Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to explore the dynamics of interpersonal communication within peer groups and the meaning of communication experiences among elementary school students. The research problem emerged from preliminary observations and interviews indicating dominance in group discussions, unequal participation, and conflicts arising from verbal and nonverbal misunderstandings in the school environment. This study employed a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design. The participants consisted of nine respondents: four students, four parents, and one homeroom teacher at SDIT Plus Usman Bin Ali Medan. Data were collected through observations and in-depth interviews and analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, supported by triangulation to ensure credibility. The findings reveal that students’ interpersonal communication manifests in cooperative, competitive, and conflictual patterns. Children interpret communication as experiences of acceptance or rejection, which influence their self-confidence and social relationships. The main themes identified include openness, empathy, supportiveness, equality, and conflict management. The study implies that schools should strengthen communication and socio-emotional skill development programs to foster a supportive and psychologically safe interaction environment.

Abstract

Adolescence is a developmental stage characterized by significant biological, cognitive, and socio-emotional changes that require effective emotion regulation. This study aimed to examine the effect of self-disclosure on emotion regulation among high school students, with family support as a mediating variable. A quantitative approach was used with a population of 632 students and a sample of 200 respondents selected through random sampling. Data were collected using Likert-scale questionnaires, including the Revised Self-Disclosure Scale, the Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (Gross & John, 2003), and the Family Support Scale. Data analysis was conducted using SEM-PLS with JASP 0.19.3.0. The results showed that several self-disclosure dimensions significantly influenced emotion regulation. Intended disclosure (Beta = 0.190; p = 0.007), honesty-accuracy (Beta = 0.144; p = 0.040), and control of general depth (Beta = 0.170; p = 0.020) had a positive effect on cognitive reappraisal. The amount factor (Beta = 0.281; p < 0.001), honesty-accuracy (Beta = 0.150; p = 0.030), and control of general depth (Beta = 0.206; p = 0.004) significantly affected expressive suppression. Overall, self-disclosure contributed more consistently to emotion regulation and perceived family support than the direct effect of family support on emotion regulation. These findings highlight the importance of self-disclosure and supportive family environments in improving students’ emotion regulation abilities.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of self-efficacy on work engagement with psychological well-being as a mediator in working students. The research sample was 216 students who were attending college at night and working full time, selected using purposive sampling technique. Data collection was carried out through a scale of self-efficacy, psychological well-being, and work engagement. The analysis used Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) method with SmartPLS software. The results showed that self-efficacy has a positive and significant effect on work engagement by 19% and on psychological well-being by 25%. Psychological well-being also positively and significantly affects work engagement by 44.3%. Additionally, psychological well-being mediates the relationship between self-efficacy and work engagement by 11.1%. Psychological well-being is proven to mediate the relationship between self-efficacy and work engagement. This shows that students with high levels of self-efficacy tend to have good psychological well-being, which in turn increases their work engagement. The practical implication of this research is the importance of increasing self-efficacy and psychological well-being to increase work engagement, especially in student workers. Educational institutions and companies are expected to design training programs that support the development of self-efficacy and psychological well-being of employees.

Abstract

This study analyzes the mediating role of religiosity in the relationship between emotional intelligence and bullying among students at MTsS Ummi Lubuk Pakam. Employing structural equation modeling-partial least squares (SEM-PLS) with SmartPLS software, the results indicate that emotional intelligence has a significant negative effect on bullying (T-statistic = 8.191; p-value = 0.000) and a significant positive effect on religiosity (T-statistic = 6.944; p-value = 0.000). Furthermore, religiosity was found to have a significant negative effect on bullying (T-statistic = 5.576; p-value = 0.000). Mediation analysis confirmed that religiosity significantly mediates the relationship between emotional intelligence and bullying (T-statistic = 4.314; p-value = 0.000). It implies that emotional intelligence reduces bullying not only directly but also indirectly by fostering increased religiosity. This research highlights the importance of developing emotional intelligence and nurturing religiosity as effective strategies for bullying prevention in schools.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the direct impact of job satisfaction on individual work performance, as well as the indirect influence mediated by work-life balance. The data were collected using instruments designed to assess job satisfaction and work-life balance, while work performance data were obtained from relevant institutions. The sample was obtained through convenience sampling, yielding a total of 78 employees. The findings of this study demonstrate both direct and indirect effects of job satisfaction on work performance, although the mediator work-life balance did not exert a greater effect than job satisfaction. This study contributes to the organizational and industrial context, demonstrating that job satisfaction is a key issue that needs improvement, rather than work-life balance, which is an external issue within the organizational and industrial context. Unlike previous research that demonstrated that work-life balance plays a significant role in one's work performance, this study demonstrates that job satisfaction is far more effective in improving work performance. Limitations and recommendations are explained further in this article.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of work-life balance on work engagement, with perceived organizational support as a moderating variable. This research is motivated by inconsistent findings in previous studies regarding the relationship between work-life balance and work engagement, as well as the limited exploration of perceived organizational support as a moderating factor. A quantitative explanatory approach was employed using total sampling of 179 employees at PT X in Mandailing Natal Regency. Data were collected using the Work-Life Balance Scale (17 items), Perceived Organizational Support Scale (16 items), and Work Engagement Scale (19 items). Data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS 4. The results indicate that work-life balance has a positive and significant effect on work engagement (β = 0.395; p < 0.05), and perceived organizational support also has a positive and significant effect on work engagement (β = 0.255; p < 0.05). Furthermore, perceived organizational support significantly strengthens the relationship between work-life balance and work engagement (β = 0.656; p < 0.05). The model explains 60% of the variance in work engagement. These findings emphasize the critical role of organizational support in enhancing the effectiveness of work-life balance in fostering employee engagement. Pengumpulan data dilakukan menggunakan skala Work-Life Balance (17 item), Perceived Organizational Support (16 item), dan Work Engagement (19 item). Selain itu, perceived organizational support terbukti memperkuat pengaruh work-life balance terhadap work engagement (β = 0,656; p < 0,05). Model penelitian mampu menjelaskan 60% variasi work engagement. Temuan ini menegaskan pentingnya peran dukungan organisasi dalam mengoptimalkan pengaruh work-life balance terhadap keterikatan kerja karyawan.
