Abstract

Livestock business development is carried out with reference to regional potential. This research aims to determine the potential for developing goat farming in Kontunaga District, Muna Regency. The research method used is a survey method and direct observation in the field. The location was determined deliberately. The number of respondents in this study was 50 people, taking 10 village breeders in 5 villages that had a goat population. Data sources are primary data and secondary data. Data analysis used descriptive analysis to describe the potential of the region and goat farming business. The results of the research show that the Kontunaga District area has the potential to be used as a goat livestock development area. Breeders are mostly of productive age, 6-10 years of experience, awareness of buying seeds and marketing directly.

Abstract

Tolaki chicken is a native breed originating from Southeast Sulawesi, and it is distributed across various regions, including Konawe, South Konawe, Kolaka, East Kolaka, and North Konawe Regencies. These chickens are predominantly utilized for cockfighting purposes. The objective of this study is to analyze the body weight and body dimensions performance of Tolaki chickens aged 1 to 8 weeks. Descriptive analysis was employed for the research data, presenting mean (X̅), standard deviation (SD), and coefficient of variance. The observed variables in this study, along with the measurement methods, included (1) body weight (kg), measured using a scale with a capacity of 2 kg and an accuracy level of 0.01, (2) back length (cm), measured by determining the distance between the last cervical vertebrae and the caudal vertebral bones, (3) chest circumference (cm), measured at the base of the right wing straight down to the sternum bone to the base of the right wing using a measuring tape, (4) wing span length (cm), measured from the humerus bone to the phalanges on both wings using a measuring tape, and (5) shank length (cm), measured from the tibia joint to the beginning of the middle finger joint, using a measuring tape. The study results indicate that body weight increased with age, and the body dimensions of chest circumference and back length experienced a significant increase at 12 weeks of age.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengganalisis kelayakan finansial Revenue Cost Ratio dan Benefit Cost Ratio pada usaha peternak kambing di Kecamatan Kabawo Kabupaten Muna Sulawesi Tenggara.Penelitian dilakukan melalui observasi lapangan, wawancara peternak dan dokumentasi. Analisis data dalam penelitian ini secara Revenu Cost Ratio dan Benefit Cost Ratio di lanjutkan dengan analisis deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menujukkan bahwa selama satu periode pemeliharaan, biaya tetap terbesar adalah biaya yang dikeluarkan untuk pembelian bibit pada awal pemeliharaan yaitu sebesar Rp. 2.799.633/periode dan biaya variabel tertinggi yaitu pada biaya tenaga kerja sebesar Rp. 3.885.592/periode. Total penerimaan pada penelitian ini sebesar Rp.9.899.000/periode. Pendapatan sebesar Rp.3.212.775/periode. Hasil perhitungan R/C ratio dan B/C ratio masing-masing sebesar 1,48 dan 0,48 yang menunjukkan bahwa usaha ternak kambing di Kecamatan Kabawo Kabupaten Muna Sulawesi Tenggara layak untuk dijalankan dan dikembangkan lagi karena hasil R/C >1 rasio dan B/C ratio >0. Nilai tersebut memberi gambaran bahwa setiap pengeluaran Rp. 1000 akan menghasilkan manfaat atau keuntungan sebesar Rp. 1.480. dan pendapatan B/C ratio sebesar Rp. 1000 yang dikeluarkan akan menerima manfaat sebesar Rp. 480 yang berarti bahwa secara finansial usaha ternak kambing di Kecamatan Kabawo Kabupaten Muna Sulawesi Tenggara menguntungkan dan layak untuk dikembangkan lebih lanjut.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Sistem integrasi merupakan alternatif penanggulangan kekurangan pakan ternak sekaligus memberi manfaat bagi tanaman. Penelitian bertujuan menganalis potensi pengembangan ternak sapi bali terintegrasi tanaman pangan di Kabupaten Muna Barat dimulai sejak November 2020 sampai Januari 2021, menggunakan metode perhitungan daya tampung ternak dengan asumsi terdapat peternak yang menerapkan sistem integrasi. Populasi penelitian adalah petani-peternak pada sebelas kecamatan, yaitu Kecamatan Tiworo Kepulauan, Kecamatan Maginti, Kecamatan Tiworo Tengah, Kecamatan Tiworo Selatan, Kecamatan Tiworo Utara, Kecamatan Lawa, Kecamatan Sawerigadi, Kecamatan Barangka, Kecamatan Wadaga, Kecamatan Kusambi, dan Kecamatan Napano Kusambi. Data yang diperoleh dari sebelas kecamatan tersebut dianalisis berdasarkan satuan ternak (ST) untuk melihat potensi pengembangan ternak sapi bali terintegrasi tanaman pangan. Hasil analisis menunjukkan luas panen tanaman pangan di Kabupaten Muna Barat 12.280 hektar dengan produksi pakan dari hasil ikutan tanaman pangan sebesar 34.318.800 kg bahan kering per tahun, mampu menyediakan kebutuhan pakan ternak sebanyak 12.534 satuan ternak. Sistem integrasi ternak dan tanaman pangan sangat potensial untuk diterapkan di Kabupaten Muna Barat.Kata Kunci: integrasi, sapi bali, tanaman pangan Potential Integration of Bali Cattle and Food Crops in West Muna RegencyABSTRACT The integration system is an alternative to overcome the shortage of animal feed while providing benefits for plants. This study aims to analyze the potential for developing bali cattle integrated with food crops in West Muna Regency starting from November 2020 to January 2021, using the cattle carrying capacity calculation method with the assumption that there are farmers who apply an integrated system. The population of this research is farmer-breeder in eleven sub-districts, namely Tiworo Islands District, Maginti District, Central Tiworo District, South Tiworo District, North Tiworo District, Lawa District, Sawerigadi District, Barangka District, Wadaga District, Kusambi District, and Napano Kusambi District. The data obtained from the eleven sub-districts were analyzed based on livestock units (LU) to see the potential for developing integrated bali cattle for food crops. The results of the analysis show that the harvested area of food crops in West Muna Regency is 12.280 hectares with feed production from by-products of food crops of 34.318.800 kg of dry matter per year, capable of providing animal feed needs of 12.534 units of livestock. The livestock and food crop integration system have the potential to be implemented in West Muna Regency.Keywords: integration, bali cows, food crops

Abstract

AbstractPanulirus ornatus is a vital fishery commodity that has high economic value. The research aims to examine the growth, amino acid profile, and intestinal histology of Panulirus ornatus fed a combination of fish meal and mollusk meal using a randomized block design (RBD) method with four treatments and three replications fed with four formulations for 50 days of maintenance. Four formulated feeds contained 20% sardine fish meal + 20% jackmackerel fish meal (treatment A), 10% mangrove snail meal + 15% golden snail meal + 15% mussel clam meal (Treatment B), 15% mangrove snail meal + 10% golden snail flour + 15% mussel clam flour (Treatment C), and 15% mangrove snail flour + 15% golden snail flour + 10% musselclam flour (Treatment D) were given to pearl lobsters once a day at a dosage of 3% of their weight body. Kepah cockle flour has more essential and nonessential amino acids than mangrove and golden snail flour. Mangrove snail flour has higher histidine levels than golden and kepah cockle flour. The results of the amino acid analysis of the test feed showed that the total essential amino acids and total nonessential amino acids in all test feeds showed the same amount, namely 13,0 -14,0%.The findings concluded that feed containing The combination of mollusks flour is more suitable than the combination of fish flour for the growth and amino acid needs of pearl lobsters. Keywords: Amino Acids, Pearl Lobster, Mollusc Flour

Abstract

Goats are generally kept quite a lot and are livestock that have the potential to produce meat to meet protein of animal origin. This study aims to determine the difference between the body dimensions of local goats in Ladongi District, East Kolaka Regency with the research material of 165 Kacang goats and 121 Jawarandu goats. Peanut goats were divided into 3 age groups, namely (≤12 months, 13-24 months, >24 months) each with 87, 46, 32 heads, and Jawarandu goats were divided into 3 age groups (≤12 months, 13 months). -24 months, >24 months) each were 49, 33, 39 using a purposive sampling research method. Research parameters include the body measured includes body length, shoulder height, chest circumference, chest depth, hip height, hip width, and body weight. The data obtained were processed to obtain a correlation (r). The results showed that the age difference was very significant. The conclusion of the research variable that has the strongest correlation value in estimating body weight is chest circumference

Abstract

The purpose of community service activities for youth disaster management groups in the Merapi area is to improve entrepreneurial skills, introduce online promotional media, develop design and promotional skills, and train them in marketing products and services. The challenge faced by this group is how to improve their economic level even though their knowledge and skills are limited to natural disaster management. The methods of implementing this activity include providing motivation, instilling an entrepreneurial spirit, financial management training, graphic design training, and ongoing mentoring. This activity has succeeded in fostering an entrepreneurial spirit among youth in the Merapi area, improving their knowledge and skills, and connecting them with online media to market their products and services.

Abstract

Baubau, Southeast Sulawesi, moringa leaves are generally only processed into clear vegetable soup which is believed to have medicinal properties, but have not been developed into processed products that are attractive, competitive, and have high economic value. In fact, if this business is managed seriously, it can provide benefits to the community of Bukit Wolio Indah Village, Wolio District, Baubau City. This activity was carried out through the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) method, practice, and mentoring. The results of the activity showed that partners initially had very limited knowledge about the benefits, properties, and how to process moringa leaves. However, after participating in education and direct practice, partners gained knowledge about the benefits and properties of moringa leaves, as well as skills in processing various moringa products, business management, marketing, packaging, and determining selling prices. Based on the evaluation, this local food business management education based on moringa leaves has been utilized by the Majelis Taklim mothers to start a home business that has the potential to increase family income.

Abstract

Watumotobe Village in Kapontori District, Buton Regency, has the potential to develop forage (HMT) to support the availability of quality feed for local livestock. However, the limited knowledge of local farmers regarding superior HMT cultivation techniques is a challenge. This community service program aims to improve the skills of farmers through training in planting HMT such as odot grass, molato, red elephant grass, pakchong, and indigofera. The training method involves delivering interactive materials, field practice in demonstration plots, and technical assistance in plant maintenance. The results of the activities showed an increase in understanding and skills of farmers in cultivating HMT, which is expected to support independent and sustainable livestock feed security. This program also encourages cooperation between farmers in managing local forage resources as a step towards feed self-sufficiency in Buton Regency.

Abstract

Program Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat Internal Pascasarjana Universitas Halu Oleo (UHO) dilaksanakan oleh tim dosen Pascasarjana UHO di Kelurahan Watubangga, Kecamatan Baruga, Kota Kendari. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan peternak ayam kampung dalam teknik pembibitan ayam kampung unggul melalui metode seleksi dan kawin silang. Melalui program ini, diharapkan peternak dapat menghasilkan bibit ayam kampung yang memiliki kualitas unggul, baik dari segi pertumbuhan, daya tahan tubuh, maupun produktivitas. Kegiatan ini mencakup beberapa aspek utama dalam pembibitan ayam kampung unggul. Pertama, peternak diberikan pelatihan tentang cara menyeleksi indukan, pejantan, dan anak ayam yang memiliki karakteristik unggul. Seleksi ini meliputi aspek fisik, kesehatan, dan potensi genetik yang mendukung produktivitas ternak. Kedua, diperkenalkan teknik kawin silang yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kualitas keturunan dengan mengkombinasikan sifat unggul dari berbagai jenis ayam kampung. Teknik ini memungkinkan peternak untuk memperoleh bibit yang lebih adaptif terhadap lingkungan serta memiliki pertumbuhan yang optimal. Selain itu, program ini juga mengenalkan teknik inseminasi buatan (IB) pada ternak ayam kampung. Peternak diberikan pelatihan mengenai teknik menampung semen ayam secara higienis serta teknik deposisi semen ke dalam saluran reproduksi ayam betina. Penerapan inseminasi buatan bertujuan untuk meningkatkan efisiensi reproduksi, mempercepat peningkatan kualitas genetik, serta mengurangi risiko penyebaran penyakit yang dapat terjadi melalui kawin alami. Melalui program ini, diharapkan peternak ayam kampung di Kelurahan Watubangga dapat menerapkan teknik pembibitan unggul secara mandiri, sehingga dapat meningkatkan produktivitas dan kesejahteraan peternak
