Abstract

Abstract

Islamic Religious Education (IRE) is an important component of the national education system that serves to instill moral values, ethics, and faith in students. However, in practice, IRE instruction often still relies on conventional methods that are unengaging and ill-suited to the characteristics of today's digital generation. This results in low student interest and suboptimal understanding of Islamic values. Therefore, innovation in PAI teaching materials has become an urgent necessity to achieve more effective and contextual learning. Innovation in teaching materials not only involves the development of printed materials but also the creation of strategies, media, and learning approaches that are relevant to technological advancements and the needs of students. This paper discusses the definition, scope, objectives, and benefits of studying PAI teaching material innovation. The scope covers materials on creed, the Qur'an and Hadith, ethics, jurisprudence, and Islamic cultural history. Meanwhile, the objectives and benefits of teaching material innovation include improving learning effectiveness, providing materials that meet student needs, and strengthening teacher competencies. With innovative teaching materials, the learning process can be more communicative, engaging, and meaningful. In conclusion, innovation in PAI teaching materials is a strategic step toward creating relevant, inspiring religious education that can address the challenges of the times. Abstract

Access to Islamic financial services in Indonesia remains very limited. In fact, Islamic finance has a large market share across industries such as microfinance, small and medium enterprises, and retail lending. This condition has encouraged the rise of online loans as an alternative source of quick funding for business actors without considering the risks or Sharia compliance. This study aims to analyze the motives behind illegal online borrowing and the low level of Sharia financial literacy among community members. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study design. Primary data were collected through interviews with individuals who have previously used illegal online loan services. The findings show that residents of Makassar, Maros, and Gowa generally admitted that they used online loans because the process was extremely easy, fast, and required fewer documents compared to banks. They also stated that they were not familiar with Sharia-compliant lending platforms and did not know how to distinguish between Sharia and non-Sharia online loan services. Thus, it can be concluded that transactions involving online loans in these regions are largely driven by low literacy in Islamic finance and by a consumerist lifestyle.

Abstract

Micro-enterprises play a crucial role in supporting local economic growth, particularly in coastal areas where communities depend heavily on informal business activities such as fisheries, seafood processing, small trading, and water-based services. Despite their economic contribution, tax awareness among micro-enterprise entrepreneurs in these regions remains remarkably low, limiting their access to formal financial services and government support programs. This community engagement program aims to enhance tax awareness and compliance through an integrated education and mentorship approach specifically designed for coastal micro-business actors in South Sulawesi. The program incorporates interactive tax literacy training, hands-on mentoring, and practical demonstrations on administrative processes such as Taxpayer Identification Number (NPWP) registration, tax reporting, and the use of digital tax platforms. Collaboration with Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia, the International Association of Economic and Business, several local universities, community organizations, traditional institutions, and Masjid Terapung Ar-Rahma Tallo ensures a culturally grounded and community-based implementation strategy. The program addresses key issues faced by micro-entrepreneurs, including limited financial literacy, negative perceptions of taxation, minimal access to digital services, and the absence of personalized guidance. Findings indicate that the combination of contextual education and continuous mentorship significantly improves participants’ understanding, confidence, and willingness to comply with tax obligations. Beyond increasing tax awareness, the initiative strengthens community networks, enhances entrepreneurial capacity, and supports the development of a more inclusive and sustainable local economic ecosystem. This model offers a scalable framework for tax empowerment in underserved coastal communities.
