to be critical (14.51%), moderately critical (3.29%), and critical ( 0.00%).

Abstract

Critical land currently refers to a number of areas that are significantly unproductive as a result of inadequate management and utilization of soil and water conservation requirements. Critical land is land inside and outside the forest area that has declined in function. Das is a land area bounded by mountain ridges topographically, which functions as a natural reservoir to collect and store rainwater. To identify critical land, weighting and scoring were carried out on several critical land parameters including land cover, slope, and erosion hazard level, which were then overlaid and produced a critical land map. From this research, it was found that Wimbi Sub Das has a distribution of critical land dominated by not critical with an area of 129 ha or with a percentage of 7.12%, potentially critical with an area of 628 ha or with a percentage of 34. 64%, critical with an area of 821 ha or with a percentage of 42.28%, critical with an area of 221 ha or 12.19%, and very critical with an area of 14 ha or 0.77%, Based on the table overlay results show that Sub Das Wimbi is dominated by the level of criticality of the land category with an area of 821 ha which on a global scale has reached an alarming value. So it can be concluded that Wimbi Sub Das shows a rather critical potential, where land with a rather critical potential has an area of 821 ha.

Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the biomass and carbon reserves of candlenut stands (Aleurites moluccana Willd), determine the effect of stand age on increasing biomass and carbon reserves, see the level of soil health and determine the relationship between stands. This type of research is descriptive which was carried out through surveys and data analysis using SPSS. The research results show that stand age has a positive effect on the amount of biomass and carbon stock produced. In 6 year old stands the average biomass = 12.23 tonnes/ha, and carbon 5.72 tonnes/ha, in 10 year old stands the average biomass = 23.23 tonnes/ha and carbon 10.87 tonnes/ha, 15 year old stands had an average biomass = 35.07 tons/ha and carbon 16.45 tons/ha. The correlation between age and biomass obtained by the equation The higher the age, the larger the stand diameter so that more biomass and carbon are produced. In addition, the high content of c-organics in the soil can maintain soil health levels.
