Abstract

This study aims to deeply uncover the meaning of zakat for companies, particularly in the context of zakat as mental value added and as part of the Sharia Value Added (SVA) concept. Departing from an interpretive paradigm with a phenomenological approach, this study examines how business actors interpret zakat not only as a sharia obligation, but also as altruistic behavior that contributes to mental, spiritual, and social well-being. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation of company leaders and employees who consistently pay zakat. The results show that zakat is interpreted as a voluntary act of helping others, which brings a sense of joy, pride, and satisfaction to those who do it. Informants feel that zakat functions not only as a distribution of wealth, but also as a means of purifying the soul, strengthening humanitarian values, and forming inner peace. This sense of satisfaction arises from the awareness that some of the wealth owned is the right of others.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the symbolic meaning of sustainability contained in the cover of PT Pertamina's 2023 Sustainability Report using Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis. This approach is used to interpret the three layers of meaning: denotation, connotation, and myth that shape the company's sustainability image and ideology. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with a focus on visual and narrative signs that represent sustainability messages. The analysis focuses on visual elements such as color, images, typography, and communication themes used on the report cover to build an image of social and environmental responsibility. In addition, this study also links the findings with legitimacy theory to explain how these visual representations function as a corporate communication strategy in gaining and maintaining social legitimacy. The results show that symbols such as blue and green, wind turbines, solar panels, and the theme "Ensuring Transition, Energizing the Nation" not only represent a commitment to clean energy but also shape the corporate sustainability myth, namely the belief that fossil fuel companies can be the main agents of energy transition. Thus, the cover of the sustainability report acts as a symbolic legitimation tool that strengthens Pertamina's image as an innovative, responsible, and sustainability-oriented national company.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the implementation of the government agency performance accountability system (SAKIP) policy at the Palu City Communication, Informatics, Cryptography, and Statistics Office. This study used qualitative methods with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, and documentation. Five subjects were selected through purposive sampling. The results indicate that, in terms of policy content, the implementation of SAKIP has had a positive impact on increasing effectiveness, efficiency, and performance accountability, as well as encouraging a transformation of work culture toward a results-oriented one. However, constraints remain in the form of limited human resources, both in terms of quantity and capacity for outcome-based performance, as well as limited budget for training and competency development. In terms of implementation context, SAKIP implementation is supported by a clear organizational structure, collaborative coordination between internal and external actors, and a high level of regulatory compliance. Although the work culture tends to be formal and bureaucratic, the agency is unable to implement cross-sectoral coordination and be responsive to external input. Public perception is influenced by four factors: motives, interests, experience, and expectations. In conclusion, SAKIP implementation at the Palu City Communications and Informatics Office has progressed in a positive direction, but requires continued strengthening of human resource capacity, inter-agency coordination, and optimization of information technology utilization to ensure a more effective, efficient, and sustainable performance accountability system.

Abstract

Uterine prolapse is a reproductive disorder in cattle that requires prompt and effective management to ensure survival, recovery, and preservation of fertility. Uterine prolapse is defined as the protrusion of the uterus through the vulva, exposing the mucosal surface. This case report describes the occurrence of uterine prolapse in a cow and its therapeutic management. Clinical examination revealed that the uterus was protruding outside the pelvic cavity, accompanied by weakness and anorexia. The patient was diagnosed with a uterine prolapse. The treatment consisted of manual uterine repositioning, followed by vulvar suturing. Supportive therapy, including antibiotics, multivitamins, calcium supplementation, and topical antiseptics, was administered for seven days. The cow showed favorable recovery and complete resolution of the uterine prolapse. The prevention of recurrent uterine prolapse in cattle includes adequate uterine repositioning, temporary vulvar suturing, correction of postpartum metabolic disorders, appropriate nutritional management, and close postpartum monitoring.

Abstract

Fish is a food source with high protein content and is relatively more affordable compared to other animal-based protein sources. A common issue is the misuse of hazardous substances to prevent quality deterioration and increase profit, such as formalin. This study aimed to identify the presence of formalin in fresh marine fish sold at Traditional Market X, Payakumbuh, to ensure food quality and safety for public consumption. Formalin testing was conducted on 10 samples, each weighing 10 g. Twenty milliliters of aquadest were added to each sample, followed by homogenization using a stomacher. The samples were then centrifuged at 3000 rpm for two minutes. After centrifugation, 10 mL of the supernatant from each sample was transferred into test tubes. Each tube was added with 3 drops of 0.5% phenylhydrazine, 2 drops of 5% sodium nitroprusside, and 3 drops of 10% NaOH, and the results were observed. The results showed that none of the samples contained formalin, as indicated by the absence of color change; all samples remained reddish-orange after reagent addition. Therefore, fresh marine fish sold at Traditional Market X Payakumbuh, were confirmed to be free from formalin and safe for consumption. Routine monitoring by the government is recommended to prevent the misuse of hazardous substances such as formalin in food products.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of teachers in implementing social rehabilitation guidance for deaf students at SLB Negeri 1 Sinjai. The study used a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through interviews, observation, and documentation. The research subjects were teachers directly involved in the learning and guidance of deaf students. The results of the study indicate that teachers have a very strategic role not only as teachers, but also as guides, facilitators, and supporters of students' social-emotional development. Rehabilitation guidance is carried out through the use of sign language, visual media, and an individual approach according to the students' needs. In addition, teachers also play a role in building communication with parents to support optimal student development. Despite various obstacles such as limited facilities, differences in student abilities, and a lack of professional staff, teachers continue to strive to overcome these through creativity and collaboration. The use of sign language has proven effective in improving communication, understanding, and self-confidence of deaf students in the learning process.
