Abstract

The lack of innovation in process engineering and technology-based learning in primary schools results in suboptimal learning outcomes. Primary school education does not involve students directly in every learning process, leading to underdeveloped student competencies. One innovative learning approach that can be utilized by elementary school teachers is STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education. The objective of this research is to develop a STEM learning design product to make primary school education more meaningful. The research method employed is Educational Design Research (EDR), which consists of three phases: analysis and exploration, design and construction, and evaluation and reflection. Data collection techniques include interviews, observations, documentary studies, and questionnaires. The subjects of this research are students from classes VB and VC at SDN 2 Pengadilan Kota Tasikmalaya. After conducting two trials of the STEM learning design, it was found that the developed learning design is valid, practical, and suitable for use in primary schools. STEM education can serve as an alternative for teachers to implement learning processes that involve engineering and technology, thus meeting the demands of 21st-century skills for students.

Abstract

This program aims to develop teachers’ competences in using and utilizing technology in the form of Augmented Reality (AR)-based media that can be used in geometry learning. This community service program is in the form of a training for elementary school teachers. This program is motivated by the results of a study which shows that of 257 teachers from 39 cities in Indonesia only 28% claimed to be familiar with AR-based media while 72% of teachers claimed not to know them, some of whom were teachers in Tasikmalaya City. Therefore, it is necessary to develop their competences so that they will know and be able to use AR-based media to adapt to the times. This training was carried out from the smallest scope, namely at an elementary school in Tasikmalaya City, SD Negeri Leuwianyar. The potential for using digital media in the school is quite high because the facilities are quite supportive. The problem was, teachers rarely used digital media, including the use of AR-based media. This training program was carried out by adapting the stages of the ADDIE model, namely Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate. The results of the training showed that teachers strongly agreed that the training could develop their knowledge and encourage them to use AR-based digital media for learning.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out how the activities and roles of parents towards numeracy learning at home are reviewed based on parents with different types of jobs. The research method used is descriptive qualitative research. Data was collected using a questionnaire guideline which includes counting activities at home done with the mother, interview guidelines as clarifying material from the questionnaire which contains counting activities done with the mother and the media used. The results showed the role of (1) parents who work as entrepreneurs have played a good and compact role in providing facilities that support counting activities at home, (2) parents who work as self-employed are quite good at providing facilities for counting activities at home, this is because parents are less compact and less involved in the process of children learning to count at home, (3) while parents who work as teachers have played a very good role in providing facilities for counting activities at home, and always provide motivation. This shows that parents' awareness is an important point in teaching counting at home.

Abstract

This research is based on the results of a preliminary study which identified students' learning barriers in algebraic multiplication and division material in elementary schools. Students do not fully understand the concept of algebraic multiplication and division due to learning obstacles related to limited didactic designs made by teachers. Learning obstacles experienced by students must be anticipated through a learning process that is able to overcome these problems. The researcher developed a didactic learning design using a Realistic Mathematics Education (PMR) approach. The aim of this research is to determine the learning obstacles experienced by students, develop didactical designs for algebraic multiplication and division, describe, test, and describe the designs that have been created. The research method used in this research is Didactical Design Research (DDR). This method consists of three stages, namely didactic situation analysis before learning in the form of Hypothetical Learning Trajectory (HLT) and Pedagogical Didactic Anticipation (ADP), metapedadidactic analysis and retrospective analysis. The data collection technique used is triangulation which combines observation, interviews and documentation. The design development process was carried out in class V with a total of 18 students, and the preliminary study stage was carried out in class IV at SDN 1 Sukamanah with a total of 22 students, and class IV at SDN Sukamulya with a total of 16 students. This research produces data regarding student barriers to multiplication and division material, didactical design in the form of teaching materials, student worksheets (LKPD), to minimize students' learning barriers to multiplication and division material in algebra.
