Abstract

One important factor in improving the quality of learning is the classroom atmosphere, which is formed through the activities carried out in it between the teacher and students with position, posture, and body language, as non-verbal communication, and the use of words, intonation, and pronunciation as verbal communication. Another important factor is the characteristics of the space where the activity takes place (setting). In applying the student-centered approach, which motivates students to learn more actively and not depend on the teacher, the role of a teacher is very important to always be able to improvise, exploit the potential and position, for the success of the teaching-learning process in schools. The purpose of activities in the field of interior science architecture community service at SMAK St. This framework is to strengthen the participation of teachers and students through the setting of learning spaces that support the establishment of communication as desired. The method used is observation of the physical environment and surveys of teachers and students about the communication experience and the convenience of learning on three subjects that are considered difficult, namely Chemistry, Biology, and English. The survey results show that effective verbal and non-verbal communication media between teachers and students and fellow students is triggered by the setting of the space outside the classroom, with more relaxed and enjoyable reasons, such as in a library room. This has a real impact on increasing student motivation in the form of subjects' likes and grades. Other results indicate an increase in teacher awareness that changes in varied learning space settings can support non-verbal communication with students. How to cite:Anggraeni, Lya Dewi. (2020). Abstract

Tulisan ini disusun dengan mengkaji delapan jurnal penelitian Indonesia, delapan jurnal penelitian internasional, laporan dan peraturan Kementrian Kesehatan Republik Indonesia, website World Health Organization (WHO), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), University of Florida Entomology and Nematology, dan satu buku teks.

Abstract

Abstract Background: Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is an endemic disease transmitted by Aedes aegypti which is supposed to be demolished by using the Larvicidal activity. However, there are some Ae. aegypti larvae which are found resistant against the temephos in some provinces in Indonesia. Thus, this has been one of the biggest concern of The Ministry of Health Republic Indonesia. Apart from the resistance effect caused, temephos has been reported causing a water pollution which triggers the decreasing standard of human health and immune system. These factors have created a need for search of a new and natural larvicide, which one of it can be gained from Averrhoa. This research is aimed at comparing the effectiveness between the extract Averrhoa bilimbi and Averrhoa carambola towards the Ae. aegypti larvae’s mortality. Method: An experimental laboratory research involving the design of post test-only control group. Twenty five larvae Ae. aegypti third instar were carried out at 5 different concentrations (0%, 1%, 1.6%, 2.6%, 3.4%, and 4%). The larva demolition is counted within 24 hours. The mortality data is then analysed with the probit analysis. Results: The extract of Averrhoa bilimbi and Averrhoa carambola can cause the mortality of the Ae. aegypti larvae. LC99 24 hours from Averrhoa bilimbi was recorded = 1.47% (1.20-2.04%), whereas LC99 24 hours was recorded from Averrhoa carambola = 8.96% (7.59-11.31%). The major loses appeared is the stretchy necks and injured appendices. The bioactive substances which are predicted to be the causes of the mortality in this research are saponin glycoside and flavonoid. Conclusion: The extract of Averrhoa bilimbi produces the strongest and the most effective larvicide which will be potentially developed as a new larvicide

Abstract

Abstract

Diarrhoea is a common disease in children and is dangerous if not followed up properly. Prevention of diarrhoea can be done by maintaining personal and environmental hygiene. Educating children and parents about the importance of preventing diarrhoea and overcoming it from home is necessary. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, many residents of the Gereka Kristen Indonesia (GKI) Sepanjang, Sidoarjo, especially children, are vulnerable to diseases such as diarrhoea, flu and respiratory and respiratory infections. This is related to clean and healthy living behaviours that all residents of the congregation should carry out. The problem faced by most parents in GKI is the lack of knowledge and media to teach about diarrhoea prevention or Clean and Healthy Living Behavior to their children. The solution offered through community service at GKI Sepanjang is education related to diarrhoea and clean and healthy behaviour to prevent it. The targets of this community service are parents, teenagers and children. Education for parents and adolescents is conducted through counselling and discussion, while education for children is done through storytelling. The pre-test and post-test results showed an increase in knowledge among adolescents and parents after counselling and discussion, which was 14%. The results of storytelling on children are considered to attract children's attention and increase awareness to prevent diarrhoea. Although there is an increase in knowledge among parents and adolescents, other methods are needed to increase knowledge related to diarrhoea and its prevention.
