Abstract

Abstract Rural economic development is an integral part of national development that is greatly influenced by local political dynamics. This study analyzes the relationship between political atmosphere and economic development in Citengah Village, Sumedang Regency. Using a qualitative approach, this study reveals that local political stability, development policies, and the role of political actors greatly determine the effectiveness of the implementation of village economic programs. The results of the study indicate that politicization of policies, uneven allocation of village funds, and lack of transparency in the management of Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) are the main challenges in economic development in Citengah Village. However, this village also has great opportunities in developing an economy based on local resources, such as the agricultural and agro-tourism sectors. Community empowerment, strengthening the role of the village government, and optimizing BUMDes as an economic driver are the main strategies in realizing inclusive and sustainable development. This study recommends increasing transparency in village governance and synergy between the government, community, and private sector to support rural economic growth.

Abstract

This qualitative research uses a case study method with data collection through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis. Informants include representatives from local government, academia, business, local community, and media involved in tourism management in Citengah. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings show that all Penta Helix actors have contributed to the management of Citengah Tourism Village, but coordination and synergy are limited due to unclear regulations, low academic involvement in community education, and constraints in business sector investment. The Silih Simbeuh principle has been applied in the local community but has not yet been fully integrated into cross-sector collaboration. To overcome these challenges, the study recommends a more systematic collaboration strategy with stronger regulatory support. This research contributes to the academic understanding of applying the Penta Helix model with local wisdom perspectives and offers practical strategies for managing tourism villages in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strategy of the Citengah Village government in increasing the economic independence of the community through local economic empowerment. Using descriptive analysis methods and multiple linear regression, this study involved 100 respondents consisting of the community, village officials, and MSME actors. The results of the study showed that MSME training and capital assistance had a significant positive impact on increasing the economic independence of the community. As many as 80% of respondents considered this program to be quite helpful for their economic activities, while the development of economic infrastructure also facilitated access to the market, as expressed by 75% of respondents. Community participation in the planning and implementation of village economic policies was considered very important by 65% of respondents, and was proven to have an effect on the effectiveness of the program. The results of the hypothesis test showed that the village government strategy had a significant effect on the economic independence of the community (p <0.05), and community involvement also had a positive impact (H2 accepted). However, the management of Village Funds has not shown a significant effect (H3 rejected), which indicates challenges in terms of transparency and efficiency of fund use. Abstract

This article discusses voter participation in the 2024 General Election (Pemilu) in Palu City through the Village Care for Elections and Elections (DP3) program initiated by the General Elections Commission (KPU). The DP3 program aims to increase community awareness and involvement, especially in rural areas that were previously recorded as having low levels of participation. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques in the form of interviews, observations, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the DP3 program in Palu City was able to encourage increased voter participation through community-based voter education, involvement of community leaders, and a direct, participatory approach. However, the implementation of the program still faces several obstacles, such as limited human resources and logistics, as well as the level of political literacy that is not evenly distributed in society. This article concludes that the DP3 program has contributed positively to building a culture of democracy at the grassroots level and can be a model for sustainable electoral participation if accompanied by capacity building and cross-sector collaboration.

Abstract

Extreme poverty remains a persistent challenge in Indonesia, with approximately 2.5% of the population living on less than $2.15 per day (World Bank, 2023). This condition is not solely economic but also deeply intertwined with social and cultural dimensions, limiting access to education, healthcare, and employment opportunities. This study examines the impact of business incubators on reducing extreme poverty in Garut Regency by analyzing changes in income and managerial knowledge using paired t-tests. The findings indicate a significant increase in income, with an average growth of 35% (p-value = 0.000), alongside a notable improvement in managerial knowledge (p-value = 0.001) following participation in the incubator program. These results underscore the effectiveness of business incubators in enhancing both financial stability and entrepreneurial capacity. However, critical challenges remain, particularly regarding access to capital and heightened market competition, which disproportionately affect entrepreneurs in remote areas. To address these barriers and ensure the long-term sustainability of incubator initiatives, stronger collaboration among local governments, financial institutions, and the private sector is essential. Such partnerships can facilitate targeted financial support and broader market access. Overall, this research affirms the role of business incubators as a strategic tool for community empowerment and poverty alleviation, while emphasizing the need for ongoing support mechanisms and policy innovation to foster resilient, inclusive economic development in disadvantaged regions such as Garut Regency.

Abstract

This article outlines the development of a bilingual pocket dictionary specifically designed for Indonesian junior high school students to aid in learning biological scientific terms in English. Using a descriptive research approach, the dictionary was crafted from English terms extracted from widely used junior high school natural science textbooks. These terms were translated into Indonesian and provided with clear, concise bilingual definitions. To enhance understanding, simple illustrations and example sentences were included. The dictionary is designed to be compact and user-friendly, making it a practical tool for students to carry and use as a reference. By addressing the linguistic barriers in learning biology, this dictionary not only simplifies the learning process but also promotes scientific literacy and bilingual proficiency. This project represents a critical step in supporting science education in Indonesia, providing a resource that bridges the gap between complex scientific vocabulary and students' language skills.

Abstract

Background: Hypertension is a common health condition among older adults and a major risk factor for cardiovascular complications. Non-pharmacological interventions, such as Benson relaxation, offer a safe and accessible approach to blood pressure management in the elderly. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the effect of Benson relaxation therapy on blood pressure reduction among older adults with hypertension in Joyotakan Village, Serengan District, Surakarta City, Indonesia. Methods: A descriptive case study design was employed with two elderly respondents diagnosed with stage I hypertension. Benson relaxation was administered once daily for three consecutive days, with each session lasting 10–20 minutes. Blood pressure was measured before and after each intervention. Inclusion criteria were: diagnosed hypertension, age ≥35 years, ability to communicate verbally, and willingness to participate. Exclusion criteria included altered consciousness or concurrent use of antihypertensive medication during the study. Results: Both respondents showed consistent reductions in systolic and diastolic blood pressure across all three days. Respondent Mrs. S’s blood pressure decreased from 145/100 mmHg to 130/80 mmHg (a reduction of 15/20 mmHg), shifting from Stage I hypertension to prehypertension. Respondent Mr. S’s blood pressure decreased from 142/105 mmHg to 120/77 mmHg (a reduction of 22/28 mmHg), reaching the normal range. Daily reductions ranged from 5–15 mmHg in systolic and 5–15 mmHg in diastolic pressure. Conclusion: Benson relaxation therapy demonstrated a positive effect in lowering blood pressure among elderly individuals with hypertension, supporting its use as an effective non-pharmacological nursing intervention in community settings.
