Abstract

The economic development of a country is often measured by economic growth, which is an indicator of the success of development. National development aims to improve the welfare of society, which can be achieved through economic growth. Social and economic factors are interrelated, with the position of individuals in society being influenced by economic factors, education level, and income. Modes of transportation, such as asphalt roads, play an essential role in the economic development of society by increasing accessibility. In 2015, the Namtabung village government collaborated with the provincial government to build an asphalt road, which has since improved connectivity between villages, reduced economic limitations and accelerated the growth of the village economy. This study carries a qualitative method with a descriptive approach, involving interviews and observations as the primary data sources. Researchers are actively involved in the events or situations being studied, creating a deep understanding. Descriptive qualitative research methods investigate research objects in a natural context or actual situation without experimental manipulation. The population consists of 15 members of the Namtabung village community who have or do not have a mode of transportation. The sample was selected by simple random sampling, taking five people from 3 RTs to get 15 community samples. This approach allows researchers to gain in-depth insight into the impact of transportation modes on the daily lives of the Namtabung village community. The construction of asphalt roads and transportation modes in Namtabung Village has positively impacted social and economic aspects. Education, health, housing, and community income have increased significantly. The agricultural and fisheries sectors have also developed with adequate transportation, even to neighboring villages. Land transportation facilitates the sale of products, improves mobility, and supports access to education and health services.

Abstract

Waeeken Village in South Buru Regency faces challenges in meeting clean water needs. Although groundwater sources are a priority due to their superior quality and lower pollution impacts, accessibility, and geographical limitations are obstacles. In the dry season, people depend on clean water from rock sources, although they are difficult to reach. Research findings show that there is a high water need per family, that it exceeds 120 liters per day, and that there is a dependence on water sources with limitations. Although there are efforts to use rainwater, difficulties remain due to the distance that must be traveled. The study "Clean Water Needs and Fulfillment in Households in Waeeken Village" reflects an awareness of the complexity of water needs and the challenges of its availability to understand these dynamics in the geographical context and needs of the local community. The study was conducted in Waeeken Village, South Buru Regency. The type of research is descriptive and auditive research, which aims to describe or depict the facts of clean water, the availability of clean water, and the fulfillment of clean water or conditions or symptoms that appear in Waieeken Village, Fena-Fafan District, South Buru Regency. The research variables are Clean Water Needs and Fulfillment for Households, which are the indicators of clean water sources, clean water needs, and fulfillment. The availability of clean water to meet family needs in Waeeken Village, South Buru Regency, based on study findings and analysis, can be characterized as follows: This condition occurs due to the lack of rainfall and adequate air protection infrastructure, which causes the current supply of pure water to be below the desired standard. The impact of this situation is very significant for community welfare, primarily related to the availability of clean water for household needs and the need for clean water per liter per day in Waeeken Village, South Buru Regency.

Abstract

Household waste or garbage comes from daily household activities that do not include feces or specific waste. Household waste can affect environmental pollution through decreased water quality, which will affect the level of health of others. On that basis, the author conducted a study to determine the Impact of Household Waste on Environmental Pollution in Negeri Passo, Baguala District, Ambon City. In this study, using the Qualitative Descriptive Research Type, the data collection techniques are observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques researchers obtain data from the field, which are analyzed according to the categories of data collected, namely observation/observation, interviews, and questionnaires. The results of this study indicate that the impact of the waste significantly affects the poor air quality near the waste, which can hurt the surrounding community by creating an unpleasant odor and creating many flies in the area, especially during the rainy season. Meanwhile, based on the results of laboratory tests to determine water quality, it was found that the results of the three water sources tested had very high E-coli. The furthest source (A) was 2.0, the slightly closest source (B) was 6.8, and the closest source (C) was 12.

Abstract

The opening of settlements in the Mount Nona protected forest area is influenced by driving factors such as increasing population, housing needs, poverty and the economy, accessibility and infrastructure, government policies, lack of environmental awareness, land conflicts, and disputes. This research aims to identify the driving factors for opening settlements and determine the ecological impact on the Gunung Nona protected forest area, Nusaniwe District, Ambon City. The type of research used for this research is the combination type; the combination type is a type of research that uses more than one type of research, namely quantitative research and qualitative research. The mixed methods approach combines quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews with a sample of the community (consisting of 50 respondents). The research results show that several factors driving the opening of settlements in the Mount Nona protected forest area influence the environmental awareness factor based on the data testing results using the SPSS application. Apart from that, based on the results of interviews with the Nahel Gunung Nona Hamlet Government, the opening of settlements in the Gunung Nona protected forest area began with the diversion of displaced people from clove and red stone plantations to the city, precisely in Wainitu, because there was no more empty land to the town of Ambon, during riots. So, in this case, the Ambon city government approached the Amahusu State government and the Urimesing State government to provide land to accommodate refugees at that time. However, after the riots ended, the population became denser, so the Amahusu State government gave use rights, namely certificates, for people to build houses and live on Mount Miss; in this case, there is a protected forest area. Settlements in the Mount Nona protected forest area are increasingly growing due to the increase in population from refugee camps.

Abstract

The water quality in Batu Merah, Sirimau District, Ambon City, which is dominated by hilly and mountainous topography, remains a significant concern. The local community largely relies on borewell water to meet their clean water needs, but their understanding of the water quality is still limited. This descriptive qualitative study involved collecting water samples from the field, which were then analyzed in a laboratory to evaluate physical, chemical, and biological parameters. The results showed that the borewell water quality does not fully meet the required standards. In borewell sample 1, the manganese levels exceeded the permitted maximum, while borewell sample 2 revealed a total coliform count of 1600, and sample 3 recorded a total coliform count of 70, both exceeding the allowable limit of 50 per 100 ml. Therefore, the borewell water in this area has not yet fully met the clean water quality standards as outlined in the Ministry of Health Regulation No. 20 of 2023 and Ministry of Health Regulation No. 416/Menkes/Per/IX/199, particularly regarding chemical and biological parameters.
