Abstract

Integration of turāth thought as the foundation of contemporary character education through a study of the concepts of adab, spirituality, and character formation in the monumental works of classical scholars. The research method uses a qualitative approach with a library research design and hermeneutic content analysis of primary texts including Ta'lim al-Muta'allim (Az-Zarnuji), Ayyuha al-Walad (Al-Ghazali), and Al-Muqaddimah (Ibn Khaldun), as well as relevant secondary sources. The results of the study indicate that turāth offers a holistic pedagogical-therapeutic framework by emphasizing the integration of intellectual, moral, and spiritual dimensions. Az-Zarnuji's concept of adab places ethics as the foundation of academic success; Al-Ghazali's thoughts on tazkiyah al-nafs provide a character formation model based on heart therapy (takhliyah-tahliyah); while Ibn Khaldun offers an educational paradigm based on social reality ('umrān and 'asabiyyah). Contextualization of turāth through the Maqāṣid al-Syarī'ah, historical-critical, and digitalization approaches produces contemporary learning models such as Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL), Project-Based Learning (PjBL), and ServiceLearning that are relevant to the needs of modern Islamic education. Therefore, the integration of turāth is able to address the character crisis and loss of spiritual meaning in contemporary education, while also offering solutions to develop an Islamic education system that is scientific, meaningful, and oriented towards the formation of perfect human beings.

Abstract

Objective: The low quality of education in Indonesia ranks 12th out of 12 countries in Asia according to a survey by PERC, and East Java Province is still below the mandatory 9-year education standard based on data from BPS of 8.69 years in 2024. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the effect of Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) and poverty levels on the average length of schooling in East Java Province during the period 2015–2024. Method: The method used in this study is multiple linear regression or Ordinary Least Square (OLS) analysis through SPSS to see the relationship between the two economic variables and the community's educational attainment. The data used is secondary data from the Central Statistics Agency, which covers regional educational development and economic conditions.  Results: The results show that GRDP and poverty levels simultaneously have a significant effect on average length of schooling, with an explanatory contribution of 76%. However, partially, both variables have a negative effect, indicating that economic growth is not yet evenly distributed and poverty remains an obstacle to improving education. This study is expected to provide input for local governments in formulating policies to improve the quality of education. Novelty: The novelty of this study lies in the analysis of the partial and simultaneous effects of two major economic factors on education indicators at the regional level, which has not been empirically studied much previously. Therefore, this study supports SDG 4 (Quality Education) by ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities.

Abstract

Objective: West Papua, despite its rich natural resources, continues to experience a gap between economic growth and community welfare, as the quality of life of its residents has not fully improved. This study aims to analyze the effect of the open unemployment rate (OUR) and poverty rate on the Human Development Index (HDI) in West Papua Province during 2015–2024. Method: This research uses secondary data obtained from the West Papua Central Statistics Agency (BPS). Data analysis was performed using multiple linear regression with IBM SPSS Statistics software to test both partial and simultaneous effects. Results: The t-test results show that the open unemployment rate has a positive but insignificant effect on HDI (sig. 0.928 > 0.05), while the poverty rate has a negative and significant effect (sig. 0.001 < 0.05). The F-test confirms a significant simultaneous effect (F count = 16.042; sig. 0.002). The coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.821 indicates that 82.1% of HDI variation is influenced by OUR and poverty, while the remaining 17.9% is affected by other factors. These findings show that poverty is the most dominant factor influencing human development in West Papua. Novelty: The novelty of this study lies in its empirical focus on an under-researched region and its contribution to integrating local development issues with the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) framework, particularly SDG 1 (No Poverty), offering valuable insights for inclusive policy formulation.

Abstract

The role of personality attributes in entrepreneurial intentions is still a hot topic of debate among researchers. This research aims to investigate the influence of locus of control, need for achievement, and proactive personality on the entrepreneurial intentions of high school students in Gresik Regency. A total of 341 high school students in Gresik Regency participated in this research. Research data was collected using three instruments, namely locus of control, need for achievement, and proactive personality, which were then analyzed using a quantitative approach, namely the multiple linear regression model. The results of the research showed that students' intentions to start their own business were significantly positively influenced by locus of control, need for achievement, and proactive personality, both partially and simultaneously. The R-square result is 0.763, which means the contribution of the independent variable to the dependent variable is 76.3%, and the remaining 23.7% is determined by other factors outside the model. This supports recent findings that state that personality attributes have a significant contribution in shaping a person's entrepreneurial intentions. It is recommended that educational institutions or schools be able to provide an entrepreneurship curriculum that facilitates students' personal characteristics, especially locus of control, need for achievement, and proactive personality. develop students' intentions for building a business.

Abstract

The rapid growth of Artificial Intelligence has transformed learning behavior in higher education, raising concerns about students’ cognitive engagement when relying on AI-generated assistance. This study examines how emotion regulation and social skills influence students’ study habits in AI-based economic learning, with cognitive engagement as a mediating variable. Using an explanatory quantitative design, data were collected from undergraduate students of the Faculty of Economics and Business at accredited public universities in East java, Indonesia, through a validated questionnaire consisting of 27 items adapted from established measurement scales. Data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The findings indicate that emotion regulation and social skills have a positive direct effect on students’ study habits. However, only social skills indirectly enhance study habits through increased cognitive engagement, while emotion regulation does not significantly influence cognitive engagement in AI-assisted learning. These results highlight that interpersonal competence plays a critical role in sustaining cognitive engagement and developing effective study habits, even as learning becomes increasingly supported by AI. Practically, the study suggests that higher education institutions and policymakers should design learning programs that integrate emotional management, social skill development, and responsible AI use to foster adaptive learning behavior. The novelty of this study lies in revealing distinct psychological mechanisms underlying study habits in AI-based economic learning, a context that remains underexplored in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of Human Development Index (HDI), School Participation Rate (APS), and Labor Force Participation Rate (TPAK) on poverty levels in Kediri Regency during the period 2010-2024. The method used is multiple linear regression with secondary time series data, analyzed using statistical software to test causal relationships among variables. The results show that IPM and APS have a significant negative effect on poverty levels, while TPAK does not have a statistically significant effect. These findings underscore the importance of improving education quality and human development to reduce poverty rates, as well as the need for employment policies that can create productive job opportunities. This study provides empirical contributions to the literature on poverty alleviation using a long-term quantitative approach at the regency level. Furthermore, the study offers practical recommendations for local governments in formulating effective strategies to reduce poverty.

Abstract

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is an approach that enables individuals to gain formal acknowledgement of competencies acquired through non-formal education. For higher education institutions, particularly private universities, effective RPL management can broaden access to education for a broader population. However, limited understanding and resources often hinder the optimal implementation of RPL in private institutions. This community service activity aims to enhance the RPL management capacity of private universities in Kediri through comprehensive training and mentoring. Survey results indicate that private university managers require further training in technical, managerial, and promotional aspects of RPL. Additionally, there is a need to integrate nationalistic values into the RPL program to strengthen students' character. Through a holistic approach, this activity provides recommendations for additional training in assessment methods, RPL promotion, and policy implementation based on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). The outcomes of this activity are expected to support private universities in improving the quality of RPL services, contributing to more inclusive and high-quality access to higher education.

Abstract

This bibliometric study maps the development of research on women in STEM education using 348 Scopus-indexed, English-language, open-access publications spanning 2006-2025. Bibliographic records were retrieved on June 12, 2025, and analyzed using Biblioshiny through performance analysis, keyword co-occurrence, co-authorship, co-citation, thematic mapping, and historiographic analysis. The field recorded an annual growth rate of 14.45%, with publication output increasing markedly after 2015 and remaining high after 2020. PLOS ONE was the most productive source, followed by CBE-Life Sciences Education and Sustainability, while highly cited publications by Stoet and Geary and Dennehy and Dasgupta formed important intellectual foundations for research on gender disparities, mentoring, and institutional intervention. Collaboration was extensive: 313 of the 348 documents (89.9%) were multi-authored, and 97.8% of authors contributed to co-authored publications. However, 76% of the scholarly output originated from the Global North, indicating persistent geographical imbalance. Conceptual mapping identified a pedagogical cluster centered on education, gender, students, mathematics, and engineering, alongside a demographic and indexing cluster dominated by female, male, human, and adult. The analysis also revealed limited attention to technology education, intersectional perspectives, and Global South contexts. Overall, the literature is substantively aligned with SDGs 4 and 5 through its focus on equitable access, participation, retention, and institutional inclusion. The findings support more reciprocal North-South partnerships, context-sensitive intervention studies, and stronger integration of intersectional and technology-focused research.
