Abstract

Antidiabetic and antihyperlipidemic have a very close relationship for Mellitus Diabetics. In previous research, Ekor Naga leaves (Rhaphidophora pinnata (L.f) Schott) had an antihyperglycemic effect. The effect was obtained from the presence of secondary metabolites, namely alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, saponins, and steroids. This research is expected to be a further test of the antidiabetic and antihyperlipidemic effects of alloxan-induced male white rats. This research used an experimental method. The treatment group was divided into four groups, namely negative control (Na CMC 0,5%), positive control (10 mg/kg BW of glibenclamide), group one (250 mg/kg BW of Ekor Naga leaves extract), and group two (500 mg/kg BW of Ekor Naga leaves extract). Data were taken from blood sugar levels on the days 0th, 7th, 10th, and 14th. Total cholesterol, triglyceride, LDL, and HDL levels were observed on the 14th day. Results were analyzed by one-way ANOVA test. The followed by Duncan’s test. The result of ethanol extract from Ekor Naga leaves showed antidiabetic and antihyperlipidemic activity in alloxan-induced rats, which had a statistically significant difference relative the negative control (p<0,05) decreased the levels of blood glucose, total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, triglycerides. Where the best group is two (500 mg/kg BW of Extract) and followed by group one (250 mg/kg BW of Extract). We concluded that Ekor Naga leaves extract provides activity in the treatment option for patients with diabetes and hyperlipidemia.

Abstract

Free radicals from exposure to ultraviolet radiation (UVB) cause dull, rough, dry, cracked skin andpremature aging so that they can damage skin tissue and result in fatal skin cancer. To prevent this,antioxidants are needed. Plants that have potential as antioxidants are Surian leaves and date seedswhich contain lots of flavonoids and phenolics. To make it easier to use, it is processed into a scrubbody lotion using a date seed powder scrub (Phoenix dactylifera). This study aimed to find a scrubbody lotion formula that has the best physical properties and is stable during storage and the bestformula has the strongest antioxidant activity. Each formula contains ethanol extract of Surian leaves(Toona sinensis) with a concentration of 0.1%; 0.3%; 0.5%; 0.7%; 0.9%. After that, an evaluationof the physical properties of scrub body lotion preparation was carried out. From the results of theevaluation of the physical properties of the best scrub body lotion preparations, stable in storage andhedonic tests and safe for irritation tests, formula 5 contains ethanol extract of surian leaves with aconcentration of 0.9% and has an antioxidant activity of IC50 28,554 ppm with a very strong category.

Abstract

Ekstrak daun ekor naga (Rhaphidophora pinnata (L.f) Schott) merupakan ekstrak yang telah teruji dari penelitian sebelumnya memiliki efek sebagai penyembuh luka sayat, luka bakar dan inflamasi. Efek ini didukung dengan adanya kandungan metabolit skeunder alkaloid, flavonoid, steroid, saponin dan tannin. Efek gel sebagai penyembuh luka sayat juga telah di publish. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kadar hidroksiproline kulit yang mengalami luka sayat setelah pemberian gel ekstrak daun ekor naga selama 14 hari. Metode penelitian yang digunakan merupakan experimental design. Hewan uji yang digunakan masing-masing perlakuan sebanyak 5 ekor hewan uji. Kontrol Positif (Bioplacenton®), Formula 0 (Basis Gel), Formula 1 (Konsentrasi ekstrak daun ekor naga 10%), Formula 2 (Konsentrasi ekstrak daun ekor naga 15%), dan Formula 3 (Konsentrasi ekstrak daun ekor naga 20%). Pengamatan yang dilakukan adalah skrining fitokimia, dan kadar hidroksiproline. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa formula 2 merupakan formula yang memiliki efektivitas terbaik dalam pembentukan kolagen yaitu sebesar 35,251±4,16 µg/mL. Dimana secara statistik memiliki perbedaan yang bermakna (p<0,05) antar kelompok perlakuan. Kesimpulan bahwa gel ekstrak daun ekor naga memiliki pengaruh terhadap kadar hidroksiprolin pada kasus luka sayat hewan uji.

Abstract

Ekor Naga (Rhaphidophora pinnata (L.f) Schott) is a traditional plant used by the community. Previous studies have shown that this plant has pharmacological effects, including as anthelmintics, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory agent as well as promotes wound healing. Thus, it is necessary to do a toxicity test. The study aimed to determine the effect of the extract on histopathology of the kidney through a toxicity test. The research used an experimental design. The test animals were divided into 5 groups, each of which consisted of 5 test animals: negative control (0.5% Na. CMC), Treatment 1 (Extract of ekor naga leaves at a dose of 200 mg/Kg BW), Treatment 2 (Extract of ekor naga leaves at a dose of 600 mg/Kg BW), Treatment 3 (Extract of ekor naga leaves at a dose of 1800 mg/Kg BW), and Treatment 4 (Extract of Ekor Naga Leaves at a dose of 5400 mg/Kg BW). The parameters observed were the Letal Dose (LD50) and the histophatology of the kidney. Data were analyzed using One Way ANOVA test, followed with Duncan’s test. The results showed no significant difference in the weight of the kidney (p>0.05), and the histophatology of the kidney after 14 days of acute administration of ekor naga leaf extract in all the treatment was normal. The administration of ekor naga leaf extract at therapeutic doses and larger doses of single administration did not have a bad effect on the histology of the kidney.Keywords: Ekor Naga Leaves, Kidney, Histopathology, Acute Toxicity.

Abstract

Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most common form of arthritis. Meloxicam are one of NSAIDs commonly used that have many side effects. Areca nut (Areca catechu L), which contains flavonoids, can provide anti-inflammatory effects. This study aimed to determine the potential anti-inflammatory effect of ethyl acetate fraction from ripe areca nut in OA rat model. Twenty five of adults, male Rattus novergicus strain Wistar were induced to OA with Monosodium Iodoacetate (MIA), then divided into five groups that each group were given ethyl acetate fraction of ripe areca nut doses of 15mg/kgBW, 30mg/kgBW, and 60mg/kgBW, meloxicam 1.35mg/kgBW and aquadest as negative control for 14 days. Diameter of the knee joint is measured by digital metric kaliper to assess joint edema. The Histopathological examination with Haematoxyllin-Eosin stain to assess degree of inflammation on synovial. Among the areca groups, dose 30mg/kgBW had knee joint diameter reduced better and lower synovitis score. In conclusion, ethyl acetate fraction of the ripe areca nut group has anti inflammation effect in OA model but not dose-dependent.

Abstract

Abstract Herbal medicine is in great demand by the public, especially in the current pandemic conditions. This herbal medicine can be made from herbal plants that are in the home environment. One of them is TOGA. Every RT in mendalo indah area has TOGA which is planted with a variety of herbal plants that have benefits in treating diseases and restoring health. This TOGA was created in an effort to improve the degree of public health by utilizing local wisdom.However, public knowledge about the properties and processing of herbal plants is still very minimal. As a result, the plants in TOGA are rarely used by the community. Innovation and creation of TOGA-based herbal products can increase the added value of herbal plants and have business opportunities. Product creations from herbal plants can be in the form of herbal candies, herbal snacks, and herbal teas. For this reason, activities are needed that can provide knowledge and skills to the community in processing herbal plants into products that have added value. The community service program is a forum for lecturers to provide information and solutions to every problem that occurs in the community. In this program, the targeted communities are communities in RT.02, Mendalo Indah Village, Jambi Outer City District, Muaro Jambi Regency. The community will be equipped with knowledge and skills in processing herbal plants from toga community into innovative herbal medicinal products and provide knowledge to the community of business opportunities from these products through promotional means. The service was held on Saturday, October 2022 with 34 service participants. The service process begins with the coordination of time and place with the chairman of Yasinan Annisa in RT 02 and its surroundings. The service activity began with an extension of the efficacy and how to make herbal medicine from herbal plants grown at TOGA, the mendalo Indah community, then a demo was carried out on how to process herbal innovation products until they became products that had been packaged and were ready to be marketed. The public's understanding of the material presented was measured using instruments and obtained results 88.24% of the community understood the material that had been delivered. Abstrak Obat herbal sangat diminati oleh masyarakat terlebih dalam kondisi pandemic saat ini. Obat herbal ini dapat dibuat dari tanaman-tanaman herbal yang berada dilingkungan rumah. Salah satunya adalah TOGA. Setiap RT dikelurahan Mendalo Indah memiliki TOGA yang ditanami berbagai macam tanaman herbal yang memiliki manfaat dalam mengobati penyakit dan memulihkan kesehatan. TOGA ini dibuat dalam upaya meningkatkan derajat kesehatan masyarakat dengan memanfaatkan kearifan local. Namun pengetahuan masyarakat tentang khasiat dan cara pengolahan tanaman herbal masih sangat minim. Akibatnya tanaman yang ada di TOGA jarang dimanfaatkan oleh masyarakat. Inovasi dan kreasi produk herbal berbasis TOGA dapat meningkatkan nilai tambah dari tanaman herbal dan mempunyai peluang usaha. Kreasi produk dari tanaman herbal dapat berupa permen herbal, cemilan herbal, dan teh herbal. Untuk itu diperlukan kegiatan yang dapat memberikan pengetahuan dan keterampilan kepada masyarakat dalam mengolah tanaman herbal menjadi produk yang memiliki nilai tambah. Program pengabdian pada masyarakat merupakan wadah bagi dosen untuk memberikan informasi dan solusi dari setiap masalah yang terjadi di masyarakat. Pada program ini masyarakat yang menjadi sasaran adalah masyarakat di RT.02, Desa Mendalo Indah, Kec. Jambi Luar Kota, Kabupaten Muaro Jambi. Masyarakat akan dibekali dengan pengetahuan dan keterampilan pengolahan tanaman herbal dari TOGA masyarakat menjadi produk obat herbal yang inovatif serta memberikan pengetahuan kepada masyarakat peluang usaha dari produk tersebut melalui cara-cara promosi.Pengabdian dilaksanakan pada hari Sabtu tanggal Oktober 2022 dengan peserta pengabdian berjumlah 34 orang. Proses pengabdian diawali dengan koordinasi waktu dan tempat dengan ketua yasinan Annisa di RT 02 dan sekitarnya. Kegiatan pengabdian di awali dengan peyuluhan tentang khasiat dan cara pembuatan jamu dari tanaman herbal yang ditanam di TOGA masyarakat mendalo Indah kemudian selanjutnya dilakukan demo cara pengolahan produk inovasi herbal sampai menjadi produk yang telah dipacking dan siap dipasarkan. Pamahaman masyarakat tentang materi yang disampaikan diukur menggunakan instrument dan diperoleh hasil 88,24 % masyarakat mengerti dengan materi yang telah disampaikan.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Penggunaan obat penambah stamina tubuh sangat dibutuhkan dalam kegiatan sehari-hari, pola aktifitas kerja masyarakat yang semakin meningkat membutuhkan tenaga yang lebih banyak sehingga dalam mengcukupinya perlu adanya suplemen penambah. Daun Sawo Manila merupakan salah satu tanaman yang sering digunakan untuk masyarakat sebagai penambah stamina. Pengujian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efek tonikum dari ekstrak daun sawo manila (Manilkara zapota). Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah metode uji renang. Dimana dosis perlakuannya adalah kontrol positif (Kafein 0,52mg/20gram BB), control negative (Na CMC), Dosis I (6mg/20gramBB), Dosis II (12 mg/20 gramBB), dan Dosis III (18mg/20gramBB). Berdasarakan hasil Anova 1 arah menunjukkan adanya perbedaan yang bermakna pada tiap kelompok (p<0,05). Dimana berdasarkan uji lanjutan Duncan menunjukkan dosis terbaik adalah dosis III (18mg/20gramBB). Kemudian diikuti dosis II (12mg/20 gramBB) dan dosis I (6mg/20gramBB).

Abstract

In recent years, the world has been shocked by the emergence of a disease caused by a virus, namely the corona virus or better known as COVID-19. The rapid spread of Covid-19 requires precautions to prevent transmission to break the chain of the COVID-19 pandemic and be able to face the new normal era. One of the preventive measures is to carry out the movement of washing hands with soap. Sheet soap is used as disposable hand soap and is perfect for use when traveling or doing activities outside the home. Currently, the community has started to carry out offline school and lecture activities. This activity aims to demand awareness to increase activities that are able to prevent the spread of Covid-19. So bringing antiseptic products, both in the form of liquids and sheet soap, is highly recommended to provide comfort in dealing with the new normal conditions after the Covid-19 pandemic. Activity method: This activity is planned to be carried out at the izzati jannah orphanage where the orphanage students have carried out learning activities offline. Activities are carried out following strict health protocols. The counseling activity was attended by 30 orphanage children. Based on the results of the post test, it was obtained a value of 92% of students being able to understand the training material provided. So that the results of the activity show that there is an increase in the knowledge of the orphans about processing dragon fruit peel powder into sheet soap that is easy to use and carry.

Abstract

The extract of areca nuts (Areca catechu) contains secondary metabolites, such as flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins, tannins, and steroids. These compounds possess pharmacological effects and can be developed into herbal medicine products. The objective of this study is to determine the optimal nanoparticle formulation by varying the concentrations of chitosan and sodium tripolyphosphate. The 50% ethanol extract of areca nuts was obtained through the maceration method. The extract obtained calculation the yield value. Then tested for phytochemical screening. Subsequently, the extract was formulated into nanoparticle colloids with different ratios of extract concentration: chitosan: sodium tripolyphosphate: Tween 80. The resulting nanoparticles were characterized by their particle size, zeta potential, and polydispersity index. The research findings demonstrated that Formula 3 exhibited the best results, with a particle size of 254.2 ± 0,00, zeta potential of 12.7 ± 0,71, and polydispersity index of 0.436 ± 0,03. Abstract

ABSTRACT Background: Peptic ulcer is one of the health problems in the digestive tract which is characterized by burning and discomfort in the abdominal area. Dragon’s blood has been used by the Suku Anak Dalam (SAD) traditionally to treat wounds. This study aims to evaluate the bioactivity of dragon’s blood on the healing of peptic ulcers in white rats induced using absolute ethanol. Methods: This study used 42 rats divided into six groups (7 rats per group), the normal control group, the positive control, the comparison was given omeprazole at a dose of 20 mg/kgBW, the treatment groups P1, P2 and P3 were given dragon’s blood at doses of 125, 250 and 500 mg/kgBW. Result: Animals were induced using absolute ethanol 1 mL/200 gBW. The parameters determined were the ulcer index and the percentage of ulcer inhibition. Administration of dragon’s blood at a dose of 125-500 mg/kgBW in rats could significantly inhibit the formation of gastric ulcers induced by absolute ethanol (P<0.05). The ulcer index from normal control, positive control, comparison, P1, P2 and P3 were 2; 20.4; 10.4; 14.6; 13.2 and 11.6. While the percentage of ulcer inhibition, respectively, from the comparison, P1, P2 and P3 was 49.02 % 28.43 % 35.29 % and 43.13%. Conclusion: The dose of dragon’s blood that gave the best activity was a dose of 500 mg/kgBW. Resin jernang diketahui juga mempunyai aktivitas sebagai antiinflamasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi bioaktivitas resin jernang terhadap penyembuhan tukak lambung pada tikus putih yang diinduksi menggunakan etanol absolut Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan 42 ekor tikus yang dibagi dalam enam kelompok (7 ekor tikus per kelompok), kelompok kontrol normal, kontrol positif , pembanding diberi omeprazole dosis 20 mg/kgBB, kelompok perlakuan P1, P2 dan P3 diberikan resin jernang dosis 125, 250 dan 500 mg/kgBB. Hasil: Hewan diinduksi dengan menggunakan etanol absolut 1 mL/200 gBB. Parameter yang ditentukan adalah indeks tukak dan persentase inhibisi tukak Pemberian resin jernang dosis 125-500 mg/kgBB pada tikus dapat menghambat pembentukan tukak lambung yang diinduksi oleh etanol absolut dengan signifikan (P<0,05). Indeks tukak berturut turut dari kontrol normal, kontrol positif, pembanding, P1, P2 dan P3 adalah 2; 20,4; 10,4; 14,6;13,2 dan 11,6. Sedangkan persentase penghambatan tukak berturut turut dari pembanding, P1, P2 dan P3 adalah 49,02 % 28,43 % 35,29 % dan 43,13 %. Kesimpulan: Dosis resin jernang yang memberikan aktivitas paling baik adalah dosis 500 mg/kgBB. Kata kunci: resin jernang, Daemonoroph draco, tukak lambung, omeprazol
