Abstract

Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer and the leading cause of cancer death in women, therefore breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in most countries. Providing adequate information needed by patients can reduce anxiety and feelings of insecurity. Most of women with breast cancer stated that the information obtained was unsatisfactory. However, few studies have comprehensively addressed the information needs of women with breast cancer across all stages of the disease. This scoping review aimed to fully understand the unique information needs of breast cancer patients at various stages of the cancer continuum. A scoping review will be conducted following PRISMA guidelines. Relevant studies will be identified from databases such as PubMed, Scopus, and Taylor & Francis, EBSCOhost, and ScienceDirect. In addition, searches via Google Scholar, interpersonal network recommendations, and reference chains will also be conducted. Studies will be selected based on PCC criteria, focusing on breast cancer patients as the population, information needs as content, and at various stages of the cancer continuum as the context. Data extraction and risk of bias assessment will be performed using Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses extension for Scoping Reviews (PRISMA-ScR) Checklist. This review is expected to provide comprehensive information needs of breast cancer patients at various stages of the cancer continuum. The findings will be valuable for educational institutions, healthcare facilities, in designing innovative, technology-based educating programs that enhance knowledge retention, practical skills, and psychological preparedness.

Abstract

Background: Valvular Heart Disease (VHD) occurs when one of the valves in the heart is damaged or dies. The highest prevalence of VHD is in mitral regurgitation. The management action that can be given to patients with mitral valve problems is Mitral Valve Replacement (MVR). Objective: To discuss the indications of Temporary Pacemaker (TPM) insertion in intra-operative MVR and the indications of collaborative drug administration in patients. Methods: Descriptive case-report of a 70-year-old woman with VHD after MVR surgery. Case Description: The patient had a history of Permanent Pacemaker (PPM 2023) ec. Bradycardia. Currently the patient was diagnosed with VHD and MVR surgery was performed. At the time of weaning Cardiopulmonary Bypass (CPB) to off, the patient's heart rhythm was not pacing and blood pressure dropped. So it was decided to go back on CPB and install a TPM. The patient received medical support therapy in postoperative care. Discussion: The indication for TPM insertion is to prevent postoperative heart rhythm disturbances and to temporarily replace the inactive PPM function. In postoperative management, the patient received medical therapy and therapeutic interventions. The results obtained are the patient's hemodynamic status is stable, pain is reduced, fluid balance is more negative, there are no signs of infection in the surgical wound, and minimal bleeding. Conclusion: TPM placement is required in patients with PPM if no pacing rhythm is found. The provision of collaborative medication with appropriate doses and indications is effective in reducing the risk of postoperative complications of MVR and stabilizing the patient's hemodynamics.

Abstract

Background: Floods are a frequent natural disaster that significantly impacts public health, particularly the spread of infectious diseases. Effective health interventions are needed to reduce post-flood health risks. Purpose: To map the literature related to post-flood disease prevention strategies. Method: This scoping review involved five main stages: (1) identifying the research question; (2) identifying relevant studies; (3) selecting studies; (4) recording data; and (5) summarizing and reporting the results. The literature search for this observation was conducted in three databases: the National Library of Indonesia, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar. The inclusion criteria for articles were published between 2021 and 2025 in English and Indonesian, literature reviews, opinion pieces, editorials, or conference abstracts focused on post-flood disease prevention, the research setting was community-based, participants were health workers, and post-flood outcomes were the primary outcome. Results: Five key themes emerged from the analysis: increasing access to clean water and sanitation, community education, surveillance and rapid response, mental health support, and a multisectoral approach. Integrated and collaborative health interventions have proven crucial in reducing post-flood disease incidence. Conclusion: Despite progress in post-flood health interventions, there are still gaps in research focusing on long-term interventions, vulnerable populations, and multisectoral approaches. Recommendation: Future research should address these aspects to improve the effectiveness of health policies and practices in addressing post-flood health challenges.   Keywords: Disease Prevention; Post-Flood Disaster; Strategy. Abstract

Background: Children are the most vulnerable group to the impacts of disasters, including disruptions to their physical and mental health. A common psychological effect is anxiety, which can develop into post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, and prolonged trauma. Nurses play a crucial role in providing interventions to help reduce post-disaster anxiety in children. Purpose: Identify and explore nursing interventions that have been proven effective in reducing anxiety among children in post-disaster situations. Method: A scoping review method following the PCC (Population, Concept, Context) framework. Literature searches were conducted in the PubMed, Scopus, EBSCOhost, and Science Direct databases, covering publications from 2015 to 2025. Only experimental study designs (Randomized Controlled Trials and quasi-experimental studies) focusing on nursing interventions for post-disaster anxiety in children were included. Articles were selected using PRISMA guidelines and assessed using the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) Critical Appraisal Tools. Results: 8,114 identified articles, seven met the inclusion criteria and were further analyzed. The findings indicate that various nursing interventions effectively reduce post-disaster anxiety in children, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT), thought-stopping therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), technology-based interventions (Bounce Back Now), and micronutrient supplementation. Studies suggest that technology-based and brief interventions can reach a wider population at a lower cost, while nutrition-based interventions provide additional benefits in reducing anxiety and improving psychosocial functioning. Conclusion: Nursing interventions such as CBT, technology-based approaches, and micronutrient supplementation are effective in managing post-disaster anxiety in children. Additionally, micronutrient supplementation can serve as a complementary intervention to support children's recovery.   Keywords: Anxiety; Children; Nursing Interventions; Post-Disaster.   Pendahuluan: Anak merupakan kelompok paling rentan terhadap dampak bencana, termasuk gangguan kesehatan fisik dan mental. Abstract

ABSTRACT Pain is an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience resulting from tissue damage. Unconscious patients cannot directly communicate their pain to nurse, but this doesn’t meant they cannot feel pain. Pain in unconscious patients can arise from routine procedures such as prolonged immobilization to invasive procedures like surgery. Nursing interventions to manage pain are necessary to enhance patient comfort. This study aims to examine pain management in unconscious patients in the Intensive Care Unit. This type of research is a scoping review, searching for articles in the PubMed, SCOPUS, and EBSCO databases. The search process used keywords (unconscious patient OR coma OR sopor OR somnolent) AND (pain management OR pain relief OR pain control) AND (intensive care unit OR critical care OR HCU). 45 articles were found that matched the keywords, but only 5 articles were relevant to the review's objectives. Pain management for unconscious patients starts with recognizing pain symptoms, assessing pain, and followed by nursing interventions. Interventions that can be provided include TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation), foot massage, and music therapy. Proses pencarian menggunakan kata kunci (unconscious patient OR coma OR soppor OR somnolent) AND (pain management OR pain relief OR pain control) AND (intensive care unit OR critical care OR HCU).

Abstract

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) remains the leading cause of mortality globally and in Indonesia, with rising incidence among younger populations due to modifiable risk factors such as poor diet, physical inactivity, and mental health issues. These lifestyle-related factors are increasingly prevalent, yet interventions addressing them are varied and dispersed across the literature. To explore recent nutritional, physical activity, and mental health interventions for the prevention of cardiovascular disease. This study used a scoping review design. Articles were obtained from six databases, EBSCO-host, CINAHL, PubMed, ScienceDirect, Scopus, Taylor and Francis, and Google Scholar, with the major keywords “dietary”, “physical activity”, “mental health”, “cardiovascular disease”, “prevention”. Inclusion criteria included original studies, in English, published between 2015–2025, and the population reviewed was Adults / General population / High-risk individuals (e.g., aged >30, person with history of CVD). Data extraction followed the PRISMA-ScR guidelines. Twelve articles meeting the inclusion criteria showed intervention of prevention of cardiovascular disease. Physical activities such as walking, yoga, and exercise programs effectively improve cardiovascular health and physical fitness. Nutritional approaches like the Mediterranean diet help reduce cholesterol levels and blood pressure. Mental health practices, including meditation and stress management, contribute to lowering anxiety and blood pressure.  This review emphasizes that integrating regular physical activity, a nutritious diet, and mental health support is essential for effectively preventing cardiovascular disease, with personalized approaches playing a key role in helping individuals maintain these healthy habits.
