Abstract

This study aims to explain adult education in the Quran at surah al-An’am verses 74-75. This research is a qualitative research based on the tahlili method. The data analysis technique uses content analysis. The method of tahlili is used by the procedure of explaining the relationship of the verse which will be interpreted by the previous paragraph or after it or with the previous or subsequent surah; explain asbab nuzul; analyzing vocabulary; explain the meaning contained in each verses; and draw a conclusion. These verses illustrate the interaction between Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) and his father, as well as his journey toward certainty through contemplation and divine demonstration. The analysis reveals that Prophet Ibrahim’s approach reflects key characteristics of adult learning, such as intrinsic motivation, a focus on real-life experiences, and a learning process that is both emotional and intellectual. Two prominent learning methods identified are the method of admonition and questioning, used to raise awareness, and the method of demonstration, used to strengthen conviction. These findings offer valuable insights into the development of Islamic learning approaches grounded in revealed knowledge, especially in adult education, emphasizing experience, internalization, and learner autonomy.

Abstract

Basically, in social life in achieving progress it is indicated that a person is able to meet the needs of a social group so that that person can contribute to society. Regardless of the intention of a person, one of the efforts made by the community to obtain education is to get a scholarship so that it gets recognition from the community about their social status. If we look at it in today's society, it seems that this view has started to shift because if we see that the award is more to a degree than from one's knowledge. This has prompted some people to take academic degrees with a path that is not in accordance with the procedure. The procedure that was followed was what damaged the social order and academic ethics. It can be said that this degree was obtained based on the objective, namely degree fever. The academic world is a forum whose process always follows academic ethics through scientific activities. Thus academic ethics is essentially a scientific activity that takes place in higher education which includes universal and developing activities. Higher education institutions must be prepared to accept criticism with mutual respect and not engage in discriminatory activities. Violations committed in academic ethics are something that damages and tarnishes the world of education. In order for these educational values to be implemented optimally, we need a rule that can control the process of implementing education; this is what is called academic ethics. The emphasis on the value of honesty in academic ethics consists of two things, namely in writing scientific papers and completing studies. Therefore, it is demanded that every education actor is systematic and comprehensive and requires commitment from various parties to fix problems in education.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of rewards and punishments in fostering student character at SMP Sinar Husni Medan. Character building is an important aspect of Islamic education that prioritizes not only intellectual intelligence but also character formation. The implementation of rewards and punishments is very important as a means of fostering student character by reinforcing positive attitudes and setting limits on negative behavior. Unlike most previous studies that have focused more on aspects of discipline or behavior in general, this study specifically examines character development at the junior high school level. This study uses a descriptive analytical qualitative method with field research. Data collection techniques were conducted through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation involving 3 teachers and 5 students. The results of the study indicate that rewards given in verbal and nonverbal forms can motivate students to maintain positive behavior, while punishment is applied gradually and proportionally, including reprimands, minor actions, confiscation of belongings, issuance of warning letters, and summoning of parents, which can limit negative behavior. Most students are able to maintain positive behavior, although a small number still repeat violations. This indicates that character development is not sufficient with rewards and punishments alone but also requires an approach that addresses aspects of awareness and deep understanding of moral values. The reward and punishment method has proven to be a relevant tool for character development and should be applied consistently in shaping a generation of noble character.
