Abstract

Structural inequality poses a persistent challenge within the criminal justice system, shaped by social factors such as poverty, race, and gender. Restorative justice offers an alternative to retributive models by emphasizing the restoration of relationships through inclusive dialogue among victims, offenders, and communities. This study evaluates the effectiveness of restorative justice in addressing structural inequality, utilizing qualitative methods including literature analysis and case studies from various countries, such as Indonesia. The analysis draws on academic journals, policy reports, and legal documents, alongside practical examples of restorative justice implementation. Findings suggest that restorative justice can promote a more inclusive justice system by empowering both victims and offenders and facilitating community involvement. However, challenges persist, including institutional bias, resource limitations, and resistance from the conventional justice system. To enhance the effectiveness of restorative justice, the study recommends institutional reforms, context-sensitive mediator training, and increased policy and resource support. Furthermore, fostering synergy between formal legal mechanisms and local, community-based approaches is crucial for addressing the root causes of structural inequalities. Overall, while restorative justice demonstrates significant potential, its success depends on overcoming systemic barriers and ensuring sustained commitment from all stakeholders.

Abstract

Self-confidence is an essential aspect of psychological well-being but is often undermined by fears about the future, particularly among university students undergoing identity formation. This study explores the effectiveness of existential counseling in enhancing self-confidence and reducing future-related anxiety in a student experiencing an identity crisis due to academic, social, and intrafamilial pressures. Using a qualitative case study design, one purposively selected participant took part in the study. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and counseling session documentation, then analyzed using content analysis to identify themes related to behavioral change, emotional regulation, and the courage to act authentically. The results revealed three main findings: (1) low self-confidence was triggered by negative social comparisons, particularly intrafamilial, and high parental expectations; (2) existential counseling facilitated the regulation of negative thoughts, strengthened awareness of personal values, and improved emotional regulation; (3) the participant became more courageous in making value-based decisions and resisting external pressures. This study highlights intrafamilial comparison as a rarely addressed factor in the literature and demonstrates the intervention’s effectiveness within only five sessions. In conclusion, existential counseling effectively helps students face life’s uncertainties with optimism, authenticity, and confidence. Practically, this approach is recommended for students facing self-confidence crises due to academic and socio-cultural pressures.

Abstract

This research aims to develop an instrument of psychological flexibility of students based on an Islamic perspective. The research uses a method of instrument development with a descriptive quantitative method. Data collection was carried out through psychological flexibility instruments in Islamic perspective students with 168 respondents. The instrument of psychological flexibility in students was developed based on the theory in Islamic psychology developed by the figures Al Ghazali, Ibn Sina, and Ibn Arabi. The results of the field test of the psychological flexural instrument were analyzed using the RASCH measurement model and Winstep software. Based on the results of the Item Fit Order Test, it is known that of the 60 items, the results of the Item and Person Reliability Test are in the ideal range (+0.5 logit to +1.5 logit) which is 0.95 and 0.88 which are in the very good category and meet the measurement requirements. In addition, the results of the Unidimensionality Test showed good unidimensionality (25.5%), where the raw variance index was above the threshold of 20%. This indicates that this instrument can accurately measure students' psychological flexibility. The results of this study can be considered in the use of psychological flexibility instruments among students, which can then be continued with the formulation of the right guidance and counseling model in increasing psychological flexibility.

Abstract

Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease of the respiratory tract reversible characterized by increased response of the trachea and bronchi to various stimulation. Signs and symptoms of bronchial asthma can vary from one individual to other individual based on severity and frequency of recurrence. Typical symptoms in sufferers include repeated shortness of breath, coughing, and wheezing. This case study aims to analyze care nursing for asthma patients. The author uses the analytical descriptive method in the form of a case study approach to nursing care for a patient which includes assessment, nursing diagnosis, nursing planning, nursing implementation, nursing evaluation, and the use of Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) interventions. Evaluation results can be resolved, this was indicated by a decreased complaint of shortness of breath in patients, improved respiration, increased saturation, no use of accessory muscles for breathing, and no nostril breathing. This showed that the semi-fowler position is a non-pharmacological therapy effective and proven to reduce shortness of breath in patients who experience respiratory problems such as asthma.

Abstract

Psychological flexibility is essential for university students to adapt and succeed in developmental and academic challenges. This study examines the effectiveness of an Islamic guidance and counseling framework based on sufistic tadabbur alam (nature contemplation) in enhancing students’ psychological flexibility. A pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design was employed with nine fourth-semester students at Universitas Negeri Surabaya, selected through purposive sampling. The intervention included contemplative activities grounded in Sufi values and nature reflection, with a 60-item flexibility scale developed from the works of Al-Ghazali, Ibn Sina, and Ibn Arabi. Analysis using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test revealed a significant increase in psychological flexibility across cognitive, emotional, and behavioral dimensions. These findings support the integration of spiritual and ecological elements into counseling models to foster resilience and self-awareness. This study contributes to Islamic educational psychology by offering a holistic and spiritually grounded approach to student well-being and personal development.

Abstract

Fast and precise service must be done in handling patients in the emergency room. Services in the emergency room can be hampered if there is a condition of accumulation of patients in the emergency room which is usually caused by an imbalance between the number of patients entering the emergency room with the number of nurses. This study aims to determine the relationship between nurse characteristics and length of stay (LOS) in the emergency department of dr. Slamet Garut Regional General Hospital. This research design uses cross sectional with a sample size of 50 people. The sampling technique uses total sampling. Data collection will use a questionnaire. Data analysis of gender variables (nominal) and length of stay (ordinal) uses the chi-square test, while for variables of age, education level, length of work, (ordinal) and length of stay (ordinal) uses the spearman-rho test. The research location will be carried out in the emergency department of General Hospital dr. Slamet Garut for 2 months from August to September 2025. The results of the study show that no relationship between the educational level of nurses and the length of stay of patients in the emergency room with a p-value of 0.40, no relationship between the gender of nurses and the length of stay of patients with a p-value of 0.94, no relationship between the age of nurses and the length of stay of patients with a p-value of 0.21, and no relationship between the work experience of nurses and the length of stay of patients with a p-value of 0.91. The high workload of nurses can lead to fatigue, loss of concentration, narrowed focus and attention, which impacts the speed and accuracy of nurses in performing emergency procedures on patients, thereby increasing the length of stay of patients in the emergency room. Overall, there was no correlation between the age, gender, educational level, and work experience of nurses and the length of stay of patients in the emergency room at dr. Slamet Garut Hospital.
