Abstract

Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk menemukan hibriditas budaya pada nyanyian rakyat Lancang Kocik di tengah-tengah masyarakat suku Sakai di Desa Petani, Kabupaten Bengkalis, Provinsi Riau. Analisis pada tulisan ini dilakukan dengan cara deskriptif dengan menjadikan teks nyanyian rakyat Lancang Kocik sebagai objek kajian serta mengamati konteks yang membangun setiap elemen budaya masyarakat pemilik nyanyian rakyat ini. Metode penelitian dilakukan dengan cara menentukan dan mengobservasi Desa Petani sebagai latar nyanyian rakyat Lancang Kocik, selanjutnya melakukan wawancara mendalam kepada narasumber, serta mengumpulkan data, lalu mengolahnya, sehingga dihasilkan kesimpulan bahwa hibriditas dalam nyanyian rakyat Lancang Kocik telah menghasilkan makna dan identitas baru.

Abstract

Artikel ini membahas “jejak” ekologi dalam Nyanyian Rakyat Lancang Kocik (NRLK) suku Sakai di Desa Petani Kabupaten Bengkalis sebagai sebuah penuturan sastra lisan. NRLK ditinjau dari aspek teks dan konteksnya memiliki persoalan-persoalan yang berkenaan dengan ekologi.  Tujuan dari kajian Artikel ini untuk menguraikan representasi alam, representasi penutur, mengungkap tanda-tanda alegori, tanda-tanda komunikasi ironis, serta melihat pesan moral dalam NRLK sehingga dihasilkan makna mendalam mengenai ekologi. Metode yang dilakukan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data secara observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi melalui teori hipersemiotika Yasraf Amir Piliang. Kajian ini menjadi sarana untuk mewujudkan kelestarian ekologi melalui sastra lisan milik suku Sakai .

Abstract

Abstract. This article analyzes the consequences of consumerism in American society as portrayed in Chuck Palahniuk’s novel Fight Club. This article aims to examine the portrayal of consumerism in the novel and its consequences in the context of American society. We use one of the Marxist critical theories of consumerism proposed by Theodor Adorno and Max Horkheimer. The analysis method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive method using Chuck Palahniuk’s novel Fight Club as the primary data source and other data sourced from some applicable sources were used as the secondary data to support the analysis. The article delineates three consequences of consumerism in the novel that portray the American society from the 1950s until the 1990s. The consequences include the standardization, pseudo-individuality, and commodity fetishism. They are mainly caused by the growth of consumerism since the end of World War II.Keywords: American society, consequences of consumerism, Fight Club,  literary portrayal

Abstract

Morinda citrifolia L., commonly known as the Noni plant, is a plants from the Rubiaceae family that can be found in Indonesia has various benefits. Traditionally, noni is often used as a cough medicine, flu, pain, hypertension, malaria, anthelmintic, and diarrhea. The purpose of this study is to isolate and characterize triterpenoid compounds from ethyl acetate extract of noni leaves. The isolation process was carried out by liquid vacuum chromatography and column chromatography. The compound was obtained in the form of white solids as much as 0,0038 g with a melting point of 233 – 235 oC. This compound identified on the TLC plate using the Liebermann-Burchard (LB) reagent which produced a single purple spot. The results of UV spectrophotometry characterization obtained a spectrum with λmax = 292 nm, indicating an n→π* electron transition. The IR spectrum shows the presence of the O-H functional group at a wavelength of 3853,94 cm-1, 3742,55 cm-1 and 3613,18 cm-1. the C-H functional group at wave number 2922,32 cm-1, the C=O functional group at wave number 1690,13 cm-1 and the C-O group at wave numbers 1033,12 cm-1. The absorption of the geminal dimethyl group, which is characteristic of triterpenoid compounds at 1454,77cm-1 dan 1376,97 cm-1.

Abstract

Kedondong (Spondias dulcis Parkinson) merupakan tanaman tropis yang tersebar luas di Asia Tenggara dan telah lama dimanfaatkan secara tradisional untuk mengatasi infeksi kulit, batuk, demam, serta nyeri tenggorokan, juga sering dikonsumsi sebagai sayuran. Daunnya diketahui mengandung berbagai senyawa bioaktif seperti flavonoid, tanin, fenolik, saponin, triterpenoid, dan vitamin C yang berperan sebagai antioksidan alami dalam menetralisir radikal bebas, termasuk ROS dan RNS, pemicu stres oksidatif dan kerusakan seluler. Penelitian ini menganalisis total senyawa fenolik dan aktivitas antioksidan dari ekstrak metanol daun kedondong secara in vitro. Penentuan kandungan fenolik total dilakukan dengan metode Folin-Ciocalteu, sedangkan evaluasi kapasitas antioksidan menggunakan uji ABTS. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak metanol daun kedondong memiliki kandungan fenolik total sebesar 54.691 mg GAE/g serta potensi aktivitas antioksidan tinggi dengan nilai IC₅₀ sebesar 16.05 µg/mL. Menurut klasifikasi aktivitas antioksidan oleh Ranggaini et al. (2024), antioksidan dikategorikan sangat kuat jika nilai IC₅₀ < 50 µg/mL, kuat 50–100 µg/mL, sedang 101–150 µg/mL, dan lemah >150 µg/mL. Dengan nilai IC₅₀ sebesar 16.05 µg/mL dan kandungan fenolik yang tinggi, ekstrak metanol daun kedondong menunjukkan aktivitas antioksidan sangat kuat serta berpotensi dikembangkan sebagai sumber antioksidan alami untuk perlindungan terhadap kerusakan akibat radikal bebas.

Abstract

Intangible heritage, such as folklore, plays a crucial role in preserving cultural values and traditions. Regular efforts are needed to ensure these stories, and their embedded values are passed down through generations. Many ways can be conducted, including socialization and implementation of character education values. This article aims to socialize and implement the character education values contained in folklore. This community service program is an attempt to preserve and pass down the character education values contained in the legend "Malin Kundang," a well-known legend about a son's disobedience to his mother and cursed to be a stone, to many segments of people, especially youngsters in West Sumatra and its surroundings. Unversitas Andalas lecturers and students in Sumatra Barat, Sumatra Selatan, Bengkulu, and Riau conducted the program. We collected data regarding people's knowledge of "Malin Kundang," its educational values, and the methods of sustaining the values for the next generation. The results show that 65 out of 79 (82%) respondents understand the legend "Malin Kundang." Sixty-seven (85%) respondents agree that religious, moral, and social values such as courtesy, respect for others, obedience to parents, hard work, abstinence, and remembrance of origin are values to be passed on to others. While 'Malin Kundang' is widely known, continuous efforts are needed to instill its values in the younger generation. Utilizing modern techniques such as IT and media can enhance the preservation and dissemination of these cultural values.

Abstract

The socialization of Indonesian history to the students of the elementary schools in Pesisir Selatan Regency was aimed at providing an introduction to the country's history to such students, from the period of colonization to the time of Indonesian independence. The activity's implementation method includes modeling stories, quizzes, and posters through an ethical and aesthetic approach. The target of this activity was the students of Elementary School 39 Pasar Gompong and those of Elementary School 18 Tebing Tinggi, Nagari Kambang Barat, Lengayang, Pesisir Selatan, Sumatra Barat. This introduction to the history of Indonesia is essential, considering that elementary school students are generations of successors who should know their people's history. The implementation consists of three phases: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The phase one was an approach to the partner school. The phase two was implementing activities in both schools by presenting Indonesian history material in classes 4 and 6. The last phase was an evaluation which was conducted along the socialization. Through the activities, the students were enthusiastic about taking part in historical introduction activities, starting with introduction implementation and ending with evaluation. The results of this activity showed that the students were able to understand the development of Indonesian nation through Indonesia's history, especially the struggle of Indonesian national heroes.

Abstract

Globalization has made migration a social phenomenon, with many people treating it as a life option without realizing the consequences. As a reflection of life, literature, especially migrant literature, can serve as a valuable source for studying this phenomenon. Salman Rushdie, a writer of migrant literature, raises the topic of migration in his work In the South. This study aims to examine how migration produces hybridity, liminality, and identity instability in the characters of the story. This study uses qualitative textual analysis of a literary work using Bhabha’s postcolonial theory of hybridity in analyzing the data. The study's results reveal that the characters in the story exist in an in-between space where identities are fluid, unstable, and continually reconstructed through cultural blending in new environments. The cultural blending that occurs during the migration process causes several impacts on the identities of these characters, all of which lead to the formation of a new identity. The hybrid characters in the story emerge as a source of tension, highlighting the complexities of migrant experience.

Abstract

Even though the concept of physics is very important in daily activities, the cave exploration activities (caver and or cave tourists) are not based on of physics concepts. In addition, the teachers do not realize that through caves and it exploration activities can be used to learn the physics concepts. This research aims to study the physics concepts in caving activities where it used to develop of physics edupark digital books for senior high school students. This is preliminary research that part of research and development method by using the Plomp model where the study consists of teacher, student, and material potential analysis. This study has been resulting that many concepts while cave exploration activities. It can be used to lean the physics concepts then developing an Edupark physics digital enrichment book as a demand of the Merdeka’s Curriculum. The learning activities growth from the abilities of students who emphasize contextual learning where the students building meaningful understanding through learning and optimizing technology in learning

Abstract

The increasing frequency of disasters and environmental degradation in West Sumatra in 2024 has reshaped public perceptions of natural disasters. This study examines the role of disaster narratives in enhancing community knowledge, fostering disaster education values, and facilitating the transmission of these values. A service-learning approach was implemented through a community outreach program at Gandoriah Beach, Pariaman City, West Sumatra. Between May and June 2024, data were collected from 131 respondents representing diverse backgrounds. Participants were surveyed on disaster narrative knowledge, educational values, and value transmission while receiving narrative-based disaster mitigation education. Program outcomes were evaluated using structured and open-ended questionnaires, and the data were analyzed through quantitative and qualitative methods. The findings indicate that community knowledge of disaster narratives was generally high but unevenly distributed. Disaster education values were evident, with environmental and religious values emerging as the most dominant, whereas social responsibility, empathy, and moral values remained less developed. Disaster narratives also promoted emotional engagement and demonstrated strong potential for broader educational application. Moreover, their function has shifted from simply recounting past experiences to fostering causal understanding, environmental awareness, and preventive action, although community preparedness is still developing. These findings highlight the importance of strengthening narrative-based disaster education grounded in local knowledge and community experience to integrate knowledge, values, and action, thereby improving disaster preparedness, particularly among communities living in ecologically vulnerable coastal areas.
