Abstract

Abstrak. Penggunaan bahan kimia sebagai larvasida telah menimbulkan resistensi, masalah kesehatan, dan masalah lingkungan. Ekstrak dari daun jeruk sebagai biolarvasida Aedes aegypti dapat digunakan sebagai alternatif larvasida. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui spesies jeruk dari penelitian ini yang paling efektif sebagai biolarvasida Aedes aegypti. Penelitian eksperimen menggunakan metode rancangan nested dengan enam konsentrasi dan lima kali ulangan. Kematian larva dihitung setelah 24 dan 48 jam. Data yang diperoleh selanjutnya dianalisa dengan probit. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan (1) LC95 24 jam dari ekstrak daun Citrus hystrix, Citrus amblycarpa, dan Citrus maxima, yaitu masing-masing 3.176 ppm, 4.174 ppm, dan 6.369 ppm. (2) LC95 48 jam dari ekstrak daun Citrus hystrix, Citrus amblycarpa, dan Citrus maxima, yaitu masing-masing 2.499 ppm, 3.256 ppm, dan 4.886 ppm. (3) Ekstrak daun Citrus hystrix paling efektif sebagai biolarvasida terhadap larva Aedes aegypti dibandingkan ekstrak jeruk lainnya. Ekstrak daun Citrus hystrix dapat dijadikan bahan alternatif biolarvasida.

Abstract

Most HIV transmission to housewives was transmission from husbands infected with HIV. The number of housewives infected by HIV was increasing especially in Surabaya. This research aimed to find out the profile of housewives infected with HIV so that strategies can be proposed to prevent transmission to this group. This was a descriptive study with cross-sectional design. The research subjects were housewives with HIV in Surabaya with purposive sampling method. Inclusion criteria were not commercial sex workers (CSWs) or former CSWs, had main role as housewives, one-time marriage history, can read, write, and willing to be respondents. The number of respondents were 58 people. Data was collected by questionnaire containing general characteristics, marital history, husband's history, signs and symptoms of HIV for the first time, history of the first examination, history of disclosure of first time status, and the first source of information about HIV. Data analysis was frequency distribution and percentage. The results showed that the age of majority of respondents were 36-45 years old, high school education, married age 17-25 years, husband's age at marriage 17-25 years, husband's work was an employee, with high school education, history of husband's behavior was having a relationship with other women, the history of the first HIV test was in hospital, with no symptoms, the first source of information about HIV was a doctor, and the majority revealed it to her husband. Proposed strategies in accordance with these profiles are interventions in high school, pre-marriage, marriage, and the husband's workplace setting.

Abstract

Permasalahan yang MGMP Biologi Sidoarjo hadapi adalah dibutuhkannya penguatan materi untuk beberapa topik pelajaran. Salah satunya adalah kompetensi yang harus dikuasai oleh siswa SMA kelas 10 yaitu mampu melakukan kampanye tentang bahaya virus dalam kehidupan terutama HIV/AIDS dengan menggunakan beragam media informasi. Siswa diharapkan mampu untuk menjelaskan proses perkembangbiakan virus, penyebaran dan cara mencegahnya. Selain itu, di kelas 11, siswa diharapkan mampu untuk melakukan kampanye kelainan dalam sistem imun termasuk penyakit HIV/AIDS yang menyerang sistem kekebalan tubuh, dalam berbagai bentuk media informasi. Oleh sebab itu, solusi yang ditawarkan kepada MGMP Biologi Sidoarjo ini adalah penguatan kompetensi guru tentang pengantar dan virus HIV. Metode pelaksanaannya adalah pelatihan dan pendampingan menggunakan metode daring, pendampingan penulisan artikel. Metode penilaian dilakukan dengan pre test dan post test serta wawancara. Para guru merasa kegiatan ini sangat bermanfaat karena diingatkan kembali dan mendapat pemahaman lebih mendalam untuk diajarkan ke siswanya. Selain itu, terdapat perubahan sikap peserta akan ODHA dan mengurangi stigma sosial terhadap ODHA. Para guru juga diminta untuk menghasilkan artikel hasil dari pelatihan dan dipublikasikan secara online.

Abstract

Guru merupakan aset negara yang sangat penting dalam mencerdaskan anak bangsa. MGMP Biologi Sidoarjo adalah mitra rutin pengabdian masyarakat selama dua tahun. Penguatan materi yang pernah diberikan diulang kembali dengan cara dikemas dalam bentuk olimpiade. Tujuan kegiatan adalah memberikan penguatan dan pemantapan pengetahuan para guru biologi pada topik parasitologi. Metode kegiatan adalah difusi ipteks, pendampingan, dan penyelenggaraan kegiatan kompetisi olimpiade. Olimpiade dibagi menjadi babak penyisihan dan babak final. Properti yang digunakan adalah buku, power point, autoproctor, zoom, youtube. Hasil kegiatan ini adalah telah didapatkan lima juara, kompetisi berlangsung meriah dan anggota memberikan dukungan. Para guru menilai kegiatan ini sangat memberikan manfaat karena mengingat kembali materi yang telah dipelajari, mengukur pemahaman materi parasitologi, memotivasi guru untuk terus semangat belajar dan mengukir prestasi, dan anggota MGMP lebih aktif terlibat.

Abstract

Helminth infections are the most common infections in developing countries and still need to be eradicated. Fresh vegetables can be the source for transmission of helminth egg to humans. The aims of this paper are to identify the types of helminth egg which found in vegetables and prevention efforts according to the helminth life cycle. A literature review was arranged by review of 4 articles Indonesian research journal, 22 articles non Indonesia research journal, WHO website, and textbooks relevant to the study topic. The paper describes list of helminth eggs in vegetables, environmental, behaviors, and host-related helminth analyzes in vegetables, and prevention efforts based life cycle of helminthes. The study found that helminth eggs in vegetables were not only Soil Transmitted Helminth (STH) Nematode such as Ascaris lumbricoides, Trichuris trichiura, Necator americanus, Ancylostoma duodenale, and Strongyloides stercoralis, but also another nematode (Trichostrongylus, Toxocara, Trichocephal, and Enterobius vermicularis), cestoda groups (Taenia spp., Hymenolepis nana, and H. diminuta), Trematode groups (Heterophyes heterophyes, Clonorchis sinensis, Fasciola, and Dicrocoelium dendriticum). Each helminthes species have a different life cycle and intermediate host. Our prevention efforts to avoid infection risk require cooperation across programs, sectors, and community and should consider the helminth life cycles.

Abstract

The Indonesian government issued a policy of Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) to accelerate the handling of Covid-19. The impact of the Covid-19 outbreak has caused the temporary closure of all educational institutions and face-to-face learning methods in the classroom to distance learning (online). Facilities and infrastructure are one of the important supports in carrying out the learning process. The absence of facilities and infrastructure will complicate learning activities which will also affect the highs and lows of student learning experiences. Because basically, how the course of the learning process will affect how the learning outcomes will be. This research was conducted to determine the effect of facilities and infrastructure on the Parasitology practicum learning experience for students of the medical faculty of Ciputra University. This study uses analytical observation with a cross sectional design with a total research sample of 42 students of the Faculty of Medicine, Ciputra University class of 2018. Data collection was carried out by distributing questionnaires via google form. Data analysis used paired t test. This shows that there is an influence of facilities and infrastructure on the long-distance learning experience of the parasitology practicum of conventional methods.

Abstract

Latar Belakang: Demam Berdarah Dengue (DBD) masih menjadi penyakit tropis yang endemis di Indonesia sepanjang tahun. Beberapa agen biologis yang terbukti mampu mengendalikan populasi larva vektor DBD adalah kelompok mikroorganisme dan predator alami seperti ikan pemakan larva. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pola makan ikan setan hitam (Apteronotus albifrons) dalam memakan larva nyamuk Aedes aegypti. Metode: Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimental laboratorium dengan desain one-shot case study. Pengujian dilakukan dengan cara 25 ekor larva nyamuk Ae. aegypti instar III dimasukkan ke dalam akuarium kaca berisi 1 ekor ikan A. albifrons yang dipuasakan satu hari sebelum perlakuan. Replikasi dilakukan sebanyak 4 kali. Pengamatan dilakukan setiap 20 menit sampai semua 25 larva habis dimakan oleh ikan A. albifrons. Data waktu ikan mulai memakan dan waktu larva habis dimakan dicatat dalam penelitian ini. Hasil: Rata-rata waktu ikan setan hitam (A. albifrons) memulai memakan larva adalah 10,5 menit. Ikan A. albifrons dapat memakan habis 25 ekor larva nyamuk Ae. aegypti dengan rata-rata waktu 3 jam 30 menit. Kesimpulan: Ikan setan hitam (A. albifrons) memiliki potensi sebagai agen biologis alami vektor DBD.

Abstract

Fish as natural predators of mosquito larvae is a way of controlling mosquito larvae biologically that does not pose a risk to the health of organisms and environmental damage and overcoming the problem of mosquito resistance to chemical larvacide. One fish tested in the study was the rosy barb (Pethia conchonius) and lemon cichlid (Labidochromis caeruleus). Objectives: To analyzed  a difference in the predation ability of male and female fish to the larvae. Methods: This was an experimental study in the laboratory with a post-test-only design and five replications. One aquarium contains one liter of water, one fish, and 25 larvae of Ae. aegypti. Fish testing starts in the afternoon at 15.00 WIB. Observation the predation time of the fish until the fish eat all the larvae. Results: The average predation time of male P. conchonius fish was 1.57 minutes, and the female was 76.05 minutes. The average predation time of male L. caeruleus fish was 36.72 minutes and for females, 22.08 minutes. There was a significant difference between the predation of the male and female P. conchonius fish groups. There was no significant difference between the predation of male and female L. caeruleus fish groups to Ae. aegypti larvae. Conclusion: Rosy barb (P. conchonius) and lemon cichlid (L. caeruleus) have the potential to control the larval population of the Ae. aegypti mosquito. Abstract

Tantangan guru biologi saat ini adalah instruksi dari Kementerian Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan beserta kepala sekolah di tempat mitra untuk memasukkan materi pengayaan COVID-19 dalam pembelajaran, khususnya pelajaran Biologi. Tujuan umum pengabdian adalah membantu memberikan tambahan pengetahuan kepada guru Biologi agar dapar mengajarkan topik COVID-19 kepada peserta didik. Metode yang diberikan adalah kursus. Peserta kegiatan ini adalah lima orang guru biologi dari MGMP Biologi Sidoarjo. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan selama bulan Juli hingga Agustus 2020 secara online dengan aplikasi zoom. Untuk melihat pengetahuan peserta maka peserta diberikan pre-test dan post-test. Data yang dikumpulkan adalah data test dan respon peserta. Hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah (1) ada peningkatan pengetahuan peserta sebelum dan sesudah materi, (2) peserta telah belajar topik COVID-19, dan (3) peserta memberikan respon positif dan senang terhadap kegiatan ini.

Abstract

ABSTRAK  Penyakit Demam Berdarah Dengue (DBD) menimbulkan sakit sehingga menghentikan produktivitas manusia, kematian, bahkan wabah (Kejadian Luar Biasa/ KLB). DBD ditularkan melalui perantaraan nyamuk. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah memberikan penguatan materi kepada para guru tentang bahaya dan kewaspadaan terhadap nyamuk. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan secara daring menggunakan zoom. Peserta kegiatan ini adalah semua guru mata pelajaran Biologi yang tergabung di dalam MGMP Biologi SMA Kabupaten Sidoarjo. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah laptop, materi presentasi format ppt, zoom, dan google form. Hasil kegiatan adalah kegiatan berjalan dengan lancar. Ada peningkatan pengetahuan para peserta dari dimana rata-rata nilai pre test = 53 dan post test = 81. Kata Kunci: Nyamuk, guru, pengetahuan  ABSTRACT  Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) causes pain that stops human productivity, death, even plague. DHF is transmitted through mosquito intercession. These community service activities aim to provide material reinforcement to teachers about the dangers and vigilance against mosquitoes. This activity is carried out online using zoom. Participants of this activity are all teachers of Biology subjects who are members of MGMP Biology SMA Sidoarjo. The instruments used are laptop, ppt format presentation material, zoom, and google form. The result of the activity is that the training runs smoothly. There was an increase in the participants' knowledge from which the average pre-test value= 53 and post-test = 81.  Keywords: Mosquitoes, teachers, knowledge
