The subjects in this study were 38 student of 1st grade of SDN Sampangan 01 as an experiment class and 34 student of 1st grade of SDN Bendan Ngisor as an control class. The experimental design in this research was quasi-experimental design with nonequivalent control group design. The results of the research on vocabulary mastery in the experimental class obtained n-gain of 0.54 in moderate category, while in the control class obtained n-gain of 0.03 in low category. Furthermore, the results of the research on initial writing skills of the experimental class obtained n-gain of 0.35 in moderate category, while the control class obtained n-gain of 0.11 in low category. Thus, it can be concluded that the using of pictorial crossword puzzle media affect to vocabulary mastery and initial writing skills. From these results, it is suggest to teachers to use pictorial crossword puzzles media in learning process in order to enhance vocabulary mastery and initial writing skills.

Abstract

Emotional social skills need to be owned by early childhood so that it is easy for there to socialize with friends. The purpose of this study is to describe a cooperative learning model for early childhood, describing cooperative learning model design assisted by lotto educational media to improve social-emotional early childhood and describe the final model of the effectiveness of cooperative learning development models assisted by lotto educational media to improve social-emotional early childhood. The research method used is research and development research. Data analysis techniques using paired sample t-test and independent sample t-test. The research subjects were teachers, and kindergarten students aged 5-6 years. The instrument is based on the level of achievement of social emotional development in early childhood. The results of the observations show that when learning in the classroom, teachers still rarely apply cooperative-based learning that can improve socialization activities among students. The results of this model are useful and practical for improving social-emotional early childhood. The children's social-emotional improvement in the experimental class and the social-emotional average of the experimental class children were better than the control class. The benefits of this study can add information and knowledge to the broader community and early childhood about cooperative learning models assisted by lotto educational media to improve social-emotional early childhood.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the differences in independence and confidence character of preschool children (4-5 years) based on parenting style. This study used a quantitative approach. The population of this study was the parents of 4-5-year-old children of Early Childhood Education Programs (PAUD) Gugus Nusa Indah Candisari Sub-district Semarang. The sampling technique used proportionate stratified random sampling, and the calculation of sampling amount used Slovin's Formula to collect 112 respondents. The data collecting method used a questionnaire with a Likert scale as the measurement scale. The data analysis technique used ANOVA test to analyze the difference between independence and confidence based on parenting style. The results of the study showed that from the ANOVA test, the probability value (pvalue = 0.000). Thus, it was found that there was a difference in pre-school (4-5 years old) children’s independence and confidence level based on the parenting style. There was a difference in children’s independence level based on the parenting style, the comparison of independence scale and parenting style was found that the value of the mean difference (MD) = 12.16 with the significance level of 0.000 < 0.05. There was a difference in children’s confidence level based on the parenting style, the comparison of independence scale and parenting style was found that the value of the mean difference (MD) = 18.5 with the significance level of 0.000 < 0.05. The conclusion of this study is that there was a positive and significant difference in children’s independence level based on the parenting style. There was a positive and significant difference in children’s confidence level based on the parenting style.

Abstract

This research aims to find out differences of critical thinking skill and learning achievement among students taught by using mind mapping activitis. This quasi experimental research used non-equivalent control group design. The sample consisted of 50 students from 2 Primary Schools in Jati, Kudus district. Experimental class with 25 students were implementation problem based learning with mind mapping and Control class with 25 students used conventional learning with mind mapping. The data collection used was performance test. The techniques of analysing data were requirement using variance and N-gain tests. The findings showed that problem based learning model and mind mapping activities could improve critical thinking skill and learning achievement of student. The critical thinking skills in problem based learning classs obtained better than that of the convention class as well as than learning achievements. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that problem based learning model by using mind mapping could improve critical thinking skill and social study learning achievement of student.

Abstract

The low student learning outcomes usually due to learning process which have not used a variety of models and emphasizesmemorization learning. Media is used to create interesting learning so that students canbe active in learning activities. The objective of this research was to determine the effect of multimedia-assisted quantum learning models on science learning outcomes in elementary school students. This type of research was a Quasi Experimental with pretest-posttest control group design. The samples of this research were 28 students of grade IV students of SDN Ngesrep 02 and 27 students of grade IV of SDN Ngesrep 03. Instruments used in this researchwere observation sheets and tests. Data analysis techniques include normality test, homogeneity test, n-gain score test and t-test. The results show that the average score of learning outcomes in the experimental class was 76.85 and the control class was 73.39. The independent test results state that there are differences between the experimental class and the control class, indicated by tcount>ttable of the significant value of 0.024 <0.05. It can be concluded that there was a significant influence in learning using multimedia-assisted quantum learning models towards student learning outcomes.

Abstract

Science is one of the most important subjects at every level of education. Based on initial observations at SD N Kandang Panjang 02 Pekalongan through interviews with science teachers, information was obtained that learning has not yet led to fostering student independence. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of learning video-assisted discovery learning on learning outcomes and student independence. This study uses a true experimental design research model in the form of pretest - posttest control group design. The Effectiveness of the Learning Video Assisted Discovery Learning Model on Science Learning Outcomes and Independent Characters of Grade V Elementary School Students. The research sample was a fifth-grade student, consisting of an experimental class and a control class with a total of 28 students in each class. The research hypotheses were tested using two-tailed t-test analysis. The results showed that the control class only got an average score of 30,93 while the experimental class only got an average score of 30,68. This means that the pretest scores of the control class and the experimental class have not yet reached the minimum completeness criteria. After teaching and learning activities were conducted using the discovery learning model assisted by learning video, the control class has obtained an average score of 76,46 and the experimental class has obtained an average score of 85,04. The student learning outcomes enhancement is shown by the normalized N-gain score of the experimental class students of 0,913 and the control class students of 0,838 that included in the high criteria. The percentage of discovery learning models assisted by Interactive Learning Videos, directing students to be more active and fun so they can build their knowledge. This research concludes that learning with discovery learning models assisted by interactive learning.
