Abstract

Objective This study investigates the impact of green human capital, green structural capital, and green relational capital, all components of green intellectual capital, on sustainability performance. Furthermore, this study considers environmental leadership a moderating component in this test.Design/Methodology This study employs primary data in the form of a questionnaire survey to research respondents, namely the top-level managers of a company. The final questionnaire used in the research was derived from 141 respondents. The data analysis test in this study uses a structural equation model. Results This study concludes that green human capital and green structural capital positively affect sustainability performance, while green relational capital does not affect sustainability performance. Environmental leadership does not strengthen the positive influence of green human capital on sustainability performance and the positive impact of green relational capital on sustainability performance. However, the interaction of environmental leadership and green relational capital has a negative effect on sustainability performance. Furthermore, environmental leadership strengthens the positive effect of green structural capital on sustainability performance.Research limitations/implications One disadvantage of this study is that most respondents came from the banking industry. As a result, the results remain narrowly focused on that industry and do not adequately reflect the organization's state. To provide more precise research results, future studies can assess sustainability performance utilizing respondents from various industries.Novelty/Originality This work in sustainable accounting has developed a rarely explored literature on utilizing green intellectual capital. Furthermore, by gathering data from a growing economy, our analysis adds to the body of information on references on long-term company performance. Furthermore, by evaluating the features of Indonesian firms, our research can be used to help design government policies governing the implementation of sustainability in the business sector.

Abstract

Abstract

This study analysed the role of the audit committee as a moderating variable on the relationship between board structure and real earnings management, with profitability as a control variable. Findings indicate that a larger board size enhances oversight through diverse expertise, enabling stronger monitoring of managerial actions and reducing earnings manipulation. Board independence also supports transparency and accountability, aligning with Indonesia’s Financial Services Authority regulations. Moderated by Return on Assets (ROA), both board size and independence significantly impact real earnings management. Larger boards effectively limit manipulation in profitable firms, while high ROA strengthens the oversight of independent directors, further curbing manipulative practices. This combination of board characteristics and profitability contributes to a governance framework that supports ethical financial practices, aligned with agency theory to protect shareholder value and reduce agency costs. Future research could incorporate additional moderating variables, such as managerial leadership and dividend policy, or proxies from corporate governance indices, as well as explore board and gender diversity within board structure to further examine its influence on real earnings management.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of the Sharia Supervisory Board (DPS) in the governance of Islamic banks in Indonesia, with a focus on the supervision of sharia compliance and its influence on financial performance. The method used is scoping review, by collecting and analyzing 33 relevant articles that discuss the functions and challenges of DPS. The results of the study show that DPS has a central role in ensuring compliance with sharia principles and contributing positively to the financial performance of Islamic banks. The competence of DPS members, including the size and frequency of meetings, has been proven to affect the effectiveness of supervision. Nonetheless, DPS face challenges, such as a lack of qualified human resources and adequate education, which can reduce the effectiveness of their supervision. The study also found that DPS functions as a moderator in the relationship between the board of directors and bank performance, strengthening Good Corporate Governance (GCG) in Islamic banks. Thus, it is important for the Financial Services Authority (OJK) to improve the competence of DPS through stricter training programs and regulations. This research provides significant insights for policy development in the Islamic banking sector, with the hope of improving the credibility and performance of Islamic banks in Indonesia

Abstract

Purpose: This study analyzes the impact of employee competency, budget planning, and enterprise resource planning (ERP)-based information systems on the performance of budget implementation in state financial management. Method: A quantitative approach was used, with data collected via a survey questionnaire distributed in December 2023. The questionnaire used a Likert scale ranging from 1 to 6. Respondents were selected through purposive sampling, targeting officials or staff managing state finances in the Working Unit of the Bureau for General Affairs and Procurement Goods/Service of the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries of Indonesia. The final sample consisted of 32 observations and was analyzed using SmartPLS 3.0. Results: The study found that Employee competency positively impacts budget implementation performance in state financial management. However, budget planning and ERP-based information systems did not significantly influence budget implementation performance. Limitations: The sample size of the study was limited because of the limited time for data collection. Furthermore, the study focused solely on officials responsible for managing state finances, excluding Budget Planners and Procurement Officers, who also played a vital role in the budget process.   Contribution: This study provides valuable insights for future studies and serves as a reference for improving government performance. It also offers practical recommendations for decision makers. Novelty: This study introduces new indicators based on current regulations, focusing on ERP-based systems in Indonesia's public sector. The SAKTI system, an ERP-based budget implementation tool, was fully implemented across all Ministries/Agencies in Indonesia by 2022, making this study particularly timely.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the increasing misuse of School Operational Assistance (BOS) funds and evaluate the role of the Government's Internal Supervisory Apparatus (APIP) in its oversight. The main focus of this research is to identify solutions to improve the supervisory system so that BOS funds can be managed accountably and effectively. This study uses a qualitative approach with a literature review method. Data were collected from various sources, such as academic journals, oversight reports, and government regulations related to BOS fund management. The analysis was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of APIP’s supervision and identify obstacles faced in managing BOS funds at the school level. The results show that APIP’s oversight of BOS funds has not been effective, as indicated by the increasing number of misuse cases. Factors such as limited human resources, poor internet access, and high workloads are major challenges. The synergy between central and regional APIP, the development of an information technology-based supervision system, and the strengthening of oversight culture are needed to address these issues. This research contributes to providing practical recommendations for enhancing the supervision of BOS funds through better collaboration between APIP, the Education Office, and schools. Additionally, this study offers ideas for developing an internet-based management system to improve the accountability and transparency of BOS fund management.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of carbon disclosure on firm value with institutional ownership as a moderator in energy sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during 2019-2022. Carbon disclosure is measured using the disclosure scale developed by Bae Choi et al. (2013a), the percentage of institutional ownership in the company to calculate institutional ownership, and Tobin's Q to calculate firm value. This study uses data from energy sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange for the observation period of 2019-2022, with a total of 80 observations through purposive sampling. The results show that carbon disclosure has a negative effect on firm value. However, institutional ownership weakens the negative influence of carbon disclosure on firm value. The results of this study can provide insights into the factors that can increase firm value for investors. This study is expected to provide a perspective for investors to make investment decisions in the capital market by looking at information related to carbon disclosure conducted by companies.

Abstract

Good financial management is a key factor in supporting the development of Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) as drivers of the village economy. This study aims to identify and analyze the impact of financial management on the development of BUMDes businesses in Pacitan Regency, with a focus on advanced BUMDes categories. Effective financial management is believed to be able to increase the transparency, accountability, and competitiveness of BUMDes amid market dynamics. The research method used is a qualitative approach, with in-depth interviews involving four informants, namely two BUMDes Directors, one representative of the Community and Village Empowerment Service of Pacitan Regency, and one Community Empowerment Expert. This study explores financial management practices, challenges faced, and business development strategies implemented by advanced BUMDes. The results of the study indicate that good financial management, including the application of accounting technology, plays an important role in increasing efficiency and transparency. However, there are still challenges in long-term planning and limited access to capital due to strict regulations. This study concludes that BUMDes that can implement effective financial management have a greater opportunity to develop their business. This study indicates that the Pacitan District Government needs to strengthen advanced training programs, technical assistance, and policies that support easy access to capital for advanced BUMDes so that they can continue to develop and contribute more to the village economy

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of tax avoidance on the quality of financial reporting using leverage as a moderating variable. In this study, the quality of financial reporting, as the dependent variable, uses the Beneish M-Score, and tax avoidance, as the independent variable, uses the effective tax rate (ETR). The sample of this study uses manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2021-2023. Using purposive sampling, this study uses 19 companies with 57 observations. This study uses a quantitative approach with multiple linear regression analysis for panel data. The results show that tax avoidance positively affects financial reporting quality, and leverage weakens the positive effect of tax avoidance on the quality of financial reporting. This study recommends that accounting standard setters create standards that can prevent the practice of manipulating financial statements.

Abstract

This study examines whether capital structure and firm size affect sustainability disclosure. In addition, this study also examines the moderating role of independent commissioners in the relationship between the independent and dependent variables. This study employs data from financial statements, annual reports, and sustainability reports of consumer goods industry companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2017 to 2020. The data sources are derived from www.idx.co.id and www.idnfinancial.com and the company's official website. Based on purposive sampling, the total sample used in this study is 148 observations. Hypothesis testing is done by using multiple linear analyses for panel data. The results suggest that capital structure is not associated with sustainability disclosure, while firm size is positively associated with sustainability disclosure. This study also finds that independent commissioners fail to weaken the negative effect of capital structure on sustainability disclosure nor the positive effect of firm size and sustainability disclosure. This study has complemented the literature on the importance of sustainability disclosure as nonfinancial disclosure in the financial accounting research context.
