Abstract

Abstract

This research provides a policy-focused analysis of how organizational discipline and work environment policies influence employee performance through job satisfaction, grounded in the Indonesian legal framework. Using path analysis on data from 94 employees at PT. Catur Dakwah Crane Farmasi Bogor, this study evaluates the on-the-ground implementation of national labor regulations, specifically Law Number 13 of 2003 concerning Manpower. This rigorous methodological approach—utilizing probability sampling, validated psychometric instruments, and path analysis via SPSS—was strategically employed to empirically deconstruct and verify the posited theoretical framework, thereby ensuring the findings' robustness for informing evidence-based policy. The empirical findings reveal a dual-pathway mechanism to performance: an affective pathway mediated by job satisfaction (particularly for work environment policies) and a procedural pathway operating directly through discipline. Results demonstrate that: 1) work discipline and work environment have direct positive and significant effects on job satisfaction (R² = 0.512); 2) work discipline, work environment, and job satisfaction all have direct positive and significant effects on employee performance (R² = 0.635); 3) job satisfaction does not mediate the discipline-performance relationship, indicating a strong situation effect; and 4) job satisfaction significantly mediates the environment-performance relationship. These findings provide evidence-based recommendations for both national labor policy formulation and organizational-level policy implementation in the Indonesian pharmaceutical sector.

Abstract

Abstract

The tea plantation industry in Indonesia faces ongoing challenges in sustaining employee productivity due to cost pressures, competitive demands, and difficulties in implementing effective human resource management practices, where the combined effects of compensation and work discipline, particularly mediated by job satisfaction, remain underexplored. This study aims to examine the direct and indirect influences of compensation and work discipline on work productivity, with job satisfaction serving as an intervening variable, among employees. The research adopted a quantitative approach using path analysis. Data were collected from 100 purposively selected employees through questionnaires measured on a five-point Likert scale. Analysis was conducted with statistical software to test direct effects, indirect effects via the Sobel test, and total effects. The results indicate that compensation and work discipline significantly and positively affect job satisfaction, with compensation showing a stronger influence. Both variables also directly enhance work productivity, again with compensation exerting a greater impact. Job satisfaction partially mediates these relationships, contributing meaningful indirect effects. Compensation demonstrates a substantially larger total effect on work productivity compared to work discipline, highlighting the need for management to prioritize competitive compensation and disciplined work practices to boost employee productivity.

Abstract

Understanding the dynamics of the relationship between shoreline change and mangrove forest cover change is important for a foundation in mangrove and coastal forest management. The study aimed to analyze multitemporal changes in mangrove cover and shoreline in coastal areas and to investigate the correlation between these changes from 2011 to 2024. The research used remote sensing data to derive mangrove cover changes and detect shoreline changes from Landsat images acquired in 2011, 2015, 2019, and 2024. Land cover changes were examined using the operational land imager sensor, bands 3 and 6 of Landsat 8 images and bands 2 and 5 of Landsat 5 images, and shoreline changes were measured using the digital shoreline analyses system (DSAS). The result showed a reduction of 580.07 ha (26.48%) in mangrove cover area over eight years (2011-2019), followed by an increase of about 1,931.59 ha (54.54%) in 2024. Low abrasion (0.01-108.41 m) and low accretion (0-106.78 m) per four-year interval dominate in shoreline change. However, the Pearson correlation showed a moderate but non-significant association between changes in mangrove cover and shoreline changes (r = 0.307, p = 0.266). These results demonstrate that the correlation between mangrove cover change and shoreline change is non-linear, suggesting that shoreline change is affected not only by mangrove change but also by various other factors, including sedimentation events. It indicates that additional factors, including geomorphological dynamics, significantly influence mangrove forest dynamics. Keywords: abrasion, change detection, land cover, mangrove, shoreline

Abstract

Developing social-entrepreneurship-based youth leadership is a crucial strategy for enhancing the capacity of the younger generation to face social and economic challenges toward a Golden Indonesia. However, the role of youth organizations and MSMEs has not yet been optimally integrated into community empowerment practices. This community service activity aims to develop a social-entrepreneurial leadership model through mentoring MSME-based youth organizations (Karang Taruna) using a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach. The methods used include participatory planning, leadership workshops, MSME mentoring, and collaborative action-reflection involving youth and local businesses as active partners. The results of the activity indicate an increase in the collaborative leadership capacity of youth, strengthening of MSME managerial and digital marketing skills, and the formation of a sustainable community collaboration network. The PAR approach enables experiential learning that encourages social innovation and increases active participant engagement. This program produces an empowerment model based on social-entrepreneurship leadership that has the potential to be replicated in other community contexts as a strategy to strengthen the role of youth and empower the local economy.

Abstract

Lead (Pb) is a heavy metal that induces the formation of free radicals and causes hepatocellular damage, making the liver one of the primary target organs of lead toxicity. Moringa oleifera leaves contain natural antioxidants with the potential to counteract oxidative stress induced by lead exposure. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of Moringa oleifera leaf simplicia on liver histopathology in white rats (Rattus norvegicus) exposed to lead acetate. A total of 20 rats were randomly divided into four groups: P0 (negative control; standard feed and water), P1 (positive control; 0.5 mg/head/day of lead acetate for 3 days), P2 (0.5 mg/head/day of lead acetate plus 0.1 g/mL/day of Moringa oleifera leaf simplicia), and P3 (0.5 mg/head/day of lead acetate plus 0.6 g/mL/day of Moringa oleifera leaf simplicia). Treatments were administered for 14 days via intragastric gavage. On day 15, the rats were euthanized, and liver tissues were collected, processed histologically, and stained with hematoxylin-eosin. Histopathological lesions, including congestion, fatty degeneration, and necrosis, were scored on a scale from 0 to 3 based on severity. The Kruskal-Wallis test showed significant differences among groups for all lesions (P < 0.05). The Mann-Whitney test revealed significant differences in hepatic congestion between P0 and P1, P0 and P2, as well as between P3 and P1-P2, while no significant difference was observed between P0 and P3. For fatty degeneration and necrosis, P0 differed significantly from P1, P2, and P3. In conclusion, Moringa oleifera leaf simplicia at a dose of 0.6 g/mL/day reduced the severity of hepatic congestion caused by lead exposure; however, its effects on fatty degeneration and necrosis were not statistically significant.

Abstract

This study evaluates the distribution and condition of vegetation within the green belts of Medan City Center in 2025 by employing the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) derived from Sentinel-2 satellite imagery, supplemented by field verification through purposive sampling. The analysis reveals that the findings indicate that non-vegetated category (NDVI < 0.1) dominated, encompassing 12,240.98 hectares or approximately 43.98%, whereas the dense vegetation class (NDVI 0.3–0.4) represents the smallest portion, covering only 3,009.70 hectares (10.81%) of the total area.Vegetation index values within these urban corridors range from a maximum of 0.55 to a minimum of -0.04, where lower values are predominantly associated with built-up areas and open land, while higher values are restricted to riparian buffers and fragmented green spaces. Spatial pattern analysis, utilizing a 500-meter buffer, highlights significant disparities in vegetation distribution and underscores the mounting pressure of urbanization, which has compromised the ecological functions of the city’s green infrastructure. Consequently, these findings emphasize the critical need for strategic planning and robust policy interventions to revitalize green open spaces as essential ecological infrastructure; therefore, the primary recommendation focuses on expanding green belt vegetation through intensification and protection efforts to ensure that ecological, social, and aesthetic functions are maintained sustainably within the Medan City Center.
